As far as "Calaradia few hundred years later" mods go, the Eagle and the Radiant Cross from the original M&B was the best one. It had Winged Hussars, for one, but there was also shit like huge multiple-barelled rifles that you could shoot like 20 times out of but the reload took whole battle. It had great custom maps, the world map was also changed (albeit a bit buggy), there was a new faction or two and in general it was very good.
The new mods just try to overdo the minor technical aspects (what the fuck is this and why it's a thing) and totally forget about the important stuff like TRUCKLOADS OF NEW ITEMS including tons of rare ones that make you feel badass, more Calaradia to conquer, huge and varied troop trees, more custom battle maps and, obviously, Winged Hussars.
There's also The Deluge but that's only multiplayer mod. One of best ones around, though, the naval combat is so fucking good and there are Winged Hussars.

That image reminds me of The Guild 2, churches were only kinda "ehh" for Scholars but for Nova Aetas, no idea. Maybe? I went for my brewery licence at Suno and had a nice array of rented apartments and breweries in my factions (went Swadia again) towns so I had good passive income for my mercenary band (I didn't go for a lordship cuz I will be king in the north and those other kings can suck it).

As for full gunpowder mods, I've never really been interested in them, the closest I've enjoyed so far is Nova Aetas, but I did like having all my companions equipped with handguns in Sword of Damocles Warlords (sequel to one of the greatest mods for the original M&B ever.)

Kinda late as its been out for a little bit, but Viking Conquest got updated to 2.025 recently. I played and loved (and still have it installed) Brytenwalda and VC is just a turbo version of BT. Some features got replaced, like sailing (which got pimped) and the whole bard thing got axed, but for an ascended, upgraded paid version of a free mod, Viking Conquest has become one of my favorite modules for M&B.

Black Desert is having an event for new and returning players with lots of free gifts!
http://forum.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?/topic/112520-explorer-event-series/

Also, Sorceress Awakening just went live!

Black Desert, its been so long. I had a good start with some money and a decent horsey. I had just figured out how to make the warrior into a facerolling bruiser in PvP.  But the lag. Maybe its fixed. I want to believe.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Though, Pearl is the one who had the idolized hero figure who pushed her to become more and then died, leaving her to grow and work to find her own way in the... well... universe.

I typed "Perl" three times, I don't even use the language, what the hell?

It's fine, it's firday and im a lil tipsy sitting at my corner desk while me and my roommates watch Riki-Oh (with Backstroke of the West next) or however you speel it and I'm typing words wrong every few lines and laughing my ass off, so speeling isn't important.

But you do have a point about the whole hero figure inspiration thing, but Steven keeps drawing natural parallels to me about being the chosen one who can unite the races and free the gems from the oppressive government so he's kinda the focus of my thought. I can see him growing into it, but he's got a rude awakening coming when the Diamonds just don't care or listen to him when we get to that point. I guess I'm hoping for some drama, let us introduce such a paragon of manliness, a man of indomitable spirit who awakens the fighting spirit of the Gems and Steven once more and becomes a beloved side character of the group ......only to die in the first real encounter with the Diamonds, his last moments inspirational to the end. Damn it gurren lagann.

*edit again, also gotta praise the music choice for the last episode, perfect garage band sound for the episode theme, i actually hunted down the music on youtube and have it on repeat.

They probably never bothered to get the paperwork

I get the impression that they mistakenly believe they couldn't get the paperwork.

Though given how public the Crystal Gems are (sort of), you would think it would be unavoidable.

It is one of the reasons why one of my theories is that the Crystal Gems froze themselves until Steven came about :P
-Actually I just assume the Gems often fought for weeks, months, or years on end without a Rose or Steven to break up their fights.

---

My personal theory is that the government is FULLY aware of the crystal gems and their existence.

They just don't act on it.

I agree with the government part; it does seem like Mayor Dewey knows and tries to cover up as much of the weird gem stuff as possible judging by the way he got defensive in Ronaldo's interview. And, until the somewhat recent fingering of Beach City, they've never been a threat nor have they been high profile, having at one point fenced themselves off and seemingly not bothered.

I kinda wanna see what the government would do now that all this stuff's going on. Perhaps a men-in-black style situation is going on behind the scenes and the MIB already know about the Kindergarden (codename Site 48 or something) and for all we know they could try actual surveillance on the gems.

Edit* Just caught up on the last episode and...

I choose for Head of State.....perhaps Canada. Only reason being is it's quiet and most nations just don't bother you much. Not to mention, I've dated a francophone Canadian chick and she was pretty and had natural Canadian niceness, a great combo.

Absolute authority......I honestly don't know. Heck, The Imperium of Man, let me wipe those High Lords of Terra out and work from scratch to make the Imperium great again.

Jimbo's been my nickname as long as i can remember, and since Jimbo by itself usually is taken, I slapped on M for my last initial and 12 cuz that's how old i was when I fully accepted it as my nickname. Before this I just kinda experimented cuz I disliked being called Jimbo but I came to accept and promote it and it's become my internet persona. The true self.

Life Advice / Re: How to get Internet Friends
« on: August 31, 2016, 05:13:33 pm »
If you're a gamer like me, and take this with a grain of salt, try playing a guild-heavy MMO you enjoy and try joining a guild with a chat.

This worked for me in Guild Wars 2, I started Cthulhu Saves the World a long time ago and with a small (like 3) core group of friends and set up a free Raidcall room and the fun times rolled. We gradually gained a few close friends to join the group while others came and went. We all drifted to our individual interests after the GW2 expansion and after we realized what shit ArcheAge was. I still keep in touch with a couple, but they play EVE and I just don't have it in me anymore to grind that kinda way no more (unless I win the lottery and can quit working forever).

