Dwanye Johnson the vampire hunter.
If we do this, Samuel L Jackson must be our partner.

Samuel L Jackson and The Rock: They hunt monsters.

AND SO IT BEGINS

no really I don't think I'm going to get a better suggestion than that. This bodes well. Bay12 forever
pseudo-edit I KNOW NOTHING OF SCP the good doctor might be a villain or something.

You are interrupted from your existential musings (as well as having forgotten where the yippie-ki-yay dungeon was) by an abrupt slap upside the back of your head. Turning to look behind you, you are greeted with the stern visage of a tall, dark-skinned man with a neatly-trimmed fu-man-chu and a pair of eyes that seem to be locked into a constant state of rage, no matter what emotion their owner is actually experiencing. "Yo D-dog, wake up! Now ain't the time to be reminiscing about your glory days, we got vampires to kill!" Your partner-in-crime, Samuel Leroy Jackson, heavy weapons master and childhood friend. Even before you got mixed up in the Arena. Sure, the pay was good, but it takes a toll, both on the body and mind. Infighting for fun and profit was such a waste, when one can put their immense physical power to the task of hunting and exterminating dangerous, vicious monsters from the lands.

Speaking of which, there was a dungeonthat needed exploring, something Sam has done a great job of reminding you about. You lace up your [ARMOR] and strap your [WEAPON] to your back. "So Sam, you wouldn't happen to remember where the, uh... dungeon was located?"

The sound of palm and forehead contacting echoes throughout the town.

Pretty much gonna make it up as I go along.

I'm leaning towards one PC for now, and potential new party members as an option depending on what happens.

Nah. Pretty much gonna make it up as I go along. Hence leaving it pretty open-ended. :P

In the realm of Forlonde, there are places colloquially referred to as dungeons. These places exist in varied locations, in all shapes and sizes, with but a single unifying characteristic: they all contain vast quantities of phat loots and myriad fell beasts which must be slain. Considering the wealth of riches inside these things, the dangers within, and the sheer number of dungeons that exist, one can make quite a lucrative career exploring these dungeons, clearing them of both monsters and money. People who do this are called adventurers, and you are one such adventurer, tasked with delving the fabled Lost Caverns of Annihilation. No one knows what exactly lurks within, but it is said that all who travel to the caverns have perished, never to return. Of course, that could never happen to you. You're simply too awesome for that. And so you have gathered your equipment, and travel towards the dungeon itself, located in the mountains to the north. Or was it on the beach, to the south? The cursed swamp to the west isn't exactly a friendly locale either, could be there. You're fairly certain it's not in the tower to the east, though. That's Boris's winter retreat. You've never been, but it's said that the sunset view from the top is simply spectacular.

But before deciding on a direction, there's one vitally important question that needs answering.

Who the hell are you, exactly?

(OOC: Been lurking on the lower boards here for a few days, decided to try my hand at running an inevitably horrible RTD of my own. No pretty pictures, but I happen to be a Not Entirely Terrible writer, so there's that. Also, I do tend to be a horrible bastard when it comes to GMing, so proceed at your own risk you know you want to)

I wanted to ask you about your first repeater. Because I have noticed with my design that the bridges causes some sort of lag (brief-freeze hard to describe) when switching positions. Have you noticed anything like that?

Bridges have a 99-tick delay between when the signal (open or close) is received and when they actually change states.

It's definitely a demon.

Also the relative properties of iron/bronze seem to vary depending on who you ask. I don't know. Just pick one I suppose? They both work well. I know that bronze is heavier, which affects some things and affects other things.

Or you can play checkers.

I remember when this was first a thing. I could actually use this in my current fort, as I have access to the magma sea, a huge magma pipe that goes up to z=90, and an aquifer. And am on a horrible undead-filled slaughterfest. Having such a murderpath would vastly simplify the cleaning up of the aboveground menace, and would also serve to keep kobolds out once the zombies are gone.

I'm not nearly as dwarfy as required to totally understand what's going on in these diagrams... but if the construction works as advertised, holy. Shit. You have just revolutionized dwarfputing.

This needs to get wiki'd.

The question has been asked, though, if we're getting lighting added to the game at the same time we're getting improved vision realism.

It does, also, allow you to leave a trail of bread crumbs. Which is nice.

In my experience, you can indeed chop pieces of hair off. This is useful because it allows you to get more units of animal hair thread, which is the only thing I ever use for suturing.

There is, of course, the problem of spinning the pieces before they get back up.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: How do I execute a werebeast?

While sending the militia sounds fun, DON'T DO IT. You will experience something called a Loyalty Cascade, which you do not want.

An "unfortunate accident" is your best bet. I'd build a lever, build a raising drawbridge that smashes the square next to the lever, build walls on all sides that aren't underneath the bridge, go in and assign the lever to the beast in question via the manager profile, and have the lever pulled on repeat. The offending dwarf should be the only one allowed to pull the lever, so he'll rush over and pull it. He will then stand in place and wait to get crushed to death under a drawbridge. Bonus points: if nobody witnesses this act, then he will never be reported as "dead", only "missing" after a week. (build him an engraved slab to prevent ghost.) Nobody will get a bad thought from his death.

This, btw, is how you deal with unwanted nobles also.

Well, she's also primarily goddess of the hunt. So... maybe she hunts virginity itself? I dunno, greeks were silly.

Ah. I am apparently bad at remembering. Currently the wiki reflects the belief that only specific tokens are valid for usage in CE_ADD_TOKEN, and I was under the impression that CRAZED was not one of those. Apparently it is.

Of course, that does, indeed, not solve the problem of Enyo being considered hostile to her flock. Forgive me I am foolish

The trick is actually getting the correct goblin. And there's no way to influence what kind of quest you get, so I might just have to accept quests until I get the right goblin. Which would suck.

Also, the identity of these goblins is going to be hidden, because the event hasn't been revealed in legends mode. I went in and looked. No data on who killed Smige. She was listed as an enemy of two goblin civs, but one had zero data and one had very minimal data, and neither gave me any leads. The few unnamed historical goblins were not listed as members of either civ.

I figure I'll go handle the other two parts of my quest, and maybe let somebody else give me ideas and/or do legwork/haxxoring while my adventurer becomes badass enough to avenge Smige, as well as actually finding out who the hell did the Really Bad Thing That Must Not Be Allowed To Happen.
