... yes? It does seem to, yes. We've been having a bit of a problem with that for a long damn time.

Will say that one facet of using drones would be that there would be even less of a chance of immediate medical assistance if something buggers up. Be vaguely interesting to see if that plus ease of use mitigates the recording and reduction in (perceived) immediate danger aspects insofar as needlessly dead people go. Automation could maybe help out, though. Mandate drone weapons use comes with a direct ambulance call? That might at least somewhat address the problem of police sitting on their arses while people bleed out/have heart attacks/etc. instead of actually bloody doing something about it.

My preferred end state is simple checks at the airports and bullets for the smugglers beyond the channel, as once they're in Italy they're either going to Germany or Calais. I see zero impracticality or moral ambiguity in regards to killing human traffickers, who are plain and simple scum. I'm not talking about death penalty as they do in the east, more simple use of lethal force to disrupt trafficking operations in north africa and turkey. Dead smugglers never contributed to their country, their people, my country or my people - they are of value only to themselves, sending people off without their money on a rickety boat they don't care about for futures quite shite providing they don't just die in the med or get electrocuted in Calais.
... so drastically increase the chances of the smugglers being even worse sorts of people. Double-down on the likelihood of hostage situations and atrocities beforehand. Give massive incentive to smugglers to start resorting to violence when caught. Make sure that the trip and arranging it is even more dangerous for the refugees and immigrants, while doing jack-all to reduce the pressures causing them to flee their originating point.

I've never quite understood why anti-immigration folks seem so damned and determined to escalate from just bloody killing them to doing their best to make sure the people are tortured and then killed. It's like the identified chain of cause and effect stops one stop out and refuses to go any further, presumably in the name of some twisted (almost entirely unrealistic) conceptualization of deterrent.

"Sure, I surrounded their yard in explosives and incendiaries to try to get them to stop smoking, but they're the ones that caused the fire that set it all off. Clearly it's their fault the neighborhood burned down, not mine."

... can we at least agree that "Shoot them until they stop coming" is both unworkable and heinous, just to get that out of the way and sideline LSP/LW's apparent preferred end state?

'Bout the only $0.02 I'd have to add is that I rather imagine folks in general would be doing a better job of things if all that money being spent on detainment, deterrent, and abuse, was instead spent on integration, processing, and maybe not being complete fuckwits abroad. Might help out a titch, I'unno. It'd be nice to see someone actually try one of these days, in any case.

The answer, of course, is the camera surgically implanted in their skull uploading everything it sees to Youtube.

Thank google's image results for "SNES friends frozen" sans quotes, heh. Have played terranigma before (great game, etc., etc.), but it's been quite a while and I didn't actually remember the bit with the frozen people. Still, glad to help :V

... terranigma?

On the flip side, built in cameras that can't be removed and the drone still function correctly. Mandate recording and video retention with loss being an admission of guilt and you might actually see police violence reduce.

On the flip flip side, maybe we need to have employment into law enforcement come with compulsory installation of a camera into the forehead. Then the only way to stop recording is to lose your head :V

... if you're that incapable of grasping that the only thing fucked up in his house was him, LW, I guess that's all there is to say on the subject. Continue having fun being deluded o7

... if it makes it any more clear, yes, the guy was fucked up. His house wasn't to any particularly notable degree. Which is what baug was saying, and is absolutely accurate.

game promote critical thinking and questioning of preconcieved notions than the typical mindless "good vs. evil" junk you'd expect. It's probably the game's biggest strength, or at least the most compelling reason to go back and play it besides nostalgia, since it's otherwise pretty unremarkable.
I'd probably agree that's what they tried, heh. It just came off more looking like the main character was a bit of a genocidal sociopath/hitler youth member, which I guess may have been the point but goddamn. I have no mouth and yet I must kill/stand aside for genocide/commit wide scale ethnic cleansing/sup on the tears of the condemned.

I guess it was pretty unusual to put the player pretty firmly on the side of (at best uncaring, at worst genocidally xenophobic) evil, though. Especially considering how little it was telegraphed before you start up the train to remorseless murdertown :V

Cat faeces were also found smeared on the balcony.

Stuff like that can't be normal in Murrica?
... when you have cats, there's a good chance that does occasionally happen. When you're actively suicidal and about to go kill other people and then yourself, that's likely an issue that's not going to be dealt with. That's pretty much the only odd thing about what's described regarding the state of the house, and while it is potentially indicative of insanity (and could be indicative of just being busy and not having gotten around to cleaning up a mess), it's not something that gives you room to call the place a loony bin. It (and maybe the sex toys, but honestly that's not exactly major for a bachelor) is pretty much the only substantially odd note about what's described in the article, at least regarding the place of residence.

Dude's actions were in line with a bit of the loco (understandable considering he was goddamn insane), but the joint he was living in was pretty normal going by what was described.

Sold nextech a broken one, but something like that. I'm still just kinda' boggling at the last quarter or so of that ruddy game. Someone... someone thought it was a good idea. Somehow. In a game marketed to kids. Bloody hell.

... have just finished watching a playthrough of crusader of centy. Old genesis action/rpg, zelda style with a bit more dialogue. The moral of the story is... ethnic cleansing.

No, seriously.

So this is more than a little hilarious. Tl;dr version: Some business owners in an area manage to gerrymander up some bullshit intended to more or less give them control over a (community improvement, which appears to be sorta' like a smaller voting district related to specific issues) district. Unbeknownst to them, someone registered to vote from an address in the area while they were dicking around trying to bugger our political system up the arse, and we now have, for at least a little while, a pseudo-voting district with a population of exactly one actual voter. Who is apparently leaning towards promptly buggering the bastards right back via her unilateral control over any and all vote-related decrees for the area in question :V

Considering the seven hundred plus tons of coal left over, I'd instead say it's a christmas prank that didn't go far enough.

... though to the power wheelchair, don't fall for the trap. First you get one for 25 bucks, fail to get anything done with it, and consign it to a barn. Then, a powered scooter. Then another powered wheelchair. Soon, you've got a half dozen of the damned things, none of them work, and you're always making excuses about fixing the battery or the wheels or whatever when in reality they're just slowly going to rot as you sink more money into a project that will not only not produce anything of worth, but will continue to eat your savings bit by bit, eventually leaving your children with a dozen worthless mobility devices they can't even give away, each with enough money sunk into them to buy a new car. Don't go down that path RK. Not so soon.
