I... I probably shouldn't, but I'll give it a shot. Been starting to itch for another dominions game, heh.

Which seemed to do pretty well, yeah. Hell, that's half the plot of most daytime drama shows, which have plenty of viewers and occasionally critical acclaim.

Though the obvious thing is to take out the badly written part (which, y'know, is the whole shtick we're talking about), in which case you have any number of pretty decent slice of life/drama works.

A neat thing related to the subject would be how Jim Butcher's Codex Alera started as an internet dare over whether Jim could make a good story out of two "lame" ideas of the challengers choosing. (The challenger chose The Lost Roman Legion and Pokemon)

... I hadn't heard of that. It... it's actually pretty obvious, in hindsight, that those two could be labeled as influences for the series. You wouldn't know it without knowing it beforehand, though. Pretty impressive!

Technically it's a series of bullet hell vertical shooters known for its difficulty and near lack of male characters. Practically, it's a massive fandom that involves junkloads of spinoff games (Including everything from dungeon crawlers to fighting games to Super Robot War knockoffs to megaman/castlevania expies and more) and great, huge, throbbing piles of artwork and other sorts of fan created media, much of it porn. I would tentatively label it "Pretty great" all told, if for no other reason than it's inspired some pretty interesting stuff.

Plenty of places, but they tend to implode and die in fairly short order.

More seriously, if you're feeling like that, the appropriate thing to do is not to discuss it here, but just go. Maybe go ask on /b/ if there's anywhere online that's like it but uses different forum software.

... on the happy side of things, the process involved in finding that origin pic reminded me of a joke about bear hunting. That I can't post, because the punchline is basically bear sodomy, but have a snippit:

Weird to think the first time I encountered it was at least as far back as '01. The things that stick to the memory, eh?
