Dead'd be pretty alright. Don't expect to live much past 60, if that, anyway. And I've done all I really care to, t'be honest. More wouldn't be too bad, but I met my minimum for a cheerful end years ago. Not that there was much of a checklist.

Still, sticking around would be alright, too, I guess. I'd just like to sleep for maybe a few centuries, see if my species can sort its shit out a bit before getting back into things. Don't even remotely have the energy to help out on that front anymore, though, so trudging through all this junk is just kinda' tiresome...

Well... you did say you were going to be around a lot of animals. Maybe they won't notice some going missing?

Like here. And yeah, BFEL, yer madre was pulling that entirely from her arse, near as I can tell from skimming over the thing. Can check for yourself, though!

Put some of the extra pay in a jar labeled "free food"?

Do believe the extremely relevant question would be "Do you have any allergies?" 'Cause if you do, being around animals and their shit can be more than a little unpleasant, heh.

That's why I said this specific instance wasn't an example of the relatively legitimate use of it in US political discourse, yes.

Huzzah? Shouldn't that be in the happy thread?

Re: The kool-aid thing -- it's usually somewhat tongue in cheek. On the other hand, though, there is the fact that a fairly substantial (and often incredibly vocal) portion of the US electorate does believe with complete sincerity insanity such as the world ending within a generation. Not really applicable to the use of it we saw here, but it does see usage in american political discourse that's, well. Appropriate. The utter bugnuts actually have a non-ignorable amount of political influence.

Wikipedia page seems to do a pretty decent job of it? Lot more thorough than I could manage, anyway. I'd try to explain it, but I lost the ability to explain grammar years ago. Use it, edit it, abuse it, sure, sure, but the hell if I remember what the zog a preposition is, or actually give a damn about what object and subject relations are.

... so when you say 'outlast', what are we talking about, here? Because several of the newer-ish types have lifespans that are not exactly short. Have had several bulbs that've lasted 5+ years of near-constant use, personally -- those twistly little dimmer florescent ones -- and some of the more recent LED lights are being said to have estimated lifetimes that are even longer.

The republican electorate would shit itself if bernie got elected president. His voting record may not be as left as his rhetoric, but the fact that he has socialist anywhere in his description is enough to bring the red scare rising back up like a senator on viagra. The only reason you don't see unmitigated and unceasing vitriol spat towards him by the conservative portions of the country is because they don't think he matters. They flat out hate not only him, but everything he represents.

I'd love to hear who you think would be the best candidate for promoting bipartisanship, though. Sadly enough, clinton's one of the better options for that, and I can't think of any of the republican ones that would even attempt to build bridges instead of burning everything down.

Seven. The sigma scale is only supposed to go up to six. If it goes over, there's a problem.

But the Eskimo are Eskimo. And also happen to live in the majority of the landmass in the arctic circle. Defaulting to Inuit is a pretty America-centric view.
They're... not, really. The term was applied to the groups in question by outsiders, originally, and actually includes more than one people. They're eskimo like the cherokee or creek are indian, with a similar sentiment behind trying to get folks to start using a more accurate name.

There's been a bit of pressure to correct things on that front even outside the areas the peoples in question live in. At least as far as native <foo> (alaskan, canadian, american, etc.), if not actually using the appropriate cultural name. Not much, 'cause it's not like there's really too terribly many of them left, but some. Part of the general kind of very low key thing where folks try to be a little more respectful to the natives we committed various sorts of murder, ethnic cleansing, etc., against.

Mm... there's maybe software of some sort that helps with that sort of thing out there, somewhere, but what it is or where to find it, I got no clue. Generally that's a sincere PitA that at minimum would involve making registry edits (often by hand). Could be less effort to just bite the bullet and re-install everything that can't copy over painlessly.

... copy/paste? I mean, there's specialized cloning software and hardware, but for the layman all you'd really do is plug both hard drives in (maybe with assistance of an external docking bay) and copy everything (you want) from one to another.
