... okay, this is bugging me. Is it just me, or does one of the voice actors in this thing sound like Tim Curry? It's intermittent, but there's a few captain responses that are just about spot on to me, which is really kinda' twigging me out.

There was part of a rose stem in the dishwasher. Section a bit longer than thumb length.

Like.

I get the occasional tea bag? And all the knives pointing up instead of down, just waiting for a moment of inattention (Yes, the person has been bled by that before. No, they put literally nothing else pointing upwards except things that can slice flesh. I take it back, no, I don't get it, but I can accept it.). Other person that puts stuff in there is kinda' absentminded about that kind of thing, and has been putting stuff in dishwashers longer than I've been alive, so some muscle memory is expected.

But.

This is a thorny plant stem. Jammed in with the silverware. I don't understand. Is this a trap card? Is my exodia dead now? Why? Why has part of a rose bush been put through a wash cycle with the things we eat with?

E: Go figure, now that I look beyond the plant matter, it turns out the only knife in that batch of dishes that wasn't a health and safety risk, was in the same partition as the stem. Where's jackie chan when you need him ;_;

I've seen it basically eat like 2-300 unit armies, more or less on its own. It's no petrification, but it's pretty good vs human or lower HP chaff. I do still prioritize other effects, m'self, but so long as what you're using it against isn't particularly resistant to it (one way or another) it's pretty good.

Why carmine cleaver though?
Maybe the fire shield effect? If you've got access to carmine cleavers, though, you've almost certainly got access to charcoal shields, too, so if you're after that you'd want a brand (or whatev') and the shield instead...

Still, path and gem limitations are a thing, and the carmine is fire shield plus some AoE (via heat) for a little less than a firebrand+charcoal shield (2f1e vs 3e2f, gem wise, so 15 vs 25). Maybe that's all they could manage?

Okay, so... been trying to find an nice campaign LP o'this. Unfortunately all of the ones I've checked so far, uh. The players kinda' suck. Hard. Would any of you kind folks happen to know of one where the recorder is actually competent? I... I'd like to watch a run where there's not a loss within the first 2-3 missions.

E: Go figure, an hour or so later I actually find one. Commentary is sparse, but at least the actual playing isn't painful to watch. Mostly. I still don't quite grok why folks don't set boarding actions (and a few other things, like those aiming commands or whatev' if they're not intended to swap between some) to auto. I've yet to see a situation where it wouldn't have done what they ended up doing anyway, faster, and with less distraction from more important things. Don't have the game and almost certainly couldn't play it if I did, but some things appear to be just... painfully obvious?

... the hell. I answered F on the poll not knowing what it meant and mostly just doing it for the half-hearted four AM giggles, took the test, and ended up F anyway. Even with this, the multiple choice tests are incidentally conquered without effort.

Swear to the non-existent gods, if I have somehow ended up with the superpower of unintentionally answering multiple choice questions correctly, I am going to hurt something.

Ah... isn't Mario actually good though?
S'not a matter of whether it's good or not, s'a matter of whether they're milking the thing fairly hard and doing it for a very much extended period. There aren't many game franchises still around that are older and more consistently produced than Mario ones, and it's been doing sequels and whatnot probably longer than many of CoD's developer teams have been alive :V

So... Call of Duty? Coming in the distant future: Call of Duty: Post-Modern Warfare
Hoooonestly, mario related stuff would be about the closest equivalent we have game-wise nowadays.

Yeah, thinking about it. Probably going to give it a shot in the morning... any that's within an hour or so's drive is all closed. Can't hurt to at least ask.

S'looking like one of the friendliest cats outside either has a badly broken rib or something like a tape worm. S'definitely sick, definitely hurting if touched in the notable area, definitely getting worse as well.

Worst part is I can't really justify taking him to the vet, just due to the costs involved and where money needs to be going instead. Looks a lot like he won't make the month, possibly not more than another week or two. Poor critter isn't even fully grown, yet...

I think the book publishing industry had a small headstart over the video game industry.
That's no excuse! Devs gotta' learn t'step harder, yo'.

...they're still making those books? Whose been writing them?
Apparently the same sort as what had been writing them; the things have been largely ghost-written since their inception.

The hardy boys series is apparently 11-12 years away from being able to have a centennial celebration. Almost a hundred years of unbroken publishing. What the hell. People talk about milking game franchises with sequels, but if they're going to match that shit devs're going to have to step up their game.

... I had thought the hardy boys had stopped publishing new stuff a while back, but actually looking at it. No, no, they're still producing. Have changed series titles a few times, but those damned things have apparently been churning out almost non-stop since goddamn 1927. Bloody hell. Friggin' things are older than my grandparents.

But... anyway. There's new stuff, too, I'm just not quite sure what they all are.

I'd like to point out, though, that we do expect there to be an endpoint to a western novel series, even if it's far away and takes long time to reach (Wheel of time...) and people who just keep churning shit out (Terry Goodkind) are regarded as hacks, so it's not like this view is unique to manga readers.
Thaaaaat depends a lot on the genre, from what I've seen. Endpoints are not particularly expected in a lot of romance/western/etc. novel series. Being unfair, basically nothing except barely (or not at all) veiled smut is expected from a lot of those, but still :V

There's also plenty of stuff aimed at young adults* that just kinda' spools out until people stop buying it.

* A generation back, you'd be looking at goosebumps, hardy boys, etc. Zog if I know what's rolling around nowadays, it's been the better part of a decade since I've been inside a non-used bookstore, and I didn't even pay much attention to those things even when I was in the targeted age range. It's definitely pretty easy to see at a glance in libraries and such that there's a lot of areas on the shelves with thin-ish books lined up next to each other with similar spines, though.
