... so what were the measurements, anyway? What's NC's competitive(?) edge?

... current train of discussion is honestly distasteful enough without bringing that nonsense into it. Let's not?

If they have LAN support then Hamachi (or any similar VPN software) ought to work.  Though finding matches is up to you, of course.
Checking it, gameranger has like 50 something plus varying C&C games going right now. The gamespy thing seems to be a trivial issue. That said, if you're after the original or RA 1 for multiplayer, try that free thing that's kicking around somewhere or another. It's pretty solid, when I checked it out earlier this year.

It would be hella' interesting to find out most of the way through a campaign the character you're incredibly dependent on and absolutely need to achieve the campaign's goals, has in fact been abducting children and sending them off to be eaten by a cannibal tribe the whole time. Bonus points if mr. homophagus was the most affable and charitable character of the lot of them, and otherwise an outstanding paragon of all that is good and righteous. Except for the baby eating.

It's always something, I guess.

How could I sleep at night with the inanimate leering gazes of tens or hundreds of smiling animu grills staring into my soul from every direction?
It's not the eyes that point towards your bed, that's how.
Stereotypes have basis in reality. Otherwise they don't become stereotypes.
My 2 AM mind feels the burning need to carefully remind people that sometimes (more often than reasonable, at times) that basis is someone's lies. PSA complete, out the window, through the door, off the balcony frumple goes.

If Batman is an effective template, the answer is significant amounts of "hero" induced brain damage. It starts as a little petty crime, and then you have your skull spiked into pavement and things just kinda' go from there. Eventually following the guy that's murdering people left and right for trivial mistakes seems like a good idea. Also your best friend is an invisible six limbed ostrich and you probably fornicate with brick walls in your off time. Cranial swelling is a hell of a drug.

I think the worldbuilding answer is usually "something offscreen". You generally don't see payday, or when the big bad captures a mook's family, or whathaveyou, on screen. Maybe there are actually crippling societal issues that the Big Bad is doing something about (and/or taking advantage of), but the story doesn't bother to touch on it. The list just kinda' goes on.

If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it hasn't been updated in a while, though, right? Faintly remember that unfortunate feeling you get when you read something nice and see it's incomplete and has a last updated date a year or so past.

Honestly, I can only assume altitude or something has an effect, too. I've literally never thought about the rice more than following the directions on the bag it comes in, and burnt it all of once in my lifetime, when I was horribly sick. And it pretty much always just comes out fine.

Basically, I'm the absolute worst person to ask about rice preperation, because all I can say is "Follow the zoggin' directions", which is also what I say to 90% of the cooking inquiries I get :-\

Uh... yeah, as per PoH. I just follow the directions on the bag, which is almost always a 2:1 ratio on the water:rice, and a varying amount of cooking time depending on the type of rice (white tends to be about 15, brown is like 40-45, other stuff I don't cook enough to recall off the top of my head). Never really have problems with excess water. Definitely stir a time or two during the simmering phase, maybe let it sit a little while after cooking.

I think the time or two I did use a bit too much water I just shoved some instant mashed potatoes into it. Thickens, and I like what it does to the texture. Or cheese, which does the same thing and wonders to the taste. or both

E: The other option is to double down and make soup from it if the water's excessive. Throw in a bowl of ramen or something. Done that before, too.

Once you're on the train, there's no getting off unless the thread gets locked or deleted.

Or you make a new account, I guess. Fairly sure it doesn't follow you that far, though it would be the most amazing of things if it did.

No real need for the second have. Think it could be had, instead, though.

No need to waste a perfectly good game cartridge and/or CD on that, anyway. Or even a perfectly bad one.

Mm... I actually noticed GOG doing something similar, a day or two ago. Had the AI War bundle for sale, but not the base game and you apparently couldn't buy the individual DLCs, just the lot in bulk. That's a really common sales tactic, though. Roughly the same dealio as having a 2 for 1 discount type thing. Individual items being 2 bucks, but two at once selling for 3.50 or somethin'. That sort of stuff.

Breakfast riiiiiice. Sorta'. Cup of white rice, bit of beef bullion, two eggs, bit of cheese, part of the beef from stirfry someone else was making, bit of black pepper. It's been a while since I've done egg'd rice, and my breakfast rice usually uses bacon (and sometimes mac & cheese) instead of beef, but whatev'. It was delicious ;_;

I just want to state for the record adding eggs to rice is amazingly good for how little effort it is. You beat the eggs into that fine, omelet-cooking-like slurry, and then the last three or four minutes of the rice cooking you just stir the stuff in. Eggs get cooked and mixed with the rice to more or less perfection. It's wonderful, and basically zero effort.

Well, waiting for them to go away is like throwing rocks at them. Invisible time rocks. That you don't actually throw. They just kind of float towards them, slowly impacting and pushing their will to stay away. But other than not being like throwing rocks at all, it's like throwing rocks at them. So good job.
