Search the gathered books for references to books of more basic knowledge, search bookshelves for those books, keep all material neatly stacked, if available use strips of blank paper to mark various relevant passages. Focus search to magic that reveals and divines.

Determine how far removed from Creator Species lifeform is genetically.

No, determine EVERYTHING about the lifeform possible at current time.
Amended: support above

agreed

Let's just keep the story going and related to the present,

I say we teach the rest of the tribe how to make axes whilst we repair the old one

i agree, i think the further development of technology is a priority, as the viability of a location can change, our development should stay roughly the same no matter what happens

"Help. My people are dying, maybe dead, and only you can help them."

((Really glad we got Communication...)
Use hypnotic gaze on her as well, to help persuade her.  Do it subtly though.
Oh, yeah, do this too.

+1, maybe add a reference to our magical knowledge to make sure they don't try to... dissect us or something

Step away from the raging doodles cautiously, then grab an armful of books, find a quiet corner and begin devouring their contents. (Figuratively).

Just going on record that I oppose any hostile action against the life forms for now unless we are attacked first. We simply do not know enough to take action yet, and I don't want us sabotaging our relationship with a potentially intelligent species when we are weakened and vulnerable.

Approach the orb, examine it thoroughly. Once done memorizing every detail, touch it, test it's durability, discern the sound it makes when you rap it. Circle the orb and consider it thoughtfully, spend a great deal of time thinking about it, perhaps too much time. "I wonder what the other students are doing with their orbs?" Attempt to use the orb to see what the other students are doing.

(( Although i will be in the country for a but i will still contribute here via my phone at least daily.))

Sneak quietly out, look at the people. Then plan how to slay the men and bed the women.
The woman is going to be the easiest of the three to deal with, I'm thinking.
I don't think that's a healthy assumption anyway, these could be mages, or Night creatures for all we know, which is next to nothing.

Climb onto log and, if it is moving, ride it down the sewers past the mice. Regardless if it is moving or not, attempt to eat whatever mosses or bugs may be on the rotting log. We need new evo possibilities wherever we can get them.

and i think for the mice that hes not including tails.
They should still be a little longer then they are wide, lets just assume these are some strange sewer breed.

I think it would be more of an indiana jones style hunt for -insert semi-mythological reference here-

I think that Taskmaster might have an edge at finding ancient artifacts, i just think he would be a much more adaptable treasure hunter than the Dreadnought, Taskmaster has spent his life seeking wealth after all, while the dreadnought has focused on merely destroying the emperors enemies.

That locked box, is likely to have something of value, but may also have magical protection on it. Maybe we should examine it, and if we think it is safe... toss it down the stairs just in case. See what happens, if nothing bad happens and it remains unopened attempt to smash it open or look for key and open it.

Name: Malagar
Physical Description: Short and stocky, with long black hair and brown eyes that dart around constantly. Malagar's height is made worse by a tendancy to hunch over. When nervous he fidgets and avoids eye contact.
Mental Description: Malagar is paranoid and a compulsive hoarder, gathering even the most useless objects in the hope that some of them may become useful. At the same time, very little escapes his notice and he pays great attention to detail, valuing every scrap of information. He enjoys using the information he notes to make inferences and fill gaps in information.
Assets: Malagar keeps a sack full of his baubles and possessions, including string, needles, and bits of metal. His clothes are simple and he keeps few possessions of real value. Edit: Malagar as mentioned is adept at absorbing information, including information others might deem irrelevant, perhaps a leftover of his hording compulsion. His attention to detail borders on obsessive and he is quite the perfectionist. He demands quality from himself in anything he does.

Search for any tomes, scrolls, napkins, etc, with anything relating to arcane lore. Read them.
Also, eat some meat.
