General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

People rarely care about those religious values.
It's just "hey christian values are good" and everyone nods while most probably didn't even visit the church on sunday in several years.
Was from yesterday, but just noticed, so whatever.

Anyway. It should probably be noted the bible says basically fuck all about church attendance, and at points is pretty much explicitly against it. Attendance has pretty much nothing to do with cleaving to christian values. It's a fairly terrible heuristic to evaluate how faithful and/or attentive to scripture someone is, really. All the structural/social shit getting in the way.

... gets kinda' annoying to see that measure used so much. Bloody church structure trying to jam itself down everyone's throat.

If they don't, they probably weren't really friends/family-worth-claiming before regardless :-\

It may be something they come into slowly, too. That does happen sometimes... an initial pretty harsh reaction, but once things have cooled and they think instead of feel a bit more, there's a realization that, y'know, they're still the same person in just about every way that really matters, and so forth and so on, and then things slide back into a better position.

Though... yeah, judging by the description it'd maybe be worth it to consider just coming out those closer to you, at least initially. Friends and loved ones may deserve the full truth, but bigots incidentally related by blood are probably perfectly acceptable things to lie to forevermore.

... regardless, best of luck gasbug. May you not need it and have it anyway.

Pretty much everyone that's played more than one of them, sure. The significant similarities between many MMOs (and particularly MMORPGs) is something that's been being commented on since... well, basically since they existed as a thing.

Do they even have a coherent platform these days? I remember hearing things about their convention.

Though from what I recall, whoever it was that was their main candidate (have forgotten the name, don't care to check, since the party is about as important as my cat's left testicle at the moment) was little better than trump, and a metric shitton worse than clinton.

Most of america isn't paying an ounce of goddamn attention to anything except the circus, really. The media shinies have happily directed all their attention from things that actually vaguely matter.

Speak of media shinies, though, Trump publicly praised Saddam Hussein... yesterday, I think? Or last tuesday. Again. I hadn't even noticed that he mocked people back in december that got pissed over hussein gassing civilians.

I'm starting to suspect a dead newt would be able to win the general election against this shit.

H... have you forgotten bernie's political history, sluissa? Like. Do you really not see why someone that has been part of the democratic party of decades would get more support than someone that was openly antagonistic towards them until basically the start of the primaries? Who has walked into a presidential campaign attempt after having given more or less zero support to the democratic party beforehand? It's like a first-day intern demanding the CEO give them full financial support for their pet project.

I'm not quite sure what you're expecting, here, slui. It would beggar the mind if the democratic party had thrown substantial support behind bernie, especially considering the circumstances of his campaign. I like the guy but good gods, no, the democratic party is pretty close to entirely in the right how they've treated him. He's literally trying to leech off their name for more recognition, and that they're letting him do that much is probably more generous than they actually have any particular obligation to be.

And ninja'd, but eh.

... just to be sure RK, you're not actually trying insinuate that somewhat shoddy IT security is in any way equivalent to the shit Kissinger got up to, right?

E: Though just to clarify, I don't think you were... but you have worked IT, iirc, so... you might have.

Also doesn't help that the guy's "policy" statements trend towards pretty vacuous. Hard to address something that's not really there, never mind it changing a few days later. Y'can say they're empty, but they do that anyway.

Hoo. GBP is below 1.3 to the USD. Seems to be sliding downwards, too. Smoothest incline we've seen since the hard spike downwards.

Anyone who thinks this is the last you're going to hear of "Servergate" or whatever they're calling it, is whistling past the graveyard so hard even the dead are plugging their ears. This will continue to be raised as an issue by the Republicans from now through her entire Presidency.
Pretty sure no one that's paid the least bit of attention thinks this means the U.S. anti-clinton folks are going to stop harping on it. Frankly, God itself could come down and absolve her of all blame before the entire world and they still wouldn't stop harping on it. It just means their bullshit is even more bullshit than it already was.

Which was about what anyone that was paying the least bit of attention was expecting, really :V

I guess the question this brings up in me is if those anonymous FBI sources were talking our their ass, or the folks quoting them were just pulling the sources out of theirs. They seemed to get brought up a lot, and now the completely official, entirely un-anonymous FBI source is saying, "Yeah, not so much."

What a terrible day for the american people, to have their trusts betrayed by unnamed figures making vague statements to random news sources. Country's going to hell when you apparently can't even believe the words of possibly fabricated individuals with less than zero credibility :-\

Man, that earlier stuff... in that, the triforce is not something you want to actually use because it's something that can fuck with you hard, from what I recall. I still very distinctly remember link growing tusks and becoming massively aggressive after picking up the power one. Was in one of the comics, not the games, but... still. Dunno how prevalent it is in the newer stuff, but there was definitely something of a thread of thought in the earlier about how the triforce had some serious mental side effects going on. Power was the most obvious, but iirc even courage and wisdom would screw with you, never mind the whole thing. Basically not something you use very often/at all, lest you turn into a giant world conquering pig or somethin'.

There are cars where, rather than hooking the seatbelt yourself, the seatbelt is motorized and slides along a rail to get itself into position as soon as you close the door. I have never seen this before, and I'm frankly kinda amazed that it exists.
... the actual car I own has that feature. Across shoulder is automatic, but you still have to click in the bottom part. Is '95 model station wagon. Probably older than a number of the posters on B12. The feature's been around for a while, ehehe.

It's not particularly inconvenient or anything, in practice. No worse than a normal seatbelt, and far less likely to be forgot.

... though yeah, if you're looking for something to watch that's a bit of a ride, consider Dead Leaves if y'all haven't seen it yet. It's just a movie, but it's a hell of a movie.
