Or a concussion. Or both, I guess.

... all of them :V

Don't really have a favorite path. Going pure... anything... would be a total pain in the behind. Except maybe blood but running a blood economy is a total nuisance >_>

Definitely like some of the nature spells, though. GoH is golden. Kelpmaker is occasionally useful. Other stuff in there, too. Just don't really like its combat spells (barring I guess the buffs, but the good/easily usable ones are all high research and uggh), or most of its summons.

... y'know, she could have not been falling for it. Her and neighbor in cahoots, seeing if they can set the grounds for a lawsuit or somethin'. Maybe there wasn't a concerned neighbor to begin with. Hell, if that refund included parts of the month or whatev' she had already used, she just made some bank.

Alternately, there's still plenty of people, some of them young, that don't really have more than a skin-deep (if that) understanding of the whole computer thing. Between that and the fact that some folks are just natural victims for your average confidence artist, and you've got scenarios like you dealt with. It happens more than you'd want to think it would :-\

E: Also color me mildly curious what neighbor was doing with 50 gigs/day throughput. Don't suppose that kind of suspicious activity is enough reason for your company to do some checking, is it?

They could have gone with any of the other construction options that don't make the place look like it is selling pizzas or lap dances, though.
... maybe they have an exotic dancing degree path? I think some colleges offer something like that. And there's good odds that they have a culinary program, so, uh. They may actually be more or less selling pizzas and lap pole dances.

General Discussion / Re: Let's say Mars is inhabited. What are the results?
« on: September 03, 2015, 11:12:13 pm »
... what part of the scenario given posits a more intelligent species being on mars, anyway? Nothing described is notably advanced. You've got what might be an entrance and a keypad. That... we have lots of those. Hell, the scenario given doesn't even necessarily posit intelligent species being alive at all, unless the rock chomp is it. All the smart ones could be dead, or chilling on pluto while robots maintain whatever's on mars or who knows what. It could alternately be the discovery that time travel is in fact possible, or that we're a splinter colony for a much more wide spread empire.

As for the actual OP's question, can only imagine communication attempts would ratchet up, as well as a sudden and concentrated effort to make sure our nukes can reach orbit and be aimed afterwards. Maybe the unveiling of a handful of previously unmentioned orbital weaponry systems, too. You'd see hella' paranoia, but also pretty immediate attempts at diplomatic overtures, assuming there's anything there to be diplomanced at. Maybe even actual global funding for a better equipped martian mission to go try to knock or somethin'. We probably want to get our paws on the technology base that's managed to stay maintained in martian conditions :V

Near as I've been able to notice (in admittedly cursory passing), she's a relic of nepotism that people voted for because her mother held the same position. Had nothing to do with representation and everything to do with name recognition.

And @rol, ah. Fair enough. Do remember: When in doubt, georgia is the sarcasm font.

It means there's functionally zero enforceable quality control on who gets in, and getting them out is a complete bastard. Doctor, you need a degree, and you can probably be fired if you bugger up. Elected nitwit, can be anyone (fun times, the county I'm in had an illiterate alcoholic -- and note, there is no hyperbole or exaggeration in that label -- in a position higher up in the chain than the person being discussed), usually easier to just sit on arse and wait for term to expire than remove. Note this blighter still hasn't been removed from her position or anything official, so far as I'm aware, she's just in bloody jail.

Basically, you can conceivably enforce job performance heuristics on a doctor, and questioning proper level of enforcement regarding them is a meaningful discussion. Doing that to a politician is close to impossible, and is usually only discussed on the other end of a pitchfork.

It'd be nice if they did their job regardless of other pressures, obviously, but you get what you vote for. Blame the electorate :V

... they were an elected official. Not hired. Doctor example is not really applicable. Since, you know. It wasn't really a career, it was a political position.

I'm not sure why you think they couldn't resign, though, rol? Pretty sure there were no real obstacles to that beyond maybe an emergency vote, and there's usually procedure laid down to handle the position in the interim period. From most accounts I've been hearing, the office in question would probably have ran better with the critter gone anyway.

... was it hard lemonade, or just, well. Lemonade?

... not sure how I'm supposed to feel about that considering chansey is apparently one of the best special walls in the entire series. That... could be a pretty fair trade, depending on the rest of your team or who you're going up against.

E: Especially among just the first gen stuff, iirc. If my memory's not failing me a properly built chansey can shut down/cause the crushing of entire team comps. Is... is this stealth support from a veteran competitive pokemon player?

... do you at least have titles? If so, most things can be found online, especially if they're even remotely well known.

No, pretty much regardless. New material's being made faster than a person can consume it. You could spend every hour of every day, without food, sleep, or pause, reading, watching, listening, etc., and still fall behind. A single person's just not capable of keeping up with the collective output of seven billion and growing.

Frankly, is one of the best things the internet and what computers have brought about. A person physically can not run out of interesting things to peruse. That's pretty great, t'me.

I ment WHAT game maker
And here we have an example of why paying attention to capitalization is important.

Game Maker is the name of the game maker in question. That's why people were capitalizing it.

@cript: 17, yeah. And definitely dipshit parents as RK noted. The kids pretty regularly see about as much or more skin at the beach/pool/etc. or on TV (we'll not mention the internet, or what goes on on school internet connections), and with considerably less educational merit involved. Bonus points in that the illustration is less violent than the more common example (eats, shoots and leaves).

And mainiac, bisexual stag/hen party? Stalin's got hella' legs on 'im, I could see the guy on stage. Jfk probably knows how to party. Strippers are obvious. Sounds like the combination to a night no one will forget even if they really really wanted to.

Though I guess they'd have to be either necromancers or very dedicated taxidermists at this point. Still.
