That is weird. I assume it's the same deal with all the damaging clouds, but it would make more sense if they all did that...

OK, I updated the rosters with all the new names, lots of people joining today!

Tiruin, please confirm if that is your crawl username as well.

I have a nice HoWr just about finished with the depths, next up is getting the rune from Vaults 5, then, if I survive, on to Zot.  Ugh... this character isn't quite tanky enough for me to feel confident stairdancing the vaults, so I guess I'll have to do it the 'right' way, namely running/teleporting around like an idiot until I can clear a little space to catch my breath.  I might actually get a win in this tourney...

Yeah, I armed and equipped my creatures, but the training takes a very long time to add up to anything.  In the meantime, my keeper was level 33 from handling invasions by himself.

The issue with looting is specific to the new campaign mode, because it takes place on a different map than your dungeon.  You cannot go into the "dark god" interface to command looting on other maps.

I should try the single map mode, it sounds like campaign mode just has more kinks to work out.

Poncheis, if you want to join in you can still do it.  Just let me know which team and what your crawl name is.

This is a fun game, but campaign mode seems a bit easy.  I didn't get invaded at all until I started making trouble on my own, and I didn't do that until I was established in my base.

I had lots of different creatures, and various equipment for them, but they were basically useless against the human enemies, my keeper had to do most of the work.  Lizardmen were easy enough for my creatures to kill.  Dwarves seemed almost the same as humans, except without the ridiculous sorcerers.

I sent wave after wave of creatures to the warrior village, and they were repeatedly slaughtered without causing any enemy losses.  These were orcs, ogres, wolves, some goblins because I had too many, zombies, and harpies.
Eventually, I got tired of these pesky human warriors, so I brought my keeper along, and killed all the humans with only a couple losses from crazy wolves charging in and getting their heads cut off.

Which brings me to my next complaint: Looting enemy villages seems to be an entirely manual affair. First I had to switch between my troops, having each one pick up all they could carry.  Then I had to travel back to base, and here's the really irritating part, I had to possess them all again, and manually drop all the stuff I looted.  Even stuff they had no use for whatsover.

It's a fun game, but it's a bit easy at the moment.  I suppose I should try the single map mode, how is the difficulty compared to campaign?

OK Aoi, I added you to the champs team, let me know if you'd rather be on another, but you said you've gotten some wins, so you meet the criteria.

I'm assuming your crawl name is Aoi as well?

I had a promising MuGl die in the depths, then a MiFi I was playing for an 'easy' win somehow die in snake with 39 ac and 10 ev.  I am not sure what went so wrong... the mummy had an easier time in snake than the MiGl, even though he had rPois.  It just seemed like the snakes were hitting my poor minotaur extra hard...

So far I got 2 runes, and a couple random banners.  I am not doing so well this tourney...

Ozarck, you don't need cancellation to get rid of confusion, potions of curing will remove it as well.

However, I still wouldn't wear that amulet.  Getting confused at random when being hit can be really bad.

428
Yeah, you add him as your teamcaptain, he adds you as a team member

429
OK, Dozebom and Gamedragon are on the intermediate team. I made Doz the captain, so I guess that solves your problem with being captain of a one man team.

I'm not seeing anyone else on the champions team, the blacksmiths members are showing. Is it possible something's wrong in your RC vactor?

Ogres are good at spellcasting(The spellcasting skill, that is), so that puts them in a good position to learn low level multi school spells almost as well as the more magical races.  This puts them in a decent position to do well at being a wizard.

So for an AE, I'd probably train spellcasting and maybe a little air to get swiftness online, and probably stop there.  Swiftness is a decent spell to save your life sometimes.  The problem with just trying to play it as a normal ogre with a club is you won't start with a club, and you've got to kill the stuff that tries to kill you between now and club time.  Even then, you won't be as good at clubbing as an ogre who started that way.

Of course, you could always lean heavily on throwing, as you're likely to at least find some rocks to throw pretty quickly.  Throwing never stops being good, so it's not like it's wasted xp or anything.

431
OK, I just feel bad for dozebom stuck all by himself.

Can you have a team with no other members? I guess it wouldn't really make much difference anyway...
Is it specifically team creation that can only be done in the first week, or is it the team roster that can't change?

432
Alrighty, you're on the blacksmiths Alstar. Sorry for overlooking you... I looked up and down the thread a few times, apparently I've got a blind spot  :P

At some point we'll have to decide if we want to leave the teams with holes in them, or consolidate the players we have.  I guess we have a week after it starts to finalize our teams, but we probably should make a decision before the last minute.  I haven't done one of these before, do most people join before or after the start of the tourney around here?

433
OK... since you seem to know what you're doing to some degree, can you quickly go over what needs to be done?

My understanding is that we need to insert a little header into our RC file with our team name and captain, and the captain needs to have the team name and the rest of the team members. Is that correct?

Yeah... I think umiman went a bit overboard.  Spoilers are unfortunate and all, but if you are so sensitive to spoilers, you probably should just avoid forums for that game, especially ones that nobody's moderating for accidental spoilers.

And it was clearly accidental, so I don't think any rake related abuse is warranted... I wouldn't take it personally wiggles...

I updated the rosters for who we have so far.  Teams are looking a little slim, hopefully we get some sign ups soon, otherwise we're all going to have to be champions.

Xgamer4 and Vactor, are those your crawl names as well?
Vactor, want to be captain of the champions this time around?
