If we're talking mobile games for phones, I know off the top of my head the best non-super heavy microtransaction ones are The Walking Dead No-Man's Land, a zombie XCOM-like with vague Clash of Clans like outpost building. Quite good, just play a couple missions a 'tick' and take it slow otherwise you run out of your 'gas' which is parlance for 'timegate'.

Everyone knows about Fallout Shelter but here I go again; Fallout Shelter's a very decent little builder/management game that's also got a ProgressQuest like side game where you send vault dwellers out into the wastes to come back with random shit.

D already posted about the Trese Brothers, good board games for decent prices.

Minecraft Pocket Edition is pretty good, if you want Minecraft on the go. It's a little behind the 'main' game but it does get occasional updates to bring it closer to the main version.

There's always phone Agar.io if you wanna accidentally run into things bigger than you and die cuz you couldn't react fast enough using touch screens.

Warhammer 40k Space Wolf is a turn-based tactical strategy game that uses a card mechanic. The cards can be something like 'sprint' or it could include any weapon so occasionally your single tactical marine will somehow lug a rocket launcher, flamethrower, and heavy bolter all at once.

Star Wars: Uprising is a sort of mini-MMO that was vaguely appealing until I had to delete it for space. I didn't get too far, but it's basically a mission based RPG.

And that's my list of ok mobile games. What I really wish is for a good mobile sort of Magic the Gathering type game. Yeah I know, Hearthstone, but still.

PTW and I added my Blizz tag in the Bay12 players spreadsheet under the heading GLORIOUS PC GAMING MASTER RACE. I found I really like bullying snipers as Winston; I once had an amusing thing where I jumped on a Hanzo and bubbled, then exited the bubble and he used his spread arrow thing; it all got trapped in the bubble while I lightning-ed him from just outside the bubble.

At least he's pretty honest about being a huge perv.

It's not quite Hideo without manbutts and mentally damaged women with their tits out. And mostly strange convoluted plots. And self-cameo easter eggs. All of which I expect, nay, hope to see with his own independent game.

Not even Russian analysts can figure what the fuck is going on in America

Sigged, this made me chuckle.

It's confirmed, Norman Reedus was tapped for mo-cap and voice work. I sorta knew Hideo was going to get Norman back after Silent Hill was canned, it's good to see they're still bros.

Also, let's bet on what kinda story and game it's gonna be. I assume it's going to open as a survival horror sandbox in the vein of Silent Hill, but then turns around and is actually a SNATCHER sequel.

I just noticed on the video that the 2H the dev was using actually slashed across multiple opponents. My hype has officially hit critical levels.

Software Inc is about $10 US on Steam. Still early access and more interesting than game dev tycoon. Like Kerbal, the price will only go up as time goes on.

This game just hijacked all my addiction receptors, beating out even Overwatch (I'm a big TF2 player, so Overwatch jumped into the same addiction slot as TF2 for me).

JimBro Software just recently released WinBro 85 Update 1, now with GUI and Multithreading support. Includes Multitasking! Comes with full compatibility with BroEdit 2D and BroSounds, which have been ported to the new OS.

I can't seem to make it work.  For instance there are half a dozen scattered territories in the interior of africa I never bothered to conquer because they are empty desert.  I added them to the garrison zone of my african army.  The african army did  nothing.

Garrisoned forces move solely to hole up in cities/bases. Empty space, like the farmlands in Mid-America, get passed over until the enemy moves in. When an enemy moves in only a handful of your divisions in the army assigned to the garrison will respond. The larger the enemy, the larger the response. This is how its supposed to work, I think; I tested this by assigning all the national guard units America starts with to an army to get them garrisoning the continental US and to get them training, the general moved a few divisions to fortify the major cities and just let them sit there until Mexican (i supported the Mexican rebels, Viva la Capitalism!) forces moved into Texas, upon which all the nearby units moved to defend.

I think I should perform more mechanics !science! later, but this is how it appeared to work in my test game.

I've been using the garrison order offensively by leapfrogging armies across each other towards the enemy. Works rather well, and if you want to take a state completely owned by the enemy, just order all your armies to garrison the same area. They'll surge into the area and spread out to claim all the important bits and respond to any counter attacks.

