Hey now, no need to waste precious coal when we've got plenty of homeless and poor people laying around! Plenty of CO2 in their wasteful flesh sacks, let's just burn them instead :V

Just think of how much better the unemployment rate would be if we cooked everyone that stayed unemployed for more than a month~

Yeah... I mean, according to the article, the largest single cost was the antivenom at 83k, which... if the rest of the article is correct, probably cost the hospital itself 82,800 (36 vials, ~2.3k per, which... I would probably not say is too terribly out of line? The stuff's not exactly trivial to collect, iirc, and doesn't have the largest demand in the world.), which, uh. Would have been less than a percent of markup on the part of the hospital, for the antivenom costs. Now, how much the anitvenom producers are marking things up is a different question, but that part doesn't really strike me as that out of line on the part of the hospital(s).

The rest of the bill was probably excessive, though. I'm not quite sure how five days in-patient totals up to ~70k. I know it does, pretty regularly, but m'not sure how.

Trump isn't, but the colony of tiny martians that control him via their camouflaged hair-ship are. Best crew the MSS "Toupee" has ever seen.

I already made homes for everybody. I can't stand to have wooden blocks for my npc houses on my main world.
If you actually build wood blocks for your NPC houses, you're doing better than I do. I may use wood somewhere in there, but it won't be intentional. Low effort NPC homes just use whatever material there's an excess of at the time :V

Sometimes don't even bother to make the tiles match. Several of the homes in my expert word have floors that are part snow, part ice :P

Generally can't even be arsed to make the rooms the same size or whatev'. Just kinda' go in and swing the pick around until there's enough room, backwall it with whatever, and call it a job done. Mighty Multipurpose Monument to Meticulous Meh.

I spent two hours flying around with my big ship and a ton of tiny ships that were basically missiles strapped onto an engine. Oneshotting everything gloriously until I met a ship that had apparently 39402 cannons and got within blasting range of me :(
... actually that many cannons, or...?

Because from what I remember of that tech demo thing they released a while back, if they'd upped the block limits since that... could be an accurate count.

Sourceforge is down for maintenance. And I wanted to play IVAN and catch leprosy.

RIP IVAN it's still down.
... if folks want to play it, I've got the 050 windows version gathering dust in my roguelike folders, which I think was the most recent of the main developer's, before they stopped working on it. Not quite the newer stuff fans worked on, but it's there. Can prooobably manage a download link if someone's desperate. Just PM me or somethin'.

*mumbles quietly about opera*

Though every time I've tried using chrome it was kinda' miserable. Either stuff buggered up, the aesthetics annoyed me, or it did something irritating. I'd honestly rather use IE than chrome :V

Actually use opera and firefox -- the former for general browsing, the latter for flash stuff and occasionally websites I need to use that needs plug-ins to work. Opera's flash et al functionality works just fine, but I don't like turning on plug-ins on my general use browser.

I'm feeling impish, and overt mention would probably violate the forum ToS, so I won't tell you.

I will, however, give you a hint: I've mentioned a different work by the same writer in the mildly distant past, with a fairly similar degree of obliqueness.

Well, it's kinda' unused, so it's not really either. The root's latin/french, though, so unless the furry fanfiction sonli's referring to has traveled back in time, it didn't come from that. That said, you do see a similar word get used occasionally, and indeed in smut -- tumescent, which as one might imagine looking at it shares an origin, and actually carries a connotation of swelling due to arousal. Borrowed with a degree of regularity by amateur writers who have decided to fellate a thesaurus instead of learn to write, and occasionally other people.

If you're a non-native speaker and using tumefy in pretty much any context, though, including veterinary science or whatev', you've almost certainly screwed up and need to rethink your word choice. Just use the word swollen -- it basically means the exact same thing, and is actually used in conversation.

I hate mobile browsers.
Have you tried Opera, yet? At least on the kindle, I've been finding it surprisingly painless. Most irritating bit so far is that flash videos auto-fullscreen and don't respect the rotation lock. I haven't really been paying attention to performance and whatnot, though.

No, no. "Harry Potter and the Unbuggerable Hedgehog." Let's get some crossover in this mess.

Though yeah, it wouldn't be Sonic. Maybe Mecha-Sonic. Don't recall much of the newer stuff messing with it.

The likelihood and nature of player 3+ joining the battle?

... not that that really makes that much of a difference, generally, but it's an answer.

Praise Zeus, Buddallah, and Satan! Going to still be a bit, and there's yet no telling if what's replacing it will actually improve things, but gods fuck would it be good news that Bush's embuggering of the US education system has finally been fornicated off into oblivion. Assuming the new system doesn't end up worse, there's going to be a lot of happier teachers out there in the relatively near future. Probably happier students, too.
