General Discussion / Re: Calm and Cool Progressive Discussion Thread

I, however, am a man.
Every time I see someone say something like this, it just reminds me of the few/several hundred people killed each year in the US in blue on blue incidents. Lot of them due to that whole, "Yeah, I'm a man, let's shoot that home invader, whoops, I just killed my kid." thing. Bloody wonderful, it is. Never good for the afternoon's mood :-\

They are equivalent in some jurisdictions when they end up killing someone. Sometimes it can get reduced sentencing ("mere" criminally negligent homicide, or some variation of manslaughter), sometimes not. Personally, I'd damn sure call it an equivalent act insofar as appropriate legal repercussions go. There can be worse sorts of homicide, sure, but it's still homicide at a minimum. Which would be the degree of equivalence being talked about.

Watching old reruns on the Game Show Network is like stepping into some alien culture.  I don't see how anyone could get excited over the possibility of winning a pinto stationwagon.
... some of us like station wagons. S'actually just about my favorite sort of car from a functionality standpoint -- small enough to not be cumbersome and still enough space you can easily carry most of a single person's general living supplies with them on a move, while usually managing better gas mileage and whatnot than most other stuff that can manage the latter (and usually failing on the oversized metric in the process, to boot). It's just one of the better vehicle designs from a workability standpoint.

Just have to paint it purple and y'can call it a day. They're good cars. I'd be relatively cheery about a chance to win a pinto -- prefer something a bit newer, but still. Been driving a '95 model station wagon for the last eight years or so. Good order replacement would be nice.

... well, it was a mostly rhetorical question, but not checking the url before following does comfortably explain the behavior. Terrible habit, that, but to each their goatse ridden own.

And with boehner stepping down, the unmedicated virility of the house has reduced by 98%. There's none left, jim. They've all gone home.

Now we get to see what they do when they're trying to overcompensate. Should be fun terrifying funrifying?

Also... ree, you're actually reading those things? Why would you do that to yourself?

Not I. Don't have any commanders I need to get rid of at the moment, and I don't think you can send in mercenaries. Already killed off all of those I was done with, anyway :V

Maybe? Ecclesiastes is probably one of the more down to earth bits of biblical text, and somewhat more applicable to folks having troubles than much of the rest of the texts. Maybe not good advice as a general thing, but there's definitely worse advice to give.

I'd probably say just read the thing and judge for yourself rather than going by wikipedia, though. It's pretty short, would only take a few minutes to skim over it.

I understand that the harem genre is a genre dedicated to a very specific base wish-fulfillment, but your problem is that if this is meant to be your ideal fantasy, then your fantasies just suck.
Well, the rub (aheh) is that it's usually not their ideal fantasy, singular. It's one of probably dozens of them, if it's one of their ideal ones at all. S'also usually not intended to be someone's ideal -- these works are generally meant to appeal to as large a base as possible in fairly specific ways. Beyond that, this stuff generally isn't exactly intended to be the high point of someone's media indulgences. It's a specific sort of fun first, any thing else second.

... also, the bestiality etc. thing was more than a bit of a bullshit statement. You might be a titch accurate if you went with xenophilia -- it's more of an alien lover thing than the rest of that -- but there's really damned little overlap between most of the folks that enjoy monstergirl (and related fields) stuff and those into bestiality et al. Please refrain from those kind of fucked up associations, yeah?

Fligertyfriggin cherry stem right in the eyeball. Do you know what cherry juice slathered shaft feels like shoved into your sclera? Pain. It feels like pain.

... anyway, happy birthday whoever it is this time. Enjoy seed sprong janked into your brainpan holsters.

That's the main "more generalized" I was talking about :P

Still floating back ways a bit, I think. Bloody computer and its ruddy monkeys.

12852
... yeah, in most parts of the states (that I'm aware of) it just means OK. Like how it looks.

e: Actually, now that I think of it, I'm not even sure if the US has any wide spread vulgar hand gestures for that. They're usually more generalized, at least from what I've bothered noticing.

12853
Yeah... something like that, anyway. Though his approval ratings among conservatives dropped to 45% over the course of the last year. S'actually been on a bit of a downslope with the US in general, but it's been worse on that end.

Un(?)fortunately, a fair amount of the folks in the US don't like the guy, and disagree on what those core american values are. Plus most of the things he's saying take responsibility about are things at least half our political spectrum is screaming "hell no" in response to, heh. Fun bit is it even varies a lil' which half is screaming that. There's something about Current Pope for everyone to hate, apparently.

Pretty sure we've already got conservatives pissing fire into the air about his words regarding climate change and immigration, ha, if nothing else. Been having that for a while now, really.

Never have russians been accused of being good navigators, nqt. It's even worse when they're taking cues from american idiots :V

Communists can totally be magic. There's an internet full of soviet magical girls as proof!

Above and beyond that, the antichrist can manage being even the antimagic ones. It's a neat hat trick. The devil's whiles are many. Its wiles are many, too.
