Huh. It's somehow at the uncanny meeting place between too chummy stoner and sexual predator. I can think of ways it could be worse, but that's still kinda' impressive...

If it goes on that long it might manage to hit that upcoming major economic whatever it is in a month or three. You probably wouldn't need to be woken up at that point, because the world economy would be imploding and you'd likely be plenty awake :V

The position is still empty and the house is still voting on it. There is not a mechanism for continuous deadlock other than "keep voting, assholes" and "lol lmao wat gov't". The record to date was two months and 133 votes, back in the 1850s, near as I can tell from checking.

Which seems to still have predacons (near the end of it, apparently)? I don't think I've meaningfully interacted with the series since approximately when Beast Wars initially aired, but it seems to. You can't escape the furry transformers.

I wanted to chime in saying that's too new, but sunless seas was apparently released in 2015, which is closer to a decade back than not. Skies is newer, full release was just four years back (though not any more sci-fi than seas, I don't think?). So... could be.

I'unno, part of me feels like that wouldn't really work. Beast Wars is right there, the robots probably aren't actually that bothered by squishy organic stuff.

So is that actual fiscal responsibility, or republican boondoggle fiscal responsibility? Sometimes it's interesting to hear if someone in the GOP's accidentally tripped over reasonable economics for once.

Idle curiosity if dog treats are safe for humans to eat has lead to me to learning of the existence of CBD biscuits for dogs. At least one brand is called "Dope Dog", and it's apparently intentionally made to human consumption standards. I probably shouldn't be surprised about that, but here I am anyway.

I... can see that, I guess? It sounds like what someone with like half an understanding of the issue in question would think, though. The "everyone is happy but me" thing has long been a major component of the holiday doldrums, to the point I think I remember the whole "looking through a window at a happy family and being down" shtick in movies out when I was a preteen (the movies in question had a happy ending and avoided the subsequent "and then they shot themselves" bit, of course, but it was showing some zeitgeist in the process). It's just in reality those doldrums has a body count :-\

I mean, if that's not pressure or stress I'm not sure what is? Unless there's a different term for art for it I'm forgetting.

I expect the spike in accidental arson with cold temperatures, but deciding that Christmas week is the time to go shoot up a funeral parlor or gun someone down on the freeway is just eh.
It also sees a significant spike in suicide, iirc. Holidays (especially the major ones) can just be particularly stressful for folks already down on their luck or otherwise dealing with a lot of risk factors for (self) harm. All the mess related to them can easily be a tipping point for someone that was already borderline for doing something unfortunate.

Kinda' sucks, one of the reasons I try to ignore holidays about as much as I can manage. Folks'd be in a healthier place if there were fewer pressures around the holiday seasons...

One of the ways I've looked at it is it's basically like degaussing an old CRT monitor. You lose function for a bit and your display goes haywire, but it works better afterwards (usually).

That's relatively standard holiday spike, though, innit? You usually see an increase in homicides around holidays, the curiosity is if there's an abnormally large one around holidays that involve people considering stuff like explosions/gunfire/screaming to be normal.

Skyrim seems like it'd be to big to put in RPG maker without braking it.
Skyrim's not really that large, iirc... bit smaller than oblivion, much smaller than daggerfall or arena. Considering how RPG Maker/a tile based 2d game compresses space, it probably wouldn't actually have that much trouble with something the size of Skyrim so far as the raw space goes. Later generation RPG maker engines seem to be fairly robust, too, for what that's worth (so long as the developer(s) behind it are sufficiently competent).

It'd be more effort than it's probably worth and likely subject to an eventual copyright claim, but mechanically it's probably feasible.

Sitting here in my flat listening to people across the city ring in the new year with automatic gunfire.
Not automatic, but yeah, gunfire and fireworks is a normal new year thing around where I'm at. Good time to murder someone, really. I've long wondered if there's an uptick in homicide rates around firework related holidays, but never bothered to actually check.

Vaguely unfortunate thing is that stuff like fireworks/gunfire/thunder scares the hell out of the poor dog that's in the house. New years (and the 4th) is a time of terror for the critter :-\
