I'm pretty sure that already happens, really. It's called court fees. They bankrupt people, if perhaps not as quickly or as often as a number of other things. And I think the judge can occasionally decide to dump the onus of paying them entirely on one side of the legal conflict? Which is perhaps even more like what's being discussed. We just don't call them "cost of wasting the court's time" fees.

Have no worries, the kitten is not deconstructed like that rabbit they painted across half the porch a few days ago.

---

In other happy news, today I have tried cheesecake milkshake for the first time.

Were this a just world, the gods would strike me down so that I die this day, at the zenith of my existence.

Two and a half kittens appear mostly human-acclimated! If still somewhat confused by it. Still got one from this batch that's iffy and one that's entirely skittish, but I've also found the string we had laying around and luring them into petting range follows shortly. And acclimation/submission to the digits not long after that.

... only problem is keeping the other cats away from the string while doing so. Besides the kittens, there's also three (mostly) grown cats that hang around the same area that will run themselves dizzy trying to kill that string.

Next batch is still in closed eyes phase, but fortunately they're (very) close to the house and the mother cat is probably the friendliest out there, so it'll be pretty easy to get in on keeping them from being scared of people right from the start (which is best way, of course).

... then it's finding places for all of them to go, which will... probably be harder than getting them friendly. But still. Step one in feline submission to fingers, complete. Or two, I guess. Somewhere in that range.

Weeellll... it's not the real scare. It's one of several, many of them potentially kinda' bundled together :V

Turns out earth's climate is bugnuts well connected, borderline brazilian butterfly level, and when one thing starts going haywire a shitload of other things can, too! Also they have a distinct inclination towards sorta' holding each other back until one thing goes too far, and then everything promptly goes too far. From a scientific perspective it's really rather incredibly interesting. From the practical perspective, well. "When in deadly danger, when beset by doubt..."

I... pretty sure it does, SG? Certainly most of the literature and whatnot I've encountered throughout my life notes and occasionally puts extra emphasis that stuff, too. Hell, even most of the successful environmental movement related legislature I'm aware of that's got through is revolving around that sort of thing. S'just, well. Climate change gets the most attention for a reason.

Also not just plasticized dead zones! We got other shit going down, too. Some of it even very clearly man made, heh.

Also somewhat helpful is to check the current CO2 ppm levels (which are actually higher than that chart goes :P). Then you can really look back at the chart and go "~135% of the highest amount recorded in last ~half million years say what?"

11227
Supposed to be putting out an economic policy plan by the end of week after next. Should be interesting.

11228
... ree, that has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, the current topic, or the immediate discussion you've stepped into. Please don't.

It devolves alright, heeheehee. Don't recall it just being shitty teenage drama, though.

Still, lay back, watch the show, and think of England. Approach it without the preconceptions of people that's already watched (some of) it.

Though for what it's worth, I'm pretty sure everyone here will at least agree it's better than Destiny! It's got that going for it. And it's got a fair amount of interesting bits! Just... well, you'll see, if you keep watching.

Not actually in arizona, heh, and the nearest free/low cost options I'm aware of are mostly an hour or more's drive away and usually quota'd fairly hard to boot. That search did come up with a couple I wasn't aware of, though, if ones still about that far out. Still 40-50+ usd (plus cost of gas for the trip >_>) which... shit, ~half price is a lot better. It's still more than I'd be able to convince people to pay for a passel of outside cats, unfortunately, and I couldn't pay it myself. Still a good thing to be aware of in the future, heh, so thanks.

And yeah, insofar as the snakes go the only major indication was size/swelling and a bit of shakiness (protip: Watching a cat die to neurotoxins is a complete motherfucker), but it's still a concern, especially with things warming up and the fact that they can occasionally cause death a few days after the bite itself. With the area draining and whatnot it's probably not that, fortunately.

And will do, heh. Cat in particular's one of the handful that's particularly friendly, so it gets attention most of the time I go out the front door.

C'mon FD, it's going to be bad enough as is. No need to be cruel.

... dude wants to get rid of Dodd-Frank? Well, if he gets elected and manages to do it, all I can say is I hope all of you like cooked books, because that thing was one of the best things to happen to US accounting practices in regards to integrity in a long damn time. Don't quite remember the details on that front, but I do quite remember the stuff it shuts down is some of the shit that led to junk like Enron's accounting practices, which was part of what let them do what they did.

Though I guess the details will come out when that economic policy plan does, assuming there's any actual details involved in it :V

Bloody hell, I finally found the official video. Dana's bit starts around here. Goes for a while. Also Dore's bit apparently edited the sweet bloody fuck out of the source video. Grayson's statement did actually occur, though, and in response to Rohrbacher.

Still couldn't find a transcript, but there's the source video, at least.

... also, can I just say the subscription number for that committee is... kinda' depressing? There's apparently 309 people, world wide, nevermind within the US itself, that both use youtube and have that channel subscribed. I'd subscribe myself, if I had a youtube account or even the most remote of inclinations to, but it'll have to be content with a bookmark.

E: Also just noticed it took me two goddamn hours to find that. Freaking committees hiding their shit away from all the other congressy stuff.

11234
... I am also learning that Rohrabacher is both bloody insane and talks a good goddamn hell of a lot. As in, I was going to post a transcript of one uninterrupted talk by the guy as an example, and it broke the forum's 40k character limit.

E: Okay, it's now really sinking in that that is apparently common for congress sessions. Folks, I think I've figured out one of the reasons they're having trouble getting things done. These people are apparently less concise than a drunken philosophy freshmen.

11235
Dore's was kinda' tasteless, in all honesty. I'm still looking for a transcript of whatever the hell that was, because it apparently exists and I'm becoming increasingly annoyed at being unable to find one for it. It's looking a fair bit like the comment being noted didn't even happen this year, though.

E: Though I am learning that almost all of the transcripts and whatnot related to congress on government websites are kept as .pdfs. Why.
