*shrugs* I just have a straight up gallon jug sitting beside me, generally. Sometimes refilled, sometimes used to brew lemonaid or something after it's empty... like said, casually drink about half one a day, sometimes a bit less, usually no more.

Would absolutely love to be doing something besides subsisting on plastic bottled water, but unfortunately literally every other source I have access to makes me sick :-\

Unfortunately, the person that's been badly under-hydrating doesn't really respond well to that. Drinks most when they've got little bottles and constant access.

As you wish. Catalonia has never been independent or a kingdom, and so has no right of self-determination.
It... doesn't work that way. There's no causal connection between those two statements. Self-determination starts somewhere, after all... prior independence or existence as a separate state is not a prerequisite to self-determination. 'Bout the only necessary condition I can think of for that is the ability to work in concert with the group seeking it. You've got the right to self-determination when you can, well, self-determine. Mostly.

I mean, I know the chances of that getting through to you are nil, but someone should probably say it just so people don't think that's actually a rational statement.

Yeeaahh... it's frankly kinda' hard to actually down two liters of water(/liquid) in a day, especially if you're not pretty active. Been dealing with a week or two trying to get a family member to up their liquid intake -- they were clinically dehydrated, and it turned out they were drinking something like 30-32 oz/day on the upper end. A great deal of concentrated effort and constantly shoving full water bottles into their hand has gotten that up to about half the recommend intake, but it's... not easy getting someone who hasn't been drinking right to get back up on the level they need to be.

Without actively making myself drink, I usually manage about half a gallon a day, which is... still under the recommend intake. 2 liters is a bit over half a gallon.

... in any case, the regular-use adage has been 8 by 8 -- eight eight-ounce glasses of water a day, which is actually a bit under the AI (by .2 or so liters, if my memory's working -- 8x8oz is 1.9l, the lower AI is 2.1 or thereabouts). So yeah, folks can manage less than 2 liters/day fairly trivially. Technically shouldn't, but they do.

... so apparently the Game of Thrones lost a special effects editor to... a lion. Couple days ago. Killed on a wildlife preserve in africa when some idiot opened a car window. Helluva' way to go.

No clue whatsoever. I'm just watching a playthrough because at this point the trainwreck is thorough and I can't look away ;_;

If I had to describe it, I'd describe it as a JRPG that has no idea what it is, and is attempting an experiment to see just how many quick time events you can put in a game before people stop playing.

... I've actually noticed that in a few other of these longplay things I've been gandering at. It's like someone in the interim years since I've actually owned a console has looked at Legend of Dragoon's battle system and went, "Yeah, I want me some of that."

Instead of properly running screaming towards the hills. Blue Dragon is basically "Charge Bar, the Game."
Why did these people not realize you can just make the damn thing a slider and have all of the mechanical depth with none of the mechanical assholery? Why?

... man, what the hell is up with Blue Dragon's thematic elements. This thing's mood whiplashes like it's going out of gorram style. Mass murder, biowarfare, torture, possible rape, what amounts to human sacrifice, the slow death of dozens (fast death of many dozens more), just this freaking list of what the hell going on and then you've got poo monsters, the art style (which, being fair, seems to be slowly descending into near-horror), toribo, and a cast of main characters which is half brain damaged plucky!idiot and almost all adolescent.

The writing for this game confuses me. It's like someone took your average Dragon Quest style game and tried to paint it with rusty razor blades but couldn't really get them to stick in right.

"But my whole family is frozen. I want to go outside and die with them." <--- Actual line from the game. It's basically hilarious absurdity at this point.

Though baff, if a black woman can play Oda better than anyone else that shows up to audition, she should get to play Oda. If skin color is an issue or whatev', we've got freaking incredible makeup these days. Or CG! We've got mad skillz these days, and getting better.

... nothing suggests anything. There's mist. There's a bridge. No visibility on the other side. Might not even be an other side. After the mist could be a sheer drop into oblivion. No way of telling.

Beyond that, why not? If you have no way of confirming, and it in no way has demonstrable effect on you on this side of the river, why not believe the other side is booze rainbows and unicorn orgies? It makes for a happier bridgebed, probably. Measure of comfort for the unpassed, too. Uncle's with uncomfortable equine frolicking now, and too drunk to care.

... you'd have to clarify the "so to speak" bit, neo, since it's used for them almost exclusively.

And ark, do remember at one point the only actors were men. I have to admit, the morbid curiosity part of me wants to see that come back a little, maybe for stuff like all female-character burlesques. I can't help but thing there would be something delightful about that.

Okay, rephrase to "violently secede". I'd like to think there's a difference of sorts between scotland and ukraine. No active artillery, for one.

I don't think scotland intends to keep getting money of that nature out the UK after they split, either, do they?

E: Basically the concept of more or less open rebellion/occupation and still asking for welfare from the original government is just...

Pfff... They are mad that Ukrainian government dares to not pay pensions and other social benefits to them. They call this "economical genocide"
... wait, seriously? They're actually asking pension moolah and welfare from the country they're trying to secede from? Can... can someone else confirm this is a thing that is happening?

And is that normal for these kind of situations or is it as farcical as it sounds?

*shrugs* Can't be worse than what's on this side, eh wot.

I mean, it can, but it feels better to think otherwise. Add on a component where you (think you) actually have a means of influencing that and you can get a nice bit of fervor going. Especially after the sunk cost fallacy gets rolling.

Mm... reminds me of a conservative/religious talk-show the person I was driving around was listening to (at least until I couldn't stand the crypto-racism anymore and talked them into switching over to classical) who claimed more or less to not be racist, and then spent like half the goddamn segment obliquely talking down "that hip-hop culture" and denigrating Obama and crap. It's just, like. Could you whistle that bell any harder, old white dude?

As a lover of Dom4, what does CoE bring to the table that Dom isn't already doing?
It actually does some fairly interesting things mechanic wise that Dom basically can't due to the difference in scale and pacing. Leader/race choice can have pretty radical effects (compared to Dominions, anyway) on playstyle and whatnot, from what I've seen, just as an example. It's faster, slimmer, and still inventive enough to have some interesting bits and bobs. Only one I've actually played was whichever one they've spat out free, I think, but still.

They're somewhat similar but pretty distinct games with their own particular virtues. Don't really occupy the same niche, just sorta' adjacent ones.

Main reason I wasn't really hyped about the earlier CoEs is the battle system was kinda'... meh isn't quite the right word, but not to my taste. This one looks a lot sexier.

Anyone has any suggestions for a decent show?  I don't mind 'weird' and alternative (maybe), but I am a fan of more serious ones with imperfect heroes.
We have a gigantic thread full of suggestions :V
