It does not follow that the US is the cause (or even a cause) of the mess every single time.
Of course it doesn't! It does, however, follow that the results of US intervention beyond the most passive of involvement (and sometimes even with that little) in the area has been pretty unilaterally screwups that lead to more screwups just about every time we've been there since the bloody cold war. US poking our nose or putting feet on the ground in that region has nearly without fail made things worse for something like the last half century or more. Given the sheer consistency of that, it's incredibly likely that another attempt would have the same bloody effect.

Also, no, I don't assume there's some master plan, I assume (based on heaping mountains of evidence and even more heaping mountains of corpses) that going over there leads to the situation getting worse for the area either immediately or fairly soon thereafter, and that going over there with the intent of trying to fix things isn't, just like it pretty unilaterally hasn't even incrementally fixed things in the past. Our track record in the middle east is poor to the point you can just about assume malicious intent (or incompetence indiscernible from malice) if we're trying anything substantial.

Not really you. The continual gung-ho attitude towards incessantly and ineffectually slamming our head into the same goddamn wall has been more than a little irritating over the last... shit, ever from my perspective. We've been screwing things up in the middle east since literally before I was born, actively and consistently since I was capable of paying attention to geopolitics, and our apparent collective incapability of realizing that maybe we're not good at this is just a wee titch old at this point.

Seriously, how many more decades are we going to bugger things up over there before it finally sinks in we're not exactly helping?

E: And yeah, poh, ISIS swept right across the Iraq we had hamhandedly crippled in the most brain-breakingly stupid of ways.

Honestly, I'd actually be okay with intervention so long as it's not american led, and we don't make up a majority of the soldiers and munitions. Still wouldn't like it, but at least we might have someone on hand to keep us from screwing everything over for the Nth+1 time, or at the very least someone else to actually suck up some of the blame and keep us from quite so enthusiastically trying to ram our heads down the sunk cost hole. Again.

Ha ha. Yeah, let's sort it out. Like all the other times we've "sorted" it out. It's gone so well, previously. Surely this time won't be a fuck up as colossal as the rest.

Unrelated, I have a wide variety of bridges in wondrous locals available for sell for very reasonable prices, and it would appear I've found a market whose pattern recognition capabilities matches my ideal customer profile. There may be just a little snark there, but seriously, wanting to screw this up again -- and let's be honest, time and time again we have demonstrated that is exactly what we will do -- is what amounts to the bloody definition of insanity. We're not doing a good job at this shit. We are apparently pathologically incapable of doing a good job at this shit.

Maybe we need to get someone else in on this. Probably a lot of someones. We've made it incredibly clear we're massively goddamn incompetent when it comes to doing anything beneficial in the middle east -- we've got several decades now of pretty consistently just fucking everything up. Let's recognize a sunk cost fallacy when we see it. 'Bout time we stiffed someone else with the problem and see if they can do any better. Considering how low the bar is there, it shouldn't be that hard to find someone able to show some improvement.

Hell, bonus points, the EU et al are actually getting screwed a bit over all this shit, too, now. They might actually be able to be convinced to get up and do something meaningful. Or we could end up doing what the rest of the world seems largely intent on and let it go to rot. At this point, I mostly expect that would actually improve the situation in the long run. And probably every other run, too.

Y'all haters just don't like Mary the cannibal sheep because she's got brown wool
Man, there ain't no hate for the cannibal sheep. I just think she needs an awesome fez stained in the blood of her people. Mary the Metal, Eater of Lambs, Bringer of Silence, Wearer of the Bloodied Fez, the Killing Sea. Bring this to truth, EB. Make it reality. Construct the fez.

12816
Pretty sure it's specifically for the tetrad. Could just be red one's in general if you're being more boring, though, I guess.

We have a cannibal sheep.
Congratulations! Now make it a little wool hat, secured with cured lamb sinew. Probably a fez. Pretty sure sheep get fezzes. Cannibal sheep must be attired properly, so that surrounding sheep are properly warned of their threat. Like a fuzzy and adorable scarlet letter it wears on its head. Hell, maybe dye an appropriate letter (C?) in the fez with sheep's blood. That'd be pretty neat.

What about the whole thing with reincarnation, and also the mystic force Karma that judges your actions and gives you consequences for them later? That sounds both pretty superhuman and controlling to me.
They're both more akin to the laws of physics than anything else. Karma doesn't so much 'judge and gives you consequences' as it is the word for the consequences of your actions later on in the cycle, which is itself not really anything but the way existence is structured.* There's no agency or whatev' behind it all, nor anything superhuman or controlling,** it's just the nature of how things work. No more mystical than cause and effect, basically, going by some of the buddhist conceptualizations of the subject.

*Much like the whole die, become worm food, fuel something else's life thing good ol' physical reality has.
**Unless you consider something like, say, a riverbank to be controlling the river -- I wouldn't, myself, since controlling tends to imply some sort of intent. You can probably word it that way, but I don't think most people would unless the bank's been artificially constructed.

12819
... 'course, that definition would exclude some religions, as well. S'a few branches for buddhism, ferex, that don't involve belief in a superhuman controlling power.

Which doesn't really mean anything. If an entity capable of creating reality wants to compress several billion years into a few days time, it probably can. Or it can just bypass the lot of it and put something down over that seven days that is what would happen after several billion years of development, and let the clock tick from there. Last tuesday type stuff. And yes, I'm aware the general scenario is presented as last thursday. Screw thursday, tuesday is better.

... mind you, unless they've changed their mind while they were out, osg does believe other parts of the bible invalidates evolutionary theory, but the initial creation myth doesn't meaningfully import anything about it. Initial creation myth honestly doesn't meaningfully import much at all, especially considering there's two of them and they're at least partially contradictory.

12821
I think you mean socialization since ever. People don't exactly need religion to regularly get together and reaffirm their shared beliefs.

Looks like it's going to be too cloudy tonight to really see the eclipse where I'm at. Shame, that.

12823
... we're noting you just explicitly lumped yourself in with them. That's about all, really.

12824
Yeah! How are MRAs any stupider than feminists!? They both seem like a bunch of utterly stupid, loudmouthed, insane, paranoid assholes.

EDIT:
(Come to think of it, that actually applies to just about any group that believes strongly in anything)
... and here, ladies and gentlemen, we have an example of a person taking an egg and vigorously impacting it upon their own face. What a sight.

... unless something has changed in the recent updates, CE's about as legit as anything. I use it all the time -- it's just about the best casual use memory editor in existence. If you're really worried, I could bundle up the slightly older version I use and upload it somewhere?

Did you at least check and see if the built-in cheat functions work in the campaign?
