I hate chrome with a burning passion, and would be fairly tempted towards an assault charge or three if you locked me in a room with its programmers and a shank. Use opera classic as my main browser these days (mainline opera is complete shit, basically a reskinned chrome, except it's taking a dump on a browser that used to be worth a damn), firefox for flash related stuff so I never have to turn plugins on using opera.

Wish there was something that was just opera classic but updated, really. The UI and/or performance for most active browsers these days drive me up the goddamn wall. I can use 'em if I have to, but I'd kinda' rather shove nails into my eyeballs than use the bloody things for my personal browsing.

Nippon got a is fair share of portuguese christian missionaires tho. Japanese christians aren't super common I guess.
Yeah, Christianity apparently didn't leave a very good impression when it first rolled in to any meaningful degree. Crucifixions and whatnot, iirc. The effect's diluted a bit over the years, but the initial foot-shooting (so far as PR goes) made it hard for the religion to get off the ground in the area, or something along those lines.

Eh... for whatever reason, there's some folks out there that really don't like leaving messages, particularly ones more than "call back". I've known a fair few folks that'll literally just hang up if the answering machine/voicemail comes on, regardless of the situation. Never gotten around to asking one of them why that is...

Well. I know why it's like that for some of them, but not the ones that are doing it for a reason that doesn't boil down to being exploitative scum. Much easier to fleece a mark in real time than through a static message. Is part of reason why stuff like telemarketers or scam artists will only very rarely leave a message. the rest of it is usually because they're using a spoofed number or something equivalent, and won't give a working one regardless -- among other things, it's a lot easier for cops to find them if they give one to their target :V

Yes, yes, but then you wouldn't get to play phone tag, and who wants to live in a world without phone tag? No one, that's who.

So, silly and ironic as it sounds TRUMP IS POPULAR BECAUSE HE IS MORE PREDICTABLE.
... or at least he's pretty decent at convincing low information voters he is, to all appearances. I'm not sure how you'd consider him particularly predictable, though, considering what he says he's going to do changes something like every few days. Well... predictable on some things, like changing position on a subject, but so far as policy and policy implementation goes I think you'd have better luck figuring out what a rabid squirrel would do, at this point.

Eh, strap 'im to one of the suncrusher's torpedoes and launch him into a sun. It'll either kill him, or strand 'im in the middle of deep space. Good enough.

Apparently there's people in this house that think driving off in the middle of cooking something, without telling anyone, is a good idea.

Oven's off now, and whatever's in it only smells somewhat burnt, but if I hadn't gone into the other room for a snack at that particular time...

Apparently q-tips/cotton swabs aren't meant for cleaning your ears. I'm deaf in one ear now. I was told by my doctor to get olive oil, or any kind of oil, and pour it in my ear once a day, and I should get my hearing back in about a week.

I was always taught that you are supposed to clean your ears with swabs, but apparently they just push wax further up inside, and can cause some serious damage.
Yeah, there's a reason the boxes they come in pretty much all say to not put the thing in your inner ear. I also didn't learn of this until fairly late in my life.

Outer parts are fairly okay, but... yeah.

That sounds entirely too much like the title of an even more terrible than usual bodice ripper romance book.

... y'know, there's that one game, but I don't think I've ever encountered a book that had a slime tech revolution as a plot point before the last day or so. Well, written work, whatever. But now I have. Medieval world being basically slowly uplifted by advances in slime breeding. Sanitation and material sciences advances, friggin' air conditioned carriages, buncha' other stuff, all by way of slime. It's a helluva' thing, and surprisingly stealthy about the greater cultural shifts going on despite the amount of focus the slimes get. Can't say I dislike it, but it's definitely a bit of a WTF.

The Man Picked up by the Gods is the title, by the by. Web novel that's working through the process of being translated into english. Quite possibly one of the least offensive massively overpowered MC works I've read in a while.

Having others take up the slack and take some of the responsibility would be nice, but unfortunately, theres sometimes things that only the US can do (or at least do more easily) with our resources. So, it won't be easy....

Which btw is NOT isolationism, more like using the velvet hand rather than the iron hand, to use a metaphor.
That... doesn't have much to do with a trade war, though? The military related stuff is a separate issue, and insofar as aid stuff goes most of the other major western nations are in fact taking more responsibility than we are, proportionally.
