Birdy:
You claimed scum.  Therefore we can't actually trust anything you say.  The only thing that we can do is judge your actions, and see if they line up with the motivations you claim.  They don't.

Griffin: My manipulation game is done. I don't plan on hurting you, or the Third Parties still left in the game.

I laid the facts out on the table and I will not divert from what I have said that I shall do. That I swear upon my honor as a man. When I promise something, I don't break it. Nor do I feel the need to lie excessively as you have.

At this point you may as well be scum. Your arguments are half-baked, hardly logical, filled with threats, and scream of manipulation. We've traded positions in this game. It's rather comical when you think about it.

NQT:
Don't reward terrible scum play in this game.  Don't blindly follow their last member until you lose.  Change your vote!  Or at least unvote me, which would accomplish the same thing.  You still have the ability to choose who wins, so don't choose the faction that never played well.  They claimed as scum! Don't reward that terrible play.  They deserve to lose

I'm confused as to why you are so very, very desperate to have me killed off tonight. My good man, you are flailing all over the place.

I told you, I don't have the ability to Night Kill. Otherwise, I would have been able bully you on Night 4 and this game would be finished.

Right now, you're desperate against someone who isn't even a threat Just let NQT see you tonight and be done with it.

Win with grace.

Now in case I don't have the chance to, I apologize for my rather choice language earlier. I let my emotions get the better of me.

Deathsword, at the end of the day it is your decision I need to respect that fact. Do what you feel is right.

Birdy:
It is not a lie.  Your wincon would be fulfilled, which would end the game.  I am telling the truth.

My wincon is fulfilled when you can do nothing. That requires that there are only two players left.

Me and you. Attempting to dissuade otherwise is a blatant lie.
It doesn't require only 2 people left for your wincon to be fulfilled.  It requires the inability for you to be lynch-voted.  This will happen in two nights.

And where do you have proof of this?

"Birdy-san, you speak reasonably and I know what to do tonight."

"Deathsword-san, you can't know that Griff-kun will stay at home tonight until we reach the night. It is slim but this is your only chance to win, and you've got to take it buddy."

"Griff-kun, while there is a chance of winning to you really expect me to lose graciously? I don't care if bullies or students win. Stay at home tonight if you think you've convinced Deathsword-san to give up."

"Toony-senpai, we're at the stalemate I wanted from this day, we've got a plan settled. We can shorten now."

Agreed. I was going to suggest that you stay home tonight and force the stalemate early, but clearly Deathsword has given up.

Go and win this game for yourself my good man. At this point, Griffinpup has no reason not to let you win since he has already has Deathsword in his crotch.

Allow me to summarize Birdy's arguments for you DS.
Emotional appeal...
Emotional appeal...
A vague suggestion that you can convince me to willingly lose.

Here's what's gonna happen.  You DON'T have all the time in the world.  What you do have is two nights until Both of us lose and mafia wins.  He's currently lying to you.  He's making you all assume that this game can go on forever.  It won't.  My last post articulated why the game would end after one night of me not sleeping with anyone.  I'm not manipulating anyone.  I'm telling you the truth.  I plan to stay home tonight.  I suggest, DS, that if you do have the ability to leave your house, that you go there.  I also suggest, assuming that DS really can't leave his house, that NQT goes there.  Tomorrow, we can lynch birdy.  He has offered no solutions to what will happen tomorrow.  The only thing that he talked about concerning after tonight is vaguely stating that you will somehow convince me to willingly spend the night with you.  Again, if you choose to work with scum, I won't, and we can all lose.

PPE.
DS:
Agreed.
NQT:
Seriously, lose graciously.  Why in the world would you want to reward the scum team for their wonderful play of EVERY SINGLE MEMBER claiming?

A bold faced lie.

I asked Toonyman directly on the scumchat whether or not this game has a failsafe mechanism to end the game. It doesn't. Get your facts straight before you start deceiving people.

