...

Short form. Cop shows up for domestic disturbance. Kills a teen (four shots in the back) and shoots the downstairs neighbor (apparently accidentally). Now suing the teen's estate for assault and emotional distress.  There... are no words.

Folks, we've got an arm-chair general thread for that kind of nonsense. Please take it there.

... sorta' kinda' not... really? It's definitely bullet hell influenced, but it's not really what I'd call a straight up bullet hell. Turns too long, sizes too large, precision too low, too much tanking, etc., etc. It doesn't scratch that itch at all, for me. It's got some of the bullet patterns, but that's mostly it, imo. S'not as... personal, I guess? Up close, in face, and so on. Too far out, too much floaty weaving instead of frantic/hair's-breadth dodging. I like TLF, but it's just the wrong system to really be raw danmaku, y'know?

This, though. This looks like it would scratch the itch for turn based danmaku. The redshift mech, anyway. Still need to find a video of someone playing the redshift, heh. Well, more than the one I've found so far that was...

... well, someone at-least marginally competent, anyway. Would be nice. Arcen's press-thingy of handing out copies to youtubers means there's a fair number of videos out, but, uh. I... don't want to watch someone get their junk pushed in on very easy. Y'know? And looking for vids I've seen that like five or six times already ;_;

... checked out a gameplay vid. This... really is "arcen games does a danmaku roguelike."

Probably going to wait for a better sale, but... also probably going to get this, in due time. If nothing else, even though I'm at least as pants at bullet hell as levi, I really want to give the redshift a try. I may be junk at your normal bullet hell, but what amounts to a turn-based bullet hell? That, I think I can get behind :V

Also, for what it's worth lev, going by reviews and whatnot the lower difficulties are apparently very gentle compared to your average danmaku game, and the thing in general seems a lot more forgiving than a lot of 'em. Even if you're completely useless, you might be able to get some enjoyment out of th'game.

Yeah, from what I understand they were caught in transit to... something or another, about 70 miles away. The destination, anwyway.

And zog if I know, the arrests happened like three, four hours ago. I doubt anyone knows what comes next, right now, ha.

Suguri's the source, now that I search back. Actual title is... something longer than that, but that'll find it for you in google.

E: And yeah, it was mentioned back in august and january of last year. Owlga is indeed the creator, at the least of the conglomerate image.

11917
I... want to say it was actually owlga that drew it? It's fanart of... some shooter I've already forgotten the name of, iirc, mixed with the b12 cake thing. Pretty sure it's named somewhere way upthread.

Oh hey, the bundies've been arrested, and only one person's died so far. Few others got arrested, too, apparently. No clue how many are left, or what they're doing.

Spoiler: FBI release, I think? (click to show/hide)

I don't see how heaven fits into your criteria.
The existence without sin is personality mangling, the unending worship is either boring and/or personality mangling, the bit where you occasionally go and watch things in hell get tortured is hopefully either personality mangling or torturous in itself, implied part where you're okay that family and loved ones, or even just people period, are probably being tortured is again either hopefully torturous, more of the same (no improvement over mortal life), and/or the results of personality mangling. Few other bits, I do believe, though I can't recall particular details on the rest.

Best I've ever seen someone claim it can offer is either more of the same with less (or at least different) suffering or your soul/self basically ripped to shreds and then reassembled into something entirely different, and that's... at best, not really much more appealing than an opium pump or targeted lobotomy. No thanks, y'know?

Depends on the life, honestly. I'm quite looking forward to an eternity of non-existence after only a few decades on this hellhole of a planet stuck in this fucked up sack of flesh, and I rather imagine when I shuffle off in a few more decades I'll be ready for more than one indefinite state of non-being. A nice infinitely long nap has sounded real damn good for a long damn time.

Honestly, though, most religious afterlives are just kinda' shitty. Boring, more of the same, torturous, personality mangling, or some combination thereof, and that's true for both the heavens and the hells. You can tell the people that thought them up were from the time periods they were.

... how about C) enough public service to pay it back plus a little. Or D) probation of some sort. Or any number of other things. Lotta' shit you can do that's actually likely to make the situation better instead of just screwing everyone involved. Three months in jail for a hundred dollar pickpocket is as massively goddamn stupid and/or excessive as a caning is, unless there's some serious rehabilitation services involved with it (and probably still).

Also, yeah, all you'd be doing re: homeless and small crimes for shelter is making it so they commit large crimes for shelter. If they still have to choose between dying of exposure or escalating, they're going to escalate. You need social aid, not incarceration, in those situations. It's a point against, not for.

11922
It does.
It kinda' doesn't, though? Unless you're actually hanging each and every perpetrator, the only message it's sending is "We'll kill some of the people we catch". Crime's still being tolerated, the society's just murdering a few people to make itself feel better about that tolerance.

11923
Nah. Baug specified careful and rational.

11924
Which is mildly unfortunate(?), because I don't exactly make SC2 references. That's a different frumple, damnit. Not going to add to the confusion by feeding it.

only Rand Paul was evenly remotely "moderate", and mostly in the sense of not wanting the government to meddle in morality.
Paul's not even remotely against the government meddling in morality, Rol, he just doesn't want the federal government to be doing it. Bit of a difference, heh. Pretty much totally okay with the states going as backassward as they please, from what I've noticed.

Insofar as moderates go... there were a couple that were about as close as republican candidates get. Pretty sure they've all dropped out, already. Also I've already forgotten who they are, as has the rest of the country.