But yeah, get a microphone and find a guild with a chat in a game you find fun and start small.

I would think that it would vary, but given the chaos --> bad vein, and given that pleasure and the likes is a corrupting influence, I am somewhat suprised there is no veggie tales in space.

But there is. It just happens to involve more heretic gutting and mutant burning. Probably platitudes that don't quite sound right too.

"And so remember kids, if your neighbor keeps coughing after a week, he's probably a Nurgle worshiper and should be burned." And segways right into a commercial for Emperor's Owntm brand Soylens Viridians chips, potato flavored.

Bumping for lateness, I only just finished season 6 of GoT and felt the need to gush.

A Warhammer 40k Civilization type game with planet and space layers. All the major factions will be present, the Imperial factions divided into 4 major parts:

The 'Regular' Imperium of Man is represented by the Guard and plays like any normal civ but with more heretic burning. Kinda weak in the beginning of colonization but economic powerhouses at the endgame able to produce enough to drown entire cities with bodies and tanks. Pretty decent all rounders, just need the numbers.
Space Marine Fiefdoms are small but produce way more, think something like militarized versions of Venice. Extremely powerful individual units but you won't have a lot of them and support from the regular Imperium helps a ton. Much, much better all rounders.
The Church is represented by the Battle Sisters. Their forces are divided between the elite sisters and their lower fiefdom PDF rabble. A lot like Bretonnia from regular Warhammer. Plays alot like the regular Imperium but their cities are cleaner looking.
The Mechanicus is really more of an addon, as they only get 1 city like any trader civ, but that one city is enough to power their entire faction. Very few early units; in fact, only one: the Skitarii. Servators get unlocked to handle specific combat tasks later but for the majority of the game, you only get those red suited chrome boys. Then the endgame happens. Deploy all titans on a city and laugh manically through your drive thru window speaker you call a mouth.

The Tau would be the equivalent of any of the religious civs. Infect Imperium cities with the Greater Good and freedom and watch them happily convert to your side. At least until they get self nuked. Excellent ranged combat, best in the game in most unit categories, but melee ranged units murder them. Even Guardsmen that get close enough to use the bayonet move.

Orks are well, Orks. They have the ability to migrate their 'cities' closer to enemy territories in order to get closer to the fightin'. Quickly amassed, tough units. Very few early game tricks up their sleeves. Lots of cannon fodder to soak up sieges while you pound on cities.

The Eldar; in any other game with covert options, it'd be these guys. That's not to say they don't have good units, but each one is very specific to a task. While the other factions can swap heavy weapons attachments to units on the fly, with the Eldar you have to create a whole new unit to do so. Also, they can relay units from any city to any other city really quickly.

The Necrons. I really don't have any ideas for these guys, other than notoriously tough units that take forever to build.

The Tyranids, these guys are also hard to come up with civ options for. The ability to infest cities, sure, and quickly built cannon fodder that needs to be within X tiles of a leader unit to gain full combat strength.

And finally the forces of Chaos, the 'regular' Cultists and the Dark Eldar. The regular cults are represented by mass expendable cultists early on, and graduate into Chaos Space Marines mid game with Daemon support later on. The ability to weaken city defenders with cults and open up temporary warp portals to quickly get units to the front.

And the Dark Eldar. The ability to raid cities for slaves to boost output. The ability to use warp gates to quickly get units around. Same Eldar flavor with some spice thrown in.

Steam's having a Capcom sale, I picked up Dead Rising 2 cuz I remember having a blast with it on console. I would have gotten Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen too, but I already bought that at release. I'd highly recommend the game, I just started another playthrough just cuz the Capcom sale. Think Dark Souls slapped together with a single-player mmo feel.

Not to mention every single person who's ever played mount and blade would have cheated at some point. It's just way too fun to be a ridiculous super juggernaut.

I second that, but I try to keep the cheating to a minimum most games. I find I don't cheat that often after I made a ridiculously high leveled 'legacy' character that I import into every game I start now. He started his legacy in vanilla Diplomacy, carried his skills through the Floris Expanded Mod Pack, honed his leadership through Sword of Damocles Warlord and used all his immense strength to dominate Prophecy of Pendor. He still exists on my HDD somewhere, but I didn't use him in mods that drastically change the game, such as Viking Conquest or Brytenwalda.

I got a new one; I want a Mechwarrior game based solely around the Solaris Arena. It'll be about a common joe, an ex-merc, working his way up to the championships, think Cinderella Man and it will play a lot like any create-a-superstar mode in Madden games or such, but with alot of stuff to do out of the main season. You'll have working mini-games as you take on mechanics jobs, maybe hire and manage your support staff like personal mechanics to help customize your mechs (you can manage your mechs yourself but you'll lose time between signups for matches and it's faster to work with a team. This is to balance the lack of a training component like a sports game, so you're not just racking up shit tons of money between matches through the mini-games). And since I'm on a Find-A-Bae-In-Games streak right now, perhaps even a dating sim component to attract unique mechanics to date and marry to lower the costs of repairs and open unique mods to certain models of Mech. Perhaps that nice clanner girl can make that Timber Wolf's heat sinks slightly more effective.

It will also have very little to do with the greater politics of the Mechwarrior world at large. You'll have faction aligned unique fighters appear in the arena, but it's not the focus. That always kinda bothered me about MW4 Mercs, it always ended up with the choice between Steiner and Devion, when all I wanted was to listen to good old Duncan talk about that phenom blazing his way across the arena.