I feel like the Reich is actually quite underpowered in the game. My Dutch infantry has been wrecking their motorized and light armored divisions for two years and they have almost no air force whatsoever.

If you started in 1936 they might have the same supply issue America has and has to get back up to speed, but the AI seems horrible at it. Also, were you doing research? I spent from 1936 to 1942 as America just building civvie factories and doing research and we already had assault rifles and crap, so when England called me into the war in 1942 my infantry only divisions (don't forget to have a general do exercises early, i didn't even know about that when i was building up, so I didn't have advanced division formations D:) i utterly smashed German occupied France with only one army of 24 infantry divisions.

So... X:Rebirth Complete is out for... something like $13 on GOG.
And i'm kinda on the fence about this one.
I liked the previous X games but know this one is somewhat different.
However i'd still be ok if i could command (not directly control) a capital ship from within.
Something like Carrier Command perhaps but from what i can tell the entire game has you flying and dogfighting in an M3 equivalent  which is... kinda meh for my tastes.
I like my ships big and armed with a load of turrets + a compliment of fighter drones in the hangar.

X3 let me play that out but i'm really unsure if rebirth is going to let me do any of that and focus on dogfighting instead.

Any suggestions?

Now that it's been extensively patched, I can recommend it at that sale price. Some bugs exist still, but it's a good game for 13 bucks for the Home of Light complete edition.

With the Capital Ship Bridge mod, you can actually command your capital ships from within and watch it unfold from the command deck of your ship. It's hella fun watching your first Taranis (once your repair the damn thing) go to town on a poor passing trade ship from in front of the captains chair. Your capital ships play exactly like the way you described if you put in the effort; I found making drone factories to arm your cap ships to also be very profitable.

The Skunk is definitely the worst part tho, imagine flying the Hyperion from X3 but without the awesome. Someone tried modding the skunk to have dual rear mounted turrets but that mod really didn't get off the ground.
The game also suffers from the same issue X3 had: you have to find a goal for yourself to stay interested and everything takes quite a bit of time/effort if you don't cheese the station exploration to find 50 golden fish asses to sell at high prices and such. There's a mostly empty sector you can try claiming for your factories that gets passing raider ships but other then that it does suffer from "What do I do now" syndrome.

I'll neglect the common complaints of bad voice acting and lack of deep narrative as these are usually not what we know the X games for anyway.

Still on the fence as well, I recall HoI III struggling until the addons released - any crashes, any big issues, how flexible is it, any mod support, share your opinions: )?

I'm not finding many big bugs, but then I've only been playing as 'Murica for the last few hours. No crashes so far, 3 hours of gaming so far.
By flexibility, I assume you mean gameplay-wise? It's like HoI 3 but with all the shiny new upgrades of all the things they learned from CK2, EU4, and Stellaris. So it's almost decidedly just a wargame. Some diplomacy options and such too, but at its Heart (of Iron) it's just a WW2 sim. Some fun alternate history stuff available, of course, but that's kinda it.
Mod support is as good as Stellaris, some people have already began editing flags and character portraits. Steam Workshop integration and all that jazz.

tl;dr: Everything Hearts of Iron 3 was, but with modern touches and some new gameplay features I have yet to pick up on.

Rating: 9 out of 10 giga-Hitlers.

Edit* Also kinda digging the radio music DLC for America. Quite atmospheric. Foresee incoming music modding.

Quick started as America in 1936 and started building civilian factories cuz the Great Depression. No Idea if its helping.

That's still debated to this day, so don't sweat it.

It actually turned out to be a good idea since you can use the factories to produce trade goods to help yourself get back to full strength: America 1936 starts at a deficit of infantry weapons and support items. By having the factories make more factories and using the new factories to make trade goods for the construction of the weapons you can somewhat quickly get yourself out of the slump. You can't get out of the "Something- Isolationist" economic policy yet and that hurts the production, but getting this done early helped big time when it came to shoring up the existing units you start with.

Next game now that I kinda have the basic idea down: Filipino world domination.
