... Nixon actually had a fair amount going for him, iirc. FJ likes to speak on the subject occasionally, I do believe. Definite problems, but it wasn't a unilateral thing. Bush Jr., on the other hand... I legit can't really remember much good that one sat through. Fucking the education system, the wars, buggering the economy, probably other stuff I'm forgetting... critter just kinda' watched everything go to the pits, more or less. Reagan I can't really remember much about at the moment beyond apparently heralding the GOP's decent towards insanity.

... I'd kinda' count this latest bush, really. Dude presided over a lot of what were pretty objectively screwups. Before that... I can't really remember much before bush senior, so I couldn't really say.

A rich black person is likelier to have friends or relatives who are black and poor than a rich white person, for example - cultural osmosis happens a fair bit easier in that sort of context.
... so if the person in question is white, but manages the same degree of osmosis (or is black, and doesn't), then...?

Likelihood isn't certainty, and there's definitely non-black folks that have enough exposure to their particular plights to be able to understand and empathize to the same degree as a particularly trod upon black person (and, of course, black folks that have basically no connection to the disadvantaged portions of the demographic in question).

I mean, it sorta' seems like you're saying nuance is fun, and then saying there's a minimum level you require before nuance gets to kick in. Which... trends or generalities are nice for talking about trends or generalities, but they're pretty damned useless when talking about a person. Might not apply to the original situation being talked about (though the fact that the person in question actually managed to run the apparent ruse as long as they did says things), but still.

Nah, there was an eight month one right in the '90-'91 region, pretty much right smack in the middle of bush senior's term.

... on the other hand, I am now morbidly curious how they would handle gratuitous glowing nudity form Terra.

Though it looks like dissidia already did that. Hrm. And are apparently coming out with a higher resolution one fairly soon. Neat(?).

Now I know, anyway.

A FF6 remake honestly sounds like a pocket nightmare, to me. They... they just need to leave anything before 7 alone, imo. The DS stuff was bad enough.

... wouldn't most of the high up muckity mucks in the imperium be up to their ears in suffering, or at least able to without much trouble?

14199
... would they be, though? Didn't you folks just say the critters can body swap? Add enough biotech knowledge to presumably skinshift, too, and I rather imagine passing for a baseline human and then getting brought in would be... pretty trivial.

And... honestly, I could sorta' see a DE playing a long game like that. Replace one of the high lords or somethin', spend decades subtly screwing with the bureaucracy on an empire wide scale to bring about suffering and whatnot (to say nothing about what happened behind closed doors). Then there's the great reveal at the end of it and it turns out half the high thingjubbies are also DE, a quarter 'nid infiltrators, and the rest a combination of eldar playing the same game as the DE, tau infiltrators, and one or two ork kommandos. Mech-bros would be just kinda' sitting there wtfing. It'd be beautiful. Not a single human among the lot.

More seriously, you could consider frying them. Fried green tomatoes are well loved, and I guess it doesn't make much of a difference if they're red? Don't actually know, don't eat much in the way of tomato.

No clue how to cook fried tomatoes, though. Google probably knows, ha.

I got Avernum II the Pit, I think, after reading about how deep it was....

I made it about 20 minutes before deciding that it was either a) way too old for me now or b) being talked up as being way better than it actually was.
Could be both, though that would have been the first one, not II, probably -- the second one didn't come out until earlier this year. They're not the most incredibly deep pieces of game design, mechanically (though they do alright -- what I'd call about mid-tier in complexity and whatnot), and the story is solid but not mind-blowing or anything. Most of spiderweb's stuff is solid but not top-tier. Something you turn to after you've done the bigger names in the isometric RPG business.

The geneforge stuff is arguably more developed in regards to writing... greater attempts at ethical choices and whatnot, generally a twistier world. The avernum/exile stuff is mostly pretty straightforward adventure romps, set in a fairly interesting setting. They're nice stuff. Not amazing, but nice.

What could go wrong?
God Emperor of Mankind in skintight leather straps, a posing pouch, and nothing else, that's what.

Which. I'unno, maybe an improvement?

I'd... personally, actually disagree that this remake isn't worth it. The UI, quality of life, etc., changes between the originals and these latest remakes are immense. I actually have the original exile/avernum stuff, and at this point they're bloody close to unplayable -- things are so clunky, especially in comparison, that you just about spend more time wrestling with the controls and whatnot that you do playing (which is why I never actually got very far into them, compared to Escape from the Pit, which I've almost completely finished). These latest ones, on the other hand, are massively more smooth and significantly less painful to play. It's a makeover that really is pretty close to worth what the price tag is. I think it'll not be 'till avernum 4 or 5 I'd actually stop recommending these reworks -- it's around that point the UI starts maturing enough the difference really isn't that significant, imo. But the first few... definitely. The difference is like night and day.

Definitely an accurate statement that it'd probably be a better idea to just get the lot of 'em, though. The later geneforge and avernum stuff is almost as playable as these latest work overs.

... seriously though, could y'all take your hang-ups over a minor internet figure somewhere else? Please? This really ain't the thread for it.
