7th Sandstone

We have finished. Today I will call everydwarf to operate the pumps.

8th Sandstone

I did advise the traders to leave, but...

We have almost reached the magma... but something is wrong. The water has stopped flowing. What the...

...Imush! You lazy son of an elf!

22nd Limestone

I saw something beautiful today.

She is an axedwarf, hired by the trader's guild to guard their caravan. I have tried to convince her to stay at our outpost, but she is commited to her work.

Such magnificence... *sigh*

Praise Armok! The traders have arrived!

16th Limestone

We have traded Ast's clothes for some wood and meat. He doesn't need them any more. The traders did question the blood stains, but nothing came of it. It's just cheap silk to them.

The fools didn't bring us an anvil. The day we left the mountainhomes, I specifically went to the leader of the trader's guild and gave him coin to bring us an anvil at their first visit. The damned swine hasn't even shown his face.

19th Limestone

Our aqueduct is almost complete.

4th Galena

I think we have made an error.

12th Galena

Until we can find some new pipe sections, we will have to put the aqueduct construction on hold. Once we trade for some more wood or an axe, we will continue. Imush tells me that we should "Git pipin' tha water intae tha' magma pipe firs' tah make shur tha' we don' fall inta et." Sounds good to me.

15th Galena

I am getting very bored. There is water always filling my shoes, and our farmer Fath keeps screaming something about "Those blasted fire snakes!" For a dwarf who claims to be descended from a 'noble' family (Oh how she reminds us at the dining hall while complaining of her own-made plump helmet stew), she doesn't seem to well... fit the bill? Never mind, it's not important.

Oh how I wish for something to break the monotony of breaking rocks! Even some elves would do, and that thought really scares me. If my mind continues to deteriorate, I hope someone throws me into the magma pipe.

OOC: Going to bed now, will continue tomorrow.

4th Malachite

We have been busy all of Spring, building the outer walls of the tower and constructing water pumps. We will need to trade for an anvil before we can pump magma, however.

Imush tells us that if we pump the magma to the surface and then pour water over the magma, it should cool enough to be worked on. We will need to do this several times for the height of the tower.

We will make Armok proud. Or be burnt to death in our attempt.

I have come to a decision today. We will not be driven underground by these foul creatures! They will all be destroyed!

Obok has finally made herself useful. Perhaps I will not station her in the magma channels.

2nd Slate

Soon the nuisance will be dealt and over with.

I do wonder where Obok's thirst for imp flesh has spawned from. Perhaps she should have become a soldier rather than a mechanic.

I'm happy that she is enjoying her new talent. It's a damn sight better than her one for wagon pulling.

23rd Granite

The horror! The horror!

Minkot, enraged with the interruption of his work, begins beating the imp with his fists.

Soon, everyone joins in on the fun. Surprisingly, our mechanic strikes the fatal blow - crushing the fire imp's skull with his pig tail shoe.

24th Granite

While it worries me that there are still a few imps sneaking around, we must get back to work. Time waits for no dwarf!

27th Granite

There are... strange noises coming from the surface. I have forbidden everyone to go out for now.

At least we have taken care of our food needs.

12th Granite

I have ordered all of the dwarves underground. Unfortunately, Obok has already made it inside.

Currently I am digging out some soil rooms to use as stockpiles, workshops and farming. I cannot wait for delicious plump helmet stew. Currently we are surviving on some brown, leathery strips that are apparently supposed to be cat meat. I can't tell anymore.

I did take a look at the surface to see if it was safe to move our supplies, but everything is covered by a dark, burning mist.

20th Granite

We have now managed to retrieve most of our supplies. Perhaps now we can get to work on the construction, if the fire imps stay away from us.

22nd Granite

I've had a bad feeling all day. I don't know why. I can't seem to put my finger on it...

 "The Tower of Blazes"

9th Granite

We awoke to the smell of smoke and charred flesh.

I, Catten Wadedtrumpets, chosen among many to construct a great obsidian temple for Armok and the glory of the Mountainhomes, jumped from the wagon, nearly tumbling into the pit of magma. Obok! That damned fool. We ask her to steer the mules for a few hours, and she drives us to the edge of the volcano! At least we've arrived. There are tales of brave dwarves, sent to found new outposts, getting lost while travelling through terrifying swamps and worse!

So, carefully avoiding the pit of hot death, I grabbed my pick and struck the earth. I think I can hear screams from above now.

I hope Obok is turned into ashes.

Tougher things to kill.

Variety.

Enhanced roleplaying.

I'd want to help, but I have absolutely no coding skills whatsoever...

Maybe get a project going? Put it up on the wiki or something. Open-source 3D DF is awesome.

The Metalworker's Guild expresses their approval for the Farmer's Alliance to have their opinions heard in the proceedings.

We also agree with the Mason's guild at their proposal of the construction of a defensive wall around the fortress. The increase in safety for our dwarves and the expansion allowing for more to take up residence in CrystalPages outweighs the 'losses' seen by the Woodcutters guild. The growing space lost by the construction of the wall is outweighed by the safety it grants to the woodcutters. They have expressed that as their woodcutters are highly trained with their axes that this minimizes the danger of any attacks. The Metalworker's Guild then wonders if these dwarves should be defending us all in the military, rather than wasting their energy with the cutting of wood. Yes, we do need a large supply of wood for CrystalPages to keep running smoothly, but surely some of the more inexperienced immigrants could be adopted by the Woodcutters guild, so that the more skilled dwarves will be used wisely in the Fortress.

We would also bring to attention the lack of ores in fortress supplies, notably a lack of weaponry. How can we properly defend our great fortress with only copper and rocks? The Metalworker's Guild would petition for an exploratory mining shaft to be dug out, so that more useful ores can be found and used, adding to the defence and wealth of Crystalpages.

Caz, I'll get a name down for you once I pick a permanent Guildmaster... The Metalworkers haven't seen much use...)

Thanks! :)

Can I call metalworker's guild?
