My weapon keeps getting embedded, but I can't figure out how to twist it. ...Help?

On a positive note, my ally and myself have killed off some goblins harassing a hamlet. Yay us! Is it possible to capture enemies? It'd be cool to have these guys detained.

I made a swordsman and tried to leave the building I started in. The entrance was blocked by a volcano's lava pool. I tried to cross quickly. It went about as well as expected.

...I just remembered you can jump now. I wonder if that would have helped >.>

I was in a dungeon and opened a door leading to a room containing a large warband. my men were quickly overwhelmed. I cut off a head, and engaged the warlord. I couldn't land a single blow... I had an arm broken, and the other cut off. I somehow managed to run away and escape to a nearby village, where I promptly retired. That warband will be getting a visit from a necromancer soon enough...

A horror of evil grabbed my shoe and pulled it off. I removed my other shoe and proceeded to beat it in the head for a while.

I'm confused. If no new animals become domesticated for your culture, what is happening when your liaison arrives, meets with you, and leaves with knowledge of the creature you tamed, increasing your civ's knowledge of them?

I have not seen any since starting on this map. I reverted to an earlier save, and noticed under each of the 6 soldier's equipment screens their assigned weapon and "missing item" whatever that means. I am going to try crafting the armor again... So far, it seems to be working alright.

I swear I made 6 full sets of steel armor. chain mail shirts, breastplates, helms, greaves, high boots, gauntlets, everything. Most of it is no longer showing in my stocks menu. this makes no sense, where could my armor have disappeared to?

Edit: the 6 steel greaves I know for sure I had? not in the stocks list at all anymore.

Edit: I have two steel highboots sitting in a stockpile, no bins or other containers. One dwarf is wearing theirs, two are not.

I have a squad of 6 dwarves. They should be wearing their spiffy steel armor. They are not. I did change "over clothing" to "replace clothing".

Here's the strange thing. When I try to assign specific pants, it does not bring up a list of any pants to assign, as if I had no free pants at all. But, when I checke stocks, I have 6 unused pairs of greaves. Why are my dwarves running around mostly naked when there is armor to be had?

I breached the first cavern and left it open and undefended because I had better things to do. Well, right about the time I decided to deal with it, one of my miners came across a cave crocodile that had wandered in. She starting puncturing it with her pickaxe, but it bit her free hand and ripped it clean off. She IMMEDIATELY responded by biting and attempting to do the same to one of his front feet. It was awesome. They separated somehow, and she never rested or anything, just went about business as usual. She's a legendary one handed miner now. One tough cookie.

Also, I just caught a minotaur. I'm building him an awesome maze/labyrinth to live in. He will get to play with prisoners whenever I start getting sieges.

The elves just brought a female tame giant desert scorpion. They didn't like my trade offer, so I took the thing, along with some other stuff. Gonna hope I luck out and they bring a male later.

Unless you've already fixed it or are playing a mod that fixes it, giant desert scorpions cannot breed, since they don't have a child token.

It can still be fixed in an ongoing game, just make sure the game isn't running when you make the changes to the scorpion.

Thanks, I'll have to adjust that... I used to have raws that I adjusted to make every creature trainable as war and hunting animals, but I lost them. Should have given child tokens to everything too.

In 215, a dwarf civ attacked a goblin civ. The attackers had 2,283 dwarves, 200 humans, 5 elk birds and 5 cave crocodiles. The defenders had 12 goblins and 2 trolls. Dwarven casualties? 2,192. Goblin casualties? 12...

"Defender was victorious."

Could you please share your world-gen parameters? I'm looking forward to read into this wonderful goblin paradise...

I wouldn't call it a goblin paradise since they were eventually defeated, had their cities pillaged and a dwarf government installed. I'm afraid I don't know the params, and trashed the world after not finding any embarks that I wanted...

If I capture wild animal men and women, and put the same species in a room, will they reproduce? If so, I will have to start some sort of breeding program... Just for lulz.

I settled near some dark towers, inhabited by goblin filth. We dug into the nearby hills, and are mining out as much marble as possible. The idea? An above ground settlement, walled off with a moat, and a large white marble tower standing in defiance of the goblins.