NQT, Birdy: I cannot win. If we go into the night, all griff has to do is stay home. By doing that he denies me the win. And if I don't get to win, I'd rather not have you or birdy win either. I also particularly dislike claiming scum, as what I like most about mafia games is trying to figure out who is scum and who isn't. And don't think I can't stop you from winning either, NQT. I can simply loop you back to your home or mine or birdy's. So vote birdy and lose graciously instead of encouraging scum claiming.

If you want to surrender to apathy, fine by me.

If you don't have the will to fight for yourself on the half-baked excuse of "scummies ar bad, i cant win!" then you may as well get off this forum.

I have no sympathy for those who give up.

My good man, I am telling you the truth. I want you to win.

However, I realize why you are suspicious of me. Afterall, I completely misunderstood your role in a dangerous way.

I was under the incorrect assumption that you have the ability to pull people in, regardless of whether stay home or not. When I considered the last plan, I was going off of your description that you are a "calling" character. As in, you phone that house and they come to yours. Clearly this is not the case, and I even today I only just now realized how horrible my idea of targeting NQT was. On the off-chance that I succeeded, you wouldn't have had the chance at all, and I would have been rightfully lynched for being a complete jerkass.

Now, I want you to ask yourself a question.

Who is making the decision that causes you to lose? Who is manipulating to give up hope of victory?

Deathsword. I may be scum, but damn it, I'm being honest scum. I want you to win. Not for my own sake so I look pretty, but yours as well. Take a stand for yourself. You know why? This game can't last forever. This isn't the Great Temple where the game ends after a certain period of time. I asked Toonyman that just in case because we may be in for the long haul.

You want to talk the future, so let's talk the future. I'm not avoiding that subject.

Let's say that he allows NQT to find love. That leaves me, you and him left where he has the infinite ability to stall. This is a stalemate situation. But that doesn't mean it is a hopeless situation. Eventually, someone is going to have to give. That someone doesn't have to be you. You  incorrectly assume that because you have no powers to dislodge him from his house, that you are useless.

No!

You have the most precious power of all. You have time. All the time you need to convince him to give way to love.

Deathsword... You may feel like you are useless right now, and that you have very little control over these proceedings. Please don't believe that.

Alright. Now, back to business.

While your plan may work, it may be safer if we do not allow him a chance to visit my house. He may have the ability to NK, which is no good for me. WIFOM is included in this plan, but as I mentioned we do have time if he guesses correctly or if he stays home to see NQT.

So this is what I suggest for tonight:

NQT, go to Griffinpup's House at Four.

Deathsword, you get the play the WIFOM game, assuming that he leaves his house. Connect Houses 14 and 3 at your leisure.

I'll stay home and do the redirect on my own house, sending everyone elsewhere.

Okay, not really. I joined this game in hopes for a cakewalk, I got a cakewalk. First of all, as everyone already said, the setup is ridiculously, unbelievably unbalanced. Blindly ripping off boardgame's rules is not a good move. Far from it. Secondly, town was rather bereft of experienced players (with the exception of Tiruin). Town couldn't agree about anything at all, lurking was abundant and Birdy didn't do nearly enough about it. I was highly suprised when nobody picked up on NQT blatantly telling his teammates how to avoid sabotage clashes. I was actually about to accuse him myself, but then decided that the townie points this move would gain me aren't worthy of losing a teammate.

