Also, the warrant involved in the raid is now apparently public. Bit of a problem with them since Brietbart released unredacted versions that has the names of the agents involved on them, so... yeah. Try to find the scrubbed versions if you go looking, probably.

... but anyway, going by those someone (that someone being trump) is now looking down the potentially more literal that not barrel of multiple Espionage Act charges (which people have been executed for before; not likely with trump, but the potential penalties for that one very much go all the way). What happens next is going to be a hell of a thing, one way or another.

E: Oh, and for the curious that haven't noticed, this particular case is one of those where presidential declassification power is actually limited -- trump couldn't have unilaterally declassified any information that involved nuclear technology. If he had those without congressional approval, he's just kinda' fucked with no legal recourse.

He's either already signed it, or will in short order, one of the two. Seen news say he's pretty cheerful about it, one way or another.

... in other news, trump's apparently been tweeting on the fash twitter thing that classified documents related to nuclear secrets were planted by FBI in the raid, which is... yup. I guess that confirms at least part of the raid was, indeed, due to trump fucking around with classified nuclear intel. Now we get to see what he finds out, I guess.

It could also be the friskier variant of bear, but that should probably wait until after the plague's run it's course.

It could just be a really small rod *waggles eyebrows*

I wonder if there are any estimates for the insect content in a cup of coffee or tea.
Depending on the country and its regulation infrastructure, probably! Some places are both required to and actually do track that kind of information, so some office or another has the applicable data to be able to figure that one out.

Dunno about coffee, but the numbers on canned goods stateside are pretty easy to find, I think, or were at some point. The amount is definitely non-zero :P

Apparently the breaching of confidential documents is only a crime when Donald does it?
It's probably worth noting, but what trump did in regards to classified documents (i.e. deliberately fucked off with actual physical copies of highly sensitive classified information, didn't return them, lied about it to federal officials after he was no longer president, etc.; as others have noted, there is zero goddamn similarity to the email horseshit), only necessarily became a federal felony under his own fucking administration. The law folks have noted as being the one most likely to put him in prison based on what we're publicly aware of, is one he signed into law.

So... yeah. Armed attack on a FBI field office, appears to have been a right-wing loon retaliating for the raid. No news I've noticed of other casualties, but last update I saw was report of the attacker (perhaps unsurprisingly) confirmed dead.

Guess we get to see if things escalate further.

It... it really doesn't. It just implies they write. Consistently, inconsistently, well, poorly, published, not, all irrelevant. The writer writes.

So which of the three were the founding fathers?
All three were represented, iirc. Memory might be borking up, but I seem to recall that on top of everything else, it was also partially so folks in the colonies would be more free to pursue genocide of the native populations.

I mean, yes. Discussion forums like this are special in the environments they support.

I'd bet the 1 lira I found in the couch that if this forum had a like/dislike system, it would be long since dead.
I'unno, spacebattles has been around since at least '01 and is going plenty strong, even after having a few splinter forums pop up (one of which, SV, is also doing pretty okay, the rest I'm aware of have... issues), though it doesn't have a dislike system, just a small selection of reaction things.

I don't think it's necessarily a like/dislike system that's a problem, just how it's implemented and allowed to be used. Moderation (from admin, or via the members) does a lot more to maintain communities than any single aspect of the design.

... with possible exception of character limits ala twitter. I think that's just the overt and inevitable death knell of discussion, if not activity, in just about every formulation you could conceive, ha.

Yeah, more or less. The work itself is fine so long as folks are working with me instead of at crossways, and the last director was even damn good at that -- the issue that's really kicked this mess off is one I've encountered multiple times before while working with the last one, and we had good practices in place to address it.

... I'd say I'm pretty decent at it, too (though my department coworkers have been great, as well), been managing to tread water on a full time position working 15 or less hours a week, having been hired with no previous experience and only indirectly applicable education, while trying to take care of elderly family more or less at the same time (we've got a solid bit of help in the last year or so, but we didn't for most of the time I've been working there), fairly steadily even managing to chip away at the stuff that's not time sensitive.

When I was first hired, there were boxes in our office stacked taller than me, and the storage closet was even more full, the point you literally couldn't see the back wall and there was stuff on the top of the shelves nearly touching the ceiling. Actual no joke decades of stored materials that hadn't been dealt with.

By the time the new boss started messing with stuff, it was cut down to the point one or two people could substantively mess with things on a day the cataloging folks weren't there for whatever reason, instead of that being a literally weeks to months long project (I know it's that long because it took me months to do mostly alone, during the periods I didn't have other stuff to do, heh). I've by and large enjoyed the work I've done, to the extent actual work can be enjoyed.

But between the situation with my grandparents getting worse, my health getting worse, and the new boss doing what they're doing, it's just... somethin' gotta' give before it's my heart, y'know? Least that's the conclusion I've come to.

probably anxiety induced insomnia primarily due to the mess going on at work, feel pretty damn miserable right now, spent 8-9 hours mostly staring at the back of my eye lids

... flip side of it, I think it's completely solidified my intent to quit. Like, I was planning on seeing if what was going on was the start of a pattern, just as a way of making sure I'm interpreting things correctly, but now, just... no. I could deal with being pretty swamped at work, but with all the other shit going on, I can't deal with a hostile administrator on top of it -- and it's looking increasingly like that's what I'm dealing with. If this job's going to cause reactions like this, it's not worth it anymore.

If I don't get some stress out of my life soon I think it's going to very literally kill me, and the job is the only hanging fruit available at all :-\

couscous would appear to be a meal/method of food prep -- it's traditionally made from durum wheat, but other stuff can be used as well

Boss's words were that they had worked in a public school for years and every word of the summary was correct, heh. Impressive how two people who'd never spent a day teaching in a public school managed that one, I guess.

Probably going to be handing in my two weeks notice in the next day or three. Found out today the new boss considers this to be truthful and accurate material, and not far right propaganda by a right-wing conspiracy theorist and a further right wing religious school grifter. Ordered me to get it on our shelves, unchallenged, no material on differing viewpoints, nothing. It's arguably against our library's previous collection development policies, and 100% against our previous practices before they were hired -- our last director wouldn't touch shit that biased with a ten foot pole, and especially not without material from differing positions on the subject.

It's also pretty damn strongly against my personal and professional ethics and inclinations. I got no interest whatsoever in helping to turn a public library into a far right propaganda outlet. I ain't got the energy to fight it with everything else going on, but I damn sure don't have to be the one to help.

So... yeah. Kinda' sucks. I liked most of my coworkers pretty well, the actual work was something I could handle and enjoyable enough in its own right, but just. Nah. Fuck that noise, y'know?
