Until natural philosophy matured enough to start branching into individual fields, yeah. Roughly speaking. There was a fair lot of overlap between the natural philosophers (nascent scientists) and the thinkier ones, though. You'd have folks doing logic and sciencey stuff hand in hand and whatnot.

Still math isn't either of those two. Neither is history or english (ok english a bit)
English and history both fall under the (liberal) arts, Cryx, entirely (it's one of the reasons degrees in those fields are mostly junk :V). Math can fall under either, though from what I understand the more prominent degrees in the field are * of Arts -- Baug hit the relevant points there fairly solidly. Engineering can go both ways, too, though I want to say the lean in that field is towards * of Science. Point being, the only thing Arc really miscolored was chemistry, with a "maybe" on engineering.

... also, every time I see that XKCD, I always see this bearded critter in a toga way further off to the right wondering what the hell all these kids are doing on their lawn. Philosophy was here first, you whippersnappers. It built your field up from the ground! *rheumatic grumbling*

... so if the SPD can't go further left under this assumption, how much room does that leave the dems to keep going? Can't recall what the SPD's positions are, but given they're european I can only assume they're godless commie heathens so far on the left they make a god fearing republican cry tears of blood.

Maybe it was just a tribute to his latent homosexual tendencies.
Latent homosex tendencies on bay12 with oscillating penguins and emo ISIS? I know where this is going, and Oscar Wilde definitely approves.
Well, they would have a harder time functioning as an organization if they all had vibrating waterfowl shoved up their bum... as causes of depression go, "penguin impacted intestines" are pretty high up there.

Nah that would be if they just stayed at the station, and let society crumble without the rule of law.  I suppose some anarchists might be okay with that, which is just sad.
Ha ha ha. Remember when the cops actually more or less did that in... new york, wasn't it? Somewhere or another. Just stopped enforcing most laws in a fair amount of places. And things improved, significantly, for a great deal of the area's population. Thing you have to remember is that in a number of places in the US, the police force already doesn't represent "the rule of law". Rather, they're as much a source of local problems as any criminals are, sometimes even more so.

LEO corruption and abuse in the US (and elsewhere, where it's often just as bad or, at times, worse) isn't something you can just brush off as some kind of reciprocal cycle, unfortunately. The institution in general is rotten as hell in a lot of places, and outside pressures (such as public view of police officers starting to come more in line with the reality of how a lot of said officers act) only accounts for a portion of that. The balance of power/effect/whatever isn't equal.

Still, yeah, LEOs actually getting caught at the shit they do more often, and finally starting to have to rein themselves in a bit (which is maybe starting to happen! It's kinda' hard to tell.), would almost certainly get them to start the internal reforms necessary for external reactions to start being less belligerent. Hopefully the camera et al movements gaining traction will help with that, to some degree. Maybe in my lifetime we'll actually see cops regularly fired for misconduct without requiring the existence of widely dispersed video evidence :V

Not that I really think the lot starting this particular discussion will get fired, of course. Dunno if we've gained that much ground, yet.

... this ruddy game. Emerald Dragon. I guess it's somewhat forgivable considering it's an old SNES game, but... game designers. I just want to tell you lot that, after about the second or third time you murder off team members in relatively rapid succession, it starts losing its impact.

Incidentally, for those who play it

I'm kinda' amused how they mostly just don't bother leveling up your allies, though. Why do something like that when you can
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's like playing X-com, except they're trying to build a character driven narrative.

Who knows.

That said, while I can't really help with the question, exactly (it's been several years since I've messed around with burning anything cd/dvd wise), I will note it can depend on the DVD player. There's a fair few that will just straight up play data files off a DVD, no need for anything fancy. Might be a good idea to check and see if whatever one you're using isn't one of those, if you haven't already, before you expend any particular effort on the project.

Perfectly willing to pull out a memory editor and bugger a game into playability if it starts to annoy me. Or mod the thing, if it's something I can actually manage on my own (and something's not already available). Guides, code-diving, etc., are the half-way point to that, ha. So... fairly far, I guess.

Mind you, when it comes to multiplayer games, if I'm not playing with people I actually know, generally my first action is "Mute Everyone", so all that community shame bullshit is preemptively stuffed up their collective tukhus. Similarly, people that insist on reading guides, etc., as being necessary to play the game get ignored. My enjoyment of a game usually comes after shutting up everyone else playing it :V

... aren't they like a half a decade and change too late to be banning CD ripping? Last I checked most folks have just transitioned to using flash drives or uploads or whatev'.

Though I guess that's more burning than ripping. Still, pretty sure CD sales in general are kinda' going kaput due to online stuff...

E: Though looking at the article, it seems to be format shifting in general, which iTunes does as well.

What would be amazing would be if apple said blanket to every artist they work with: "Stop selling in the UK or lose iTunes support everywhere." I'd go out and buy the cheapest apple product I could find if they did that. Once.

Also you should change the title to cheese pun.
... the title is cheese pun. Is feta cheese not on the banned list?

... SPAZ? Didn't actually listen to the sound on that one, though. Just assuming from it's nature it has something like that :P

Anything else you can remember? Genre, art style (2D vs 3D, etc.)?

Except that those have very little to do with Biblical (and fanfiction) Satan, apart from the self-determination thing.
Well, fanfiction no, but biblical... well, do remember the bible doesn't really say much about satan, other than it (assuming the biblical satan is even a singular being) occasionally trying to tempt people away from its pappy. Those are about as in line with that as anything. The fanfiction is significantly more explicit, for what it's worth.

Quote
c) Why do you refer to Satan as 'unholy', given that the goals you strive for fall exactly in line with the western (and christian) concept of goodness, holiness, and/or purity?
The devil (heh) is in the details, arx. Each of those gates have something in them that, while broadly speaking in line with what western traditions may consider good, are explicitly contrary to what many western traditions -- especially christianity -- consider holy. And there's often a helluva' difference between those two.

As the example, christianity has a strong message disdaining personal responsibility to any fundamental degree (forgiveness, god's will), encourages what satanism (so far as I'm aware) would consider disordinate passions (such as holy fervor), barely gives a damn about intoxicating substances (alcohol, in particular, is broadly speaking A-Okay), is perfectly okay with harming others under many conditions, encourages or allows many of the forbidden occupations (particularly the animal slaughter bit), encourages divisive speech (proselytizing), has desire for (god's) recognition as what amounts to a core tenant of its beliefs, and considers the ultimate goal to be the acquiring of an external good (god's blessing/salvation, which cannot come from the self). Many other western traditions are... well, of a similar nature. The gates are considered unholy because they're contrary to what is considered holy, more or less, so far as I understand things.

... you know what'd be great? If those screenshots were a fakeout and this the prelude to a PI-style Spelljammer game. I'd actually buy that, I think.

Maybe syrup is for eating. Molten syrup moat just means an excuse to finally cook those mile wide pancakes and waffles.

... pretty sure the people that complain about those things are (mostly) distinct groups, c. Some people complain about one, some people complain about the other. Not many that's complaining about both.
