That was the third time today someone's mentioned it was valentine's day and I realized I had forgotten it was even today. It's a pretty low key holiday if you don't, like, turn on a TV or something, I guess.

Or efficient, for that matter.

... plans? No. No plans.

It's mostly a warning I give out from reading the manga; from what I understand it's toned down pretty heavily for the anime, but it's still something that can stand the heads up for folks walking into the series unaware, especially if they end up looking into anything related to it (like some of the creator's other work).

Folks can get troubled when they get hit with underage stuff, pretty often moreso than the rest of it, so it's not exactly surprising it gets brought up, heh.

Made in Abyss is... I still don't know if the anime's quite as troublesome as the manga, but if you don't have tolerance for loli/shota stuff (i.e. sexualization of minors), you might want to avoid it. There's a lot of neat stuff going on with it, but in the originating material they also shove a ruler up a preteen robot boy's ass, among other things. The creator's predilections on that front are pretty noticeable.

It's legit kinda' unfortunate, because everything else about it is pretty untroublingly impressive, heh.

Pretty messed up that the operator, Norfolk Southern, helped remove regulations.
Well, if by messed up, you also mean "completely expected". Safety regs like that, you don't lobby against unless you expect you'd actually need them and don't want to pay, eventual disaster be damned. This is what would reasonably be called malice aforethought, were the courts just.

You only think that because you apparently haven't heard much from the Left versions of Rush Limbaugh.Who are increasingly horseshoing to the point that they're hard to distinguish from Limbaugh in a funny hat.
I mean, more than that, if they aren't being intentionally disingenuous, they haven't heard Limbaugh actually speak for any length of time. There's been precious little in this thread that approaches the nonsense far right talk radio perpetuates, and none of what did was left-wing to any degree worth mention.

So you want a massive expansion of amazon drone delivery, gotcha'.

I do have this neat mental image of them flying bureaucrats around, though. Like, the logical expansion of "bring the destination to you" is that when you need to do paperwork a drone would abduct whoever handles the processing and fly them to your house.

Also flying petting zoos would be awesome. You want pet kitten, drone steals kitten and brings to window. You want pet goat, drone gets goat. You want pet giraffe, drone straps jetpack to giraffe, flies it tugboat style to your house. This is a future worth living.

Y'know, it wouldn't surprise me if someone in the jewish space laser crowd was screeching china was controlled by (communist!) aliens, in regards to those balloons. Parody has died, run over by a clown car of qultists :-\

[1] I'm sure there's a Best Korea thread I can necro, but I couldn't find it... Went back into 2016, so I'm convinced I missed it well within the first half of my backtrack through General. So I thought I'd mark the news here as the closest 'near miss', subjectively.
It was either loud whispers or metal slime hunt that made that thread, if you'd rather try to narrow it down that way.

E: Yeah, it was MSH. Wasn't hard to find, last post was just last year, it's just that the thread title tended to be odd.

For what it's worth, there probably are people that do repo work on books, it's just... they're not in public libraries. That's the kind of thing you see in high end private stuff, or specialized archival libraries or whatev', and is probably contracted work rather than a dedicated position in the library itself. Your average public library doesn't have the funds or the reason (they don't tend to carry super expensive or rare books to begin with!) to have a specific person for that kind of thing.

Plenty have just given up more or less entirely on tracking down media that walks off, for that matter -- it's often less trouble to just repurchase if it's worth keeping around, and libraries have found that not trying to levy fines or whatev' actually tends to work better for getting stuff back. It's a weird thing where some libraries that stop charging fees find their budget increases, 'cause people are more likely to just bring stuff back and they spend less staff hours on enforcement and processing.

... that said, it 100% is a fiction prompt, and one I'm pretty sure I've seen both in writing and manga. Fancy magic/secret libraries, mostly. Lots of sexual tension.

Also possible they bought the clothes during a period they didn't expect they'd be wandering around at night, and are in a situation they can't really replace them. S'usually something going on than just stupidity -- most folks aren't actually suicidally stupid, they're just forced into poor decisions for some reason or another.

Public Library Repo Agent.
We don't have those, sadly fortunately. Most you get is some poor sod doing plz-give-our-shit-back calls in between other work.

Anyway, good luck EJ. Hopefully it'll be a reasonable sort of full time, not the sort that grinds you into a fine paste and shits on your remains.

It's... more serious than it probably should be, tbh. Sugar really is remarkably addicting, and for what it's worth kills a lot more people than cocaine does :-\

E: Like, some of the research done on it has apparently been finding sugar is literally as addictive as cocaine, at least under certain circumstances or with certain species. They have a similar addiction profile in terms of what parts of the brain they hit, there's other stuff going on there, too... cocaine hits a lot harder in certain ways, especially on the short term and in terms of withdrawal symptoms, but it's no joke that sugar really does seem to have a pretty serious addiction aspect. There's a reason overconsumption of sugar is both a thing and manages to be one of the deadliest consumption issues our species is currently facing, outpacing the effects of narcotics by like an order of magnitude or two.

Yeah, like, I live in bumfuck rural florida and I've never seen an actual hospital with less than, like, three or four various entrances for public and several more for not. They don't build for limited entrances if at all possible, as near as I can tell. There's usually a limited number (1-2) of major ER entrances, but there'll be a handful for, y'know, not that. Most of them I've seen beyond our podunk rural ones have even more.

Might be different wherever drag's at, but it hasn't been anywhere I've been that was near enough to a hospital to notice.
