Seems like the only option, but doing so would move it a bit further from my hospital... will fix it later.

I'm trying to make a large cistern of water, but it always freezes when winter rolls around. I've tried a few things to melt it down, but nothing seems to work. What should I do?

-Easily killed Forgotten Beast-
Any FB that spits something is typically easy to dispatch because that's the only way they ever attack. So long as you have a decent military they won't put up much of a challenge.

The ones you need to watch out for are the ones with deadly dust, noxious fumes, deadly blood, or the web spewing ones.

It's a temperate biome actually. You'd think having the kitchens right next to the volcano would make the milk melt, though.

It has minced wolf intestines and dwarven syrup in it. So, yeah, I guess.

A Giant Louse somehow got into my Volcano Megafort's residential section. I didn't realize this until I got a message about a mason being found dead and zoomed in on the body. It's now locked in one of the rooms to be killed later, probably far later given that I don't have a standing military.

Life Advice / Computer Problems
« on: February 27, 2014, 04:10:46 pm »
So, right now my the mousepad on my laptop and the wireless mouse both refuse to work. I don't know why, could be a virus or something, but I am relying on my keyboard and touchscreen for the moment.

The funny thing is, they work when I log into my computer profile and the split second afterward- then cut out. I may not know much about computers but I doubt its a hardware issue. Any advice?

EDIT: Nevermind, it just started working on its own again.

And in one of my old forts I had a one-armed soldier that got over fifty kills, the most in that fort, by bashing things with his shield.

If they bring me good stuff I spare them. If they bring me crap I instigate a war with them to train my military just like with the humans. I wish I could do the same with the Parent Dwarf civ, having ambushes and sieges all year long would be entertaining.

Which way does the wind blow in North Korea? If its north then in the event of a nuclear detonation wouldn't most of the fallout go in China's direction?

The only reason to make Crossbows out of heavier stuff is so that when you hit people in the face it'll hurt more. To that end train them in hammerdwarfing and equip them with steel crossbows and shields.

Isn't silver better for bashing, though?

(Not that I have any. I thought I had Galena, but it was Gypsum.)

I never tried to make silver crossbows so I don't know if you can make them, but I imagine so. Silver is denser than steel after all.

Well, he's supposed to be writing an essay in favor of an invasion, so...

That was the original intent, since then it has morphed into an essay advocating decisive intervention. A few paragraphs may seem a little at odds with that, so I'll have to change them some.

Beast Tamer, I hope my opinion didn't sound too critical.  :)
Overall, I think it's a very good essay. Jonestown is a nice example for a topic you are writing about.
I realize I don't offer any real solution to the problem, I only argue about usage of military force. When I was writing my reply I was, for some reason, under the impression you advocate immediate war on NK, but after reading your essay again - you never said that! So maybe I did sound a bit negative about your conclusion and I do apologize for that.  ;)
Do let us know how it turns out though!

Any feedback is appreciated, especially that which helps me improve my essay. Will post third draft once finished.
