One little nitpick about apotheosis in WH40K...

Chaos gods are born from the warp, and from the psychic emanations of people, because those influence and comprise the very essence of what the warp "is".  This is fine and dandy.

However, things like the beacon, the influence of the golden throne, tech that involves psykers as active components, et-al are all seemingly ignored for narrative purposes.  Those things all have direct effects on the warp, and SHOULD have god-producing qualities in and of themselves.

Why are there no "ordered" gods produced from these structures in the warp?  Could not the vaunted Emperor incarnate as such a being, and make the chaos gods very very unhappy indeed? If he did, it would make much more sense for the imperium to worship him, as that worship would then DIRECTLY add to his power.

But no.  Internal consistency on things like this dont seem to have much sway in 40k canon. (sigh)
In short - people had sex before Slannesh and killed each other before Khorne. Existence of some psychic influences don't mean that there need to be an sentient being dedicated to said influence, unless it reaches a "critical mass" and a God is born, usually quite violently (see Birth of Slannesh). The fact there are warp influences that are more "orderly" but have not yet produced a Chaos God of Order doesn't mean such being is impossible, he has just not been created yet, and in fact, the "Emperor will become Chaos God of Order" is one theory that's even to some extent acknowledged in universe. There are many theories about it, and while this is no longer canon, WHFB had some Chaos Gods of Order in old lore.

Given the effect of the armor on the wearer's personality, though, I'm not sure Larana was a female Space Marine so much as a female quasi-daemonhost. Once she got the armor from Kroeger she didn't do anything but slay, and even he went unusually Khornate for an Iron Warrior. I'll have to find my copy of Storm of Iron, but I think the armor daemon explicitly takes control of Larana, too.
Well, yes, it's mostly a jab at that she used to be used as an example of FSM for a while. Since gene-seed in females (lewd) is supposedly impossible, and considering she was an actual female (fuck off Slanneshi fucks) and that she wore actual Space Marine armor, she really is about as close as you can get in terms of canon. As far as control goes, I think she retains some control for a while, until a fight with some important Imperial Fist when she loses it.

I think that one "canonical FSM" thing was when a Guardswoman taken slave jumped into daemonically possessed armour that was pissed on it's previous owner, it helped her adapt to itself and then they slayed some serious shit together. Lieutenant Larana Utorian was her name.

There's also the risk of a Kroot eating an Ethereal and giving the mind-control game away; even if they couldn't control Tau directly, the phenomenon itself could lead to troublesome questions from the other castes. The same might be asked of an Ethereal-specific ban on eating Tau, leaving the species-wide ban as the alternative with the smallest potential for disaster.
>Kroot eats Ethereal
>Kroot now rules Tau
>IT WAS EVIL MIND CONTROL ALL ALONG
TAKE THAT YOU BLUEBERRY FUCKS, YOU WERE EVIL ALL ALONG!

For our next design, I think we should make some kind of mind control magic. Aside from the usual boring battlefield stuff that it's good for, we can also use it to learn all of the enemy's magic. Once we do that, we win the war. Magically, we become just as good of them, but better due to having our pre-existing magic stuff. They'll make countermeasures to the mind control, but then we'll counter those countermeasures, putting them back at square 1, all while we keep the edge and win the war with that edge.
Can people actually read the rules for once?

New beta patch, some random fixes, and a new game-mode which almost doubles the size of fleet you can use in 2v2.

174
How are the nids? And who are you blasting them into oblivion at the helm of His most glorious ships?
Very strong, bordering on overpowered. Boarding is one of the most meta strategies, Space Marines are also very powerful due to this. I'm not sure about the second question.

It's Melanin Enriched Space Elves, thank you very much.

It's a game. Campaign is fun. Battles are fun. They promise another campaign and some new ships in future.

Let's just hope no dwarf ever makes a pair of pauldrons painted blue with an engraving of a white inverted statue on them.

please stop

You have no idea what you're talking about and almost everything you're saying is demonstrably wrong

signed, a lawyer
Demonstrate. I'm curious.

And with GWS's licensing wing these days, they'd greenlight a game written in BASIC as long as it printed a reasonable enough rendition of the Imperial Aquila to the screen :P

This is a common misconception, or at least a common conflation of two things. GW actually does do extensive, draconian, Inquisitorial quality control -- but for their IP, not the game itself. Yeah, you could write a program that takes three CPU-months to print an Aquila to the screen, but "reasonable enough" means "complies in every detail." Remember, the fraction of their shot-in-the-dark games that sell are meant to be adverts for the minis first and foremost. You may only have a license for three nameless grots, and they may only be able to do one thing, but by the Emperor they will be the correct shade of green.

Imagine if you will the bitterest, most troglodytic, most pedantic 40k fan you've ever known. Imagine millions of them, each of them desperately trying to demonstrate that they know more about the tiniest detail of canon than the next and are the only True Fan by finding the most trifling deviation in your work and braying about it eternally as proof that GW has stopped caring and you're a hack and GW's a hack for hiring you and 40k is a joke now and...honestly just a Youtube comments section made manifest.

Now imagine the department officially sanctioned to keep that from happening every time some newbie dev vomits out shovelware with an aquila slapped on it.

They are GW's defense against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Brand Identity. They are GW's IP QC, and they shall know no fear.
I don't think it's as bad. I mean, Inquisitor: Martyr shows a fucking Valkyrie flying around in space, and I could nitpick quite a few problems which their "accuracy control" missed.

Aren't those nerds fairly easily defeated by whacking them with a stick labeled "everything is canon, not everything is true"?
GW has been moving pretty strongly away from that in recent years. It's really just a way to patch old plot holes these days, and to tell people to bugger off of they get too bothered about a couple lines of minutiae. But their writers haven't been shy about making broad and universal statements, regardless of how they conflict with the lore of people's previously compliant armies.
I mean, I don't know, considering that if you think about games, recent BFG:A2 has Abaddon getting killed by Spire, and so on. I am pretty sure the "yeah whatever" is pretty much still in effect.
