Pope Francis is the obvious example of a good thing, but I'd rather point at the rehabilitation of people in prison occurring through religion (by helping them 'find jesus'). Maybe it's a shortcut with repercussions (magical thinking), but it can't be denied that it works.
He kinda' ain't, heh. Better at jawing than the last few popes, and largely much better at downplaying or lowballing the shitty parts of the catholic messages, but still very, very catholic, with the negatives that entails. Positives too, for what it's worth, but I'd call 'im good only in relation to, well, previous popes. He could probably manage better if he didn't have the yoke of his organization around 'is neck, ha.

The rehabilitative effect is also... somewhat overplayed. Often. It can't be denied it works, perhaps, but it very much can be denied it works well, or consistently. There's similar problems involved with alcoholism "treatment" -- there's a very heavy religious aspect to AA, in the states, as a representative example, and it... doesn't work too well. Just about any good that can manage on that front, can be managed significantly better with, y'know, a proper psych-founded treatment regime.

I'd also say the BoS is right to fear synths. Having entities that can infiltrate you with minimal chance of detection and are easy to program to think or do anything (to a point where a bunch of sewer-dwelling morons were able to do it) sounds incredibly dangerous. Like do you imagine something like that existing in the real world without legal regulations?
We have those, actually. They're this thing we call "people" :P

Looks like MS has the XP version here -- download, stick it in system32, do your own shortcut. S'fairly likely they've got the other versions on their site somewhere, too, but checking the first link google spat out regarding the subject is as much as I can be arsed. No clue if it'll actually work in a win 7 environment, but it might be worth a try.

I am not completely informed about "black lives matter" is it a move for equality? Or one for black dominance?
Originally formed (inasmuch as you can use the term considering how cohesive it is) to bring more attention to the number of black people killed by police, and the extent that unequal treatment occurs in relation to such things. Has since expanded a bit into a general anti-racism thing, so far as I'm aware. If there's any calling for much in the way of dominance or anti-white sentiment, it's fringe members, trolls, or people making shit up to smear the general sentiment.

and ninja'd, ah well

We were talking about very different things, then. Fair enough.

... did I say a single solitary thing about legitimacy? Anything about issues with collateral damage or problems with misinformation or misaimed efforts? No? No.

I was noting that what they're doing is what time has identified as effective (non-violent) protest tactics, and that their actions, regardless of how well or poorly guided, is not even remotely on par with what shit like the klan got up to -- as I bloody noted, most of it's not even as extreme as some of what MLK presided over. That was about it.

12337
... plenty of MLK's stuff was just as shitty as the walk-in being talked about, even more so in some cases. Shut down parts of cities, disrupted hella' traffic, all sorts of things along those lines -- getting a test rescheduled is bloody penny-ante shit in comparison. There's a hell of a distance between interrupting a class or daily schedules and violence and murder.

12338
I dunno, it's not like interrupting something is the end of the world. What happened in Missouri anyway?
Dunno the details, but it's been some sort of racist rigmarole. That's literally all I've noticed, heh. Missou's too far away for me to much care :V

And yeah, it was a dick move. That's kiiiinda' the point. US history and culture has repeatedly reinforced that non-dick moves get zero attention and less effort, from any side of an issue. Disruption is often the name of the game, because disruption gets results where not, well. Basically doesn't. Unless it's paired with disruptive stuff, anyway, which might as well amount to the same thing.

12339
And here if anyone wants a direct, zero-frills, link :V

I've got ice! A great deal of it, packed into an immaculately detailed 20:1 scale sculpture of General E. Lee's nethers at full mast!

And now I'll beat you with it until you can't move and the fires go out, while you're still stunned by the all consuming fire and the sheer majesty of the impact of several hundred pounds of replica bicentennial deadman dong!

you actually have to cook the food koss

Well, cook the grits and not burn the biscuits. There should be no crunch to grits, and biscuits done well are not hard, at all.

Witch doctor's probably a safer choice than exorcist, anyway.

Cheese is for grits, grits are for cheese.* Probably a lil'bit of meat, too, if available. Bacon is a standard, sausage very normal, too. Pretty regular thing that's done in my area is to take grits and eggs (usually over light, or whatever they call it elsewhere) and smoosh 'em together, meat/season to taste. Stuff's more or less like particulate rice or summat, usable about in the same way. Butter very normal but not really needed. Bullion is fine for salt substitute, pepper is wonderful, just kinda' do whatever to it.

Occasionally throw grits in with mac & cheese, m'self. It's tasty. Not entirely sure what they usually make them out of in this area, and I also don't want to know. They're tasty, and sometimes knowing isn't worth it.

*Though if you're going for cheese grits, make sure it's actually grits and not roe. The color and appearance can get... very similar. The taste is very not.

... that has a manga? I... I don't think I knew that. I was talking about the LN, which has been fan-translated till around chapter 110 or so, near as I can tell.

12345
Yeah, those big protests for stupid reasons aren't *really* happening, I'm sure.
If there's actually been numerous big ones happening, no, I haven't exactly noticed, especially not ones for "stupid reasons". Even the yale shit that was linked involved a damn small portion of the campus numbers (and the apparently un-cited "hundreds" mentioned is exactly what I was talking about), and you can pretty much lay a clean bet most of that was just bored kids stirring shit, just like most campus protests are.

We've had large student protests populated by a lot of people with sincere (misguided or otherwise) investment in the past. Most of the stuff happening nowadays... isn't that.