Now, regarding individual people:
Birdy - excellent writer, except for one major problem, and specifically handling replacements. 'They were wounded, left and were replaced'? A major suspension of disbelief violation right there. As a mod, however... well, let's just say you have to improve a lot. Major points: not listening to people telling you your setup is broken and proposing ways to fix it and not sending enough prods.
Nerjin - 5/5, no question.
NQT... At first I was like
Spoiler: this (click to show/hide)
, then I was like
Spoiler: this (click to show/hide)
and at the end I was like
Spoiler: this (click to show/hide)
. I don't think an explanation is needed.
Tiruin - 1/5. I was highly disappointed by his passivity and the 'how many spies were there?' comment would have marked him as scum had I not needed someone to call town. :P
GP - 4/5. Very well played, especially considering his lack of experience. The scummiest thing was intentionally getting my name wrong. That was seriously a bad move. Also, most of the points I mentioned in the post where I outlined my case on you are entirely valid - for example, you did twist my words regarding NQT.
Lenglon - 4.5/5. Would have been perfect if it wasn't for the power trip accompanied by WoTs I didn't even read at the end. Also a couple of fallacies (like the fact that I knew the second mission was going to be sabotaged (although true, it wasn't sound :P)), but nothing a couple more games won't fix.
GD - 2.5/5. The probabilities calculation was pointless... and I can't recall anything else. I don't remember any strong cases, whether right or not, for the entire game. Tolerable considering your newness, though.
TWS - 2.5/5. Occam's Razor argument was incredibly idiotic. Picking up on Tiruin's question was a good thing, though. Similarly to GD, nothing outstanding that I remember and if it wasn't for good votes lately it would have been 2/5.

Btw, my first team was truly random. If it didn't have at least one scum, I'd have used a different generator to reroll. :P

I agree with your points on me. My modding left a lot to be wanted. However, now would be a good time to discuss things about the setup if you have any ideas that would help out!

Good game everyone. I enjoyed this game quite a bit.

@Birdy The ending flavor was pretty good although the actual apprehension of the rebels didn't really feel right. I dunno, could have focused on it a bit more than just "Here's how it went own" from a historical standpoint.

Who said anything that was the ending?

I may have one final thing to wrap up. Once I get my thoughts together, I'll be putting on my writing cap for an epilogue of sorts.

Well... 2 out of three ain't bad...  This game was ridiculously unbalanced for town though.

Which was my fault, wanting to get the game on the road. However, it was closer than you think. Lenglon on Day 3 managed to create a team that was spy free on her first try. Only Nerjin was able to convince her that her team was "wrong".

Edit: I complied a few notes for myself that I needed to better on. I would not rate my performance as a GM very well, but hopefully my mistakes will make for a good learning experience for others!

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

A question is proposed. What makes a Revolution? Many will suppose, that men make Revolution. This is but a half-truth. Men fight for the Revolution, but the Revolution itself begins with an idea, a spark in the minds of those men. This spark ignites the very fragments of their soul until it becomes a burning fire within them. They call this fire passion.

As the Rebels stood among the fire, they looked into the eyes of their brothers and sisters and saw that for everyone the flames within their hearts reflected.  Two of them fought for justice.   One man fought for his loved ones. Another fought for revenge and another fought for everlasting peace. Two more still fight for freedom. The eighth fought for his own absolution.

Eight souls in the night, sharing a small but stubborn fire.

In his hands, TheWetSheep rolling a piece of gauze into a small wad. "You should be ready for the mission Griff." Griffinpup stood up, testing his leg wounds.

"Thanks…"

"Griff?"

"Yes?"

"Have you said goodbye to her yet?"

Grifffinpup took a step back and bit his lips. "N-no. Why do you ask? Are you a spy or-"

"No" TheWetSheep replied with a shake of his head. His eyes were cold and sad. "I am worried about tonight."

"Tiruin?"

"Yes?" Tiruin turned. It was Lenglon.

"I wanted to thank you… For your words yesterday." She stammered. Her arms were shaking as she clutched them to her chest. Her mouth moved voicelessly, as she tried to find the right words. "Just… just in case you don't come back."

Tiruin closed her eyes and smiled. "Come here. " she beckoned.

Lenglon rushed forward, locking her hands around Tiruin. Tiruin did the same, throwing her arm around Lenglon. "It's going to be alright." Tiruin whispered. "If anything goes wrong with this mission… We'll be meeting once more in a place far away from here. Somewhere where the Empire can never reach us."

"Is this a promise?"

