Sure, but it'd probably be a bit weird to be doing either at the front door of walmart or somethin' :P

There's totally places you can stream Rance, though. Forget exactly what they are, but there's streaming sites that are okay with adult content so long as it's labeled appropriately and whatnot.

We should have some standards. "Porn go on the back shelves" has always been an agreeable one to me.
We don't apply that standard to literature even a little, heh. Smut (usually somewhat disguised, but occasionally just... not) is one of the best selling sorts of books and they're often by the checkout aisle or whatever in major stores, displayed prominently in libraries, hit bestseller lists, etc. If we applied our general standards on the subject to games, those rather innocent seeming ones would be right at home :P

... of course, by those standards, Rance level stuff would probably be fine, too. Fifty Shades was a wildly popular book for a while and it was roughly as bad as Rance, if in somewhat different ways. Gaming's arguably held itself to a higher standard than we expect from several other sorts of media, which is probably why it was a wtf to see GOG displaying what it was.

===

anyway, yeah, congrats putnam. Now we have someone to blame for DF issues that isn't a site admin :Di joke, i joke... mostly :V

Y'know, when I popped over to GOG to grab a free game and maybe scope the sale a bit, I wasn't expecting Rance series games to be on their front page, as part of their featured sales.

... for those that don't know of it, they're porn games roughly summarized as "all rape, all the time" -- the MC from the word go and throughout basically the entire series is a serial and unrepentant rapist, and the series does not mince words about it. Probably most notable outside that for actually having a mechanically pretty solid Romance of the Three Kingdoms style entry (Sengoku Rance... which is also one of their featured winter sales, just wasn't immediately on the front page, hadn't realized that had gotten officially localized at some point) into its series of games at one point.

It's just, like. I don't have a problem with porn games in general, or whatever? But Rance, of all things, specifically is... not what I'd expect to see on the front page of a major game distro website. It's not part of the shallow end of the porn game pool, so to speak.

Living forever sounds terrible.
You wouldn't have to in a world where you didn't die of aging or whatev'. You'd just get a choice in the matter instead of having it necessarily forced on you at some point.

Nature invented death to stop the old from endlessly suffocating the growth of the new.
Nature didn't invent death, there's stuff out there that do, in fact, not die of aging or related issues. Don't ascribe agency or intent to something that lacks it, heh. Nature 101 is to suffocate the growth of everything around you, and it's not death that's the primary means of avoiding that.

Hopefully in a case of biological immortality, you'd also be seeing the neurology staying relatively plastic instead of steadily becoming less functional. In a situation like that, exactly how the older generations would react and interact with the new is something we just don't have the history to understand. I'd take the risks involved in trying over the current processes involved in non-violent deaths in a heartbeat.

It's maybe less of a "worth more" thing and more just extra kindling on the warning fire? Not so much more value as different audiences, which is just... helpful, generally. It hasn't just been trans people that's noticed that pattern for years now (more anyone with two eyes and even a basic exposure to the actual facts on the ground through any lens but the entrenched bigot), but it's easy to get insulated from that stuff, too, if you're not directly impacted or interacting with folks that are on the regular.

If reports like that help nudge awareness into bubbles it wouldn't normally interact with, then good? Hopefully, anyway.

If we couldn't, maybe. Didn't is a different proposition, and one I'd heavily, heavily disagree with.

It might have its own set of problems, but it'd at least be a hell of a lot better if we just got the option to choose when we go, instead of the genuinely fucking horrible shit we deal with in our current situation.

I've just now noticed the Lesser Evil brand of... chips? Snack food? Something like that. It's... definitely a brand name.

Exploring space in the Matrix doesn't sound as interesting as exploring space in real life.
This isn't wrong, but more in the sense that exploring space in the matrix would probably be wildly more interesting than doing it real life, because a great deal of what that involves is traveling through the stuff and it's mostly just completely, utterly empty. Even all the pretty pictures we occasionally get from telescopes or whatev' are bracketed by great swaths of stuff that's just mostly friggin' boring.

... it also quite possibly would be far less deadly, heh.

What fairness there is for that one, knowing where to ask can be a problem when you're sufficiently poor. Even shitholes like I live in often have outreach programs or whatever that try to connect folks to things like that and aren't that hard to find, though. The difficulty is real, but it's also often overblown (sometimes intentionally, from what I've seen, by assholes trying to undermine the programs in question).

... anyway, in personal wtf, had to get 'net repair folks in 'cause my connection was having trouble. Fellow that did the repair noted what they did to fix it "might cause increased performance".

When I downloaded a steam update, my download speed had something like tripled compared to what it was a few days ago. I'm not complaining, exactly, but holy shit.

If you find yourself actually emitting, or ingesting, bright green gas at any point during your transition, do talk to your doctor. That is not, in fact, normal.

Flavored seltzer water is my go to.  If I need fruit I try to keep it light.

What are you making?
I... just wanted to see what watermelon cherry A&W tasted like. There wasn't any intent behind it beyond that, heh. I used to do that with basically everything I drank, just to see what would happen, but it's not happened as much since I cut caffeine/most non-water liquids out of my diet. Definitely wasn't drink mixing in the alcohol sense, I don't and won't drink the stuff.

Mostly it just reminded me of back in the day when I was doing that more often, the default failure state for mixing sodas is apparently children's chewables. Someone out there probably knows why, but it's friggin' weird to me that it's so easy to make sodas taste like over the counter kid medicine.

E: ... that said, if you're trying to make apple tasting drinks, go with unfiltered apple juice. Not just not from concentrate, the stuff that looks like someone actually pureed up an apple. Can be kinda' hard to find sometimes, but it's so damn good just on its own, and legit just tastes like liquid apple, not apple juice.

it's been a while since i mixed drinks

it's reminded me that for some ungodly reason a lot of the time when you mix with sodas it ends up tasting like some form of chewable children's asprin

Watermelon cherry V8 + A&W rootbeer, would not recommend at 1:1 unless you like the taste of children's chewables without wanting to deal with the NSAID.

Give it a bit, you'll hate it worse once your prostate enlarges or whatever. Pretty sure you're not even really on the down slope yet.

Cyberware theft, actually. Eyeball pirates steal cybereyes, turn around and fence fresh eyeballs, only lightly used.

In pokemon scarlet I have a donkey, a goat, a pig, and a duck.  Just need a miltank, a torchic, and a ponyta and I could start a farm.
what you really need is a fox, a cabbage, and a boat, and then you can be a puzzle.
