Echo that... not having the problem m'self. Also don't know how to fix it, heh. I think my best guess for an attempt would be to try it in html mode and see if it gives you some sort of response option... the support pages on the subject seem to suggest there should be one, but there's not one in that screenie.

not all places have romeo an' juliet laws, av :P They can be separated, true, but punishment is also nailed to 'em often enough.

Ear cropping was a) originally done for health reason and b) is illegal in many places. Similiar with tail docking.
Declawing is illegal in most of Europe as cruelty to animals.

So... not really helping your case there in my view.
Good for europe, they're somewhat more consistent about animal treatment than the states... and other chunks of the world. Case I'm making is that most folks just aren't particularly consistent about what sort of animal abuses they give two damns about, or what they consider abuse. Parts of europe offsets some of it, but they're still hella' outnumbered :V

We also regularly maim them for aesthetic purposes (tail, ear snipping, arguably declawing, definitely some of the things that get done to birds, plenty of other things -- to be fair, we do this to human kids, too), do many things that aren't survival related that do great harm (sport hunting, again, ferex), and just kinda' so on and so forth. The argument that we care about consent from or unnecessary harm to animals outside of strictly survival related things is still pretty spurious -- we tend to object to outright torture or really horrible conditions, but everything short of that has a lot of give. We as a species are legally entailed in most countries to do some pretty horrible shit to them, heh. The best part is it's even normalized so much in many areas that people don't even blink, or recognize it as notable harm.

Plus they're a terrible source of food per acreage and whatnot :V

Not a very good one, though. We care about consent from animals in regards to pretty much nothing, up to killing them, eating them, inciting them to get maimed (not even talking fighting, just hunting dogs, ferex, get badly hurt quite often), using them for medical experimentation, etc., etc., etc. Doesn't make much sense in the face of that to believe consent in one specific area actually matters.

'Bout the best one is harm to the animal, really. 'Course that mostly only applies to ~half the human race, and can be largely/entirely mitigated beside, but... yeah. Basically much the same reason we have underage laws -- a lot of the time there's a non-negligible amount of risk of harm (bit more complicated with consent et al involved, but eh), to the point it's not really worth it from a administrative/legal point of view to allow for exceptions.

... 'course, that concern for harm flies in the face of the whole "We're okay with cooking and eating them" thing (and what we do to hunting animals, vermin catchers, etc., etc.), but... s'kinda' hard to really expect much coherency/consistency from most folks on the subject of sex *shrugs*

Hey, I remember that. What qualifies more is most of the reporting on the subject, honestly. The situation is actually fairly... good? I guess. Something close to it. Wolscht's family was transphobic fuckwads, the child stuff is mostly just a sort of therapy. Person's still holding a job, etc., iirc, and tried to work things out with the wife et al, and both her and the kids basically said "Either stop being trans or leave", so... left. Definitely unusual, but most of the fuckup in that situation lies with the family the kicked wolscht out, not th'person or the family that took 'em in.

The reporting on the subject has been goddamn atrocious, though. Most of it's been brutally misrepresenting the situation in the most transphobic/hateful ways possible. Nasty shit.

More salt than the Salar de Uyuni, yikes.

Does probably mean I'll actually get to vote for someone besides clinton in the primary, though, which is nice(?).

... nihilistic hedonism doesn't preclude dedicating much of one's life to charity/aid/goodwill/etc. The benefit of the entire species often is your own pleasure -- some of the earliest/most fundamental hedonists in human history held being in the company of other people, helping friends/family/etc., to be one of the highest pleasures attainable in life. There's plenty of folks that help out like that mostly just 'cause it makes 'em feel good. Far from the sole reason for it, but it's definitely an existent one.

I see his name and all I can think is that it's so very close to deadpool...

Just about everything (barring stuff that's outright lethal on skin contact... mostly) has at least one clothing designer out there that makes stuff out of 'em. Once you see the folks selling human skin clothes your apparel weirdometer stops going up.

Maaaybe. In the interim, if you've got the spare computer resources (ram, mostly) and are willing to sleep or hibernate the computer instead of shutting down, you might be able to get away with just suspending the program* (so it stops eating CPU and passing time and whatnot) when you need to stop instead of closing it outright. Some games don't react well to that, but it probably couldn't hurt to try, at least as a holdover until they implement something more reasonable. Is how I deal with most games that either don't respond well to being out of focus or don't have a saving feature but do have lengthy playtimes.

*Standard windows task manager can't do that, but process explorer (and no doubt several other things) can quite easily.

The pork and bean pound cake (that I won't eat :V) has been frosted!

It's a happy because I made fancier than normal frosting to do it. It had creme cheese instead of just butter and milk (and the sugar, of course)! Recipe called for vanilla, but wouldn't you know it the people who got the ingredients forget the vanilla so CINNAMON IT WAS. you get the cinnamon and you get the cinnamon and EVERYTHING GETS THE CINNAMON AHAHAHAHAHAHA

Little overmixed, so the texture isn't amazing (it's still quite good, mind, just not amazing), but the taste is frankly divine. Smooth, sweet, just the right taste of cinnamon and creme cheese... just great. Just great. And there's some leftover after slathering the cake with it! Which means I can put it on something that isn't inherently repellent to me :D

Not sure what, yet, but I'll figure something out. Maybe those muffins we were planning on sticking the pecan pulp in.

*pokes helgo with the thread title* You can generally assume most of the conversation is re: the US :P

Also from what I'm aware of most of the stuff outside the US isn't so much big pharma not being evil out there as it is y'all's governments going, "No, fuck you, sit down and stop screwing people." The US... mostly doesn't do that.

Most of the OTC stuff isn't particularly IP locked -- a lot of that shit and stuff for which generics exist are in relatively good positions, so far as price and whatnot goes. There's competition there, et al.  Also your 30E/month is in europe -- chances are pretty good if you were in the states that number would be significantly higher. It's not guaranteed, but it's really damn likely.

Stateside, it's not exactly a big fucking lie, it's at most a mild exaggeration that missed a few caveats. It's hard to quite grok just how badly pharma is fucking people if you're not in one of the ground zero areas. They're not alone in that -- the position of insurance and such plays into it, as does other factors -- but they're a big damn portion of it.

There's at least one mod that makes advn parties opt-in. May be one or two that just nixes them, too. Might consider picking one up.