Tiruin pulled away from her. "Yes… I would like to meet your brother."

"You've turned spy, haven't you?" Griffionday asked. NQT stood across from him, staring a the floor. "I can read you like a book my friend."

"I have." NQT replied, his voice cold.

"Why?"

"I did what was necessary to secure my freedom."

Griffion's eyes burned with anger. "When I get back from this mission, you are a dead man."

"Is everything ready?"

"Yes."

"Then let's get this over with."

The March Revolution went down in the history books as a monument to the success of the Empire and a shrine of the Rebel's failure.

The July Revolution would never go down in the history books. It was a hidden war, known only by those who fought it. As Nerjin's team neared the operation site, they were ambushed by the agents of the Empire. Dariush and Nerjin turned upon their allies, holding them at gunpoint until the authorities could swoop in and arrest them.

Back at the warehouse, there was raid. Both TheWetSheep and Lenglon were apprehended. Further investigation uncovered Remuthra and Shinigami in the basement of the warehouse. They two were arrested for their prior involvement in the operations. As this all went on, NQT stood by the can fire, staring unceasingly into the flames. With a swift kick, he upturned the barrel, sending embers skittering across the concrete floor as tears filled his eyes.

The Revolution was over.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL3hkBD7WJI#at=36

The Spies have won. Congratulations to Nerjin, Dariush, and NQT!

7152
Tension. Suspicion. Fear.  Idleness.

These are the pains of the Revolution

Silence reigned in the warehouse as the remaining rebels huddled together around a can fire. They were tired and weary of fighting, their faces knotted in frustration. In their eyes, the reflected flames danced as embers soared through the air, illuminating the decaying world of the warehouse around them. A small flame in the dark. Like hope dying.

Nerjin was the leader of the day. He stood silent in a period in deep contemplation. None bothered to break him out of this trance.

As the hours passed, conversation began to pick up. Accusations and counter accusations were examined. Names of those who were spies were thrown about in grave bitterness. This too came to naught. When the hands of the clock drew near midnight, any final conversations were wrapped.

"Nerjin." NQT spoke. "Have you come to a decision?"

"Yes." Nerjin replied. Closing his eyes and inhaling a breath, he began to speak. "I know that I can trust myself as a rebel. So I shall be on the team. Tiruin has been one of most vital agents to the Revolution thus far, and I would fain leave her out of this operation as well. Griffionday and Griffpup both strike me as loyal members to the cause as well, so both will be included in this operation. Finally, I'll be taking Dariush along on the mission as well, for his undying and unwavering support to the cause."

"Damn right." Dariush chuckled.  A small grin crossed his face. "Tiruin, break out the-"

Tiruin interrupted him, by sticking a ballot card into his mouth. "I know. Already done."

"Well what are the results?" Nerjin asked. Tiruin stood off on her own, counting the ballots one by one by the light of the fire. With eight flicks of her wrist, each slip of paper fell into the flames and were consumed by the fires. Eight names, to be remembered as heroes or villains as history saw fit.

"All votes were received. There were two votes to reject the team and six to accept it." Tiruin paused, letting the gravity of her words sink in. "The mission is a go."

Nerjin's Team
Nerjin
Griffinpup
Nerjin
Tiruin

"Ah, replace 4 with 6 in the plan I outlined. That's what I meant. I go to 4, you stay at 6, Deathsword-san stays at 3. You cast your power on 14, and Deathsword-san casts his power on 6 and 14. Draw a diagram and you'll see how it works."

I see your plan now. It really is quite ingenious!

It significantly lowers our reliance on WIFOM to get the job done as well. The only flaw is in House 14, where he get's a 50-50 chance with scoring another hot and steamy night with me. While I enjoy the prospects of hot and steamy, I would rather not leave it up to pure luck if possible. But, ultimately I will let you both pick your poison. If you two find an idea that works, I will have no problem helping you with it.

Any opinions on the NQT's plan Deathsword?
