Spreadsheet is love. Spreadsheet is life.

I just want to state for the record I have nothing but respect and pity for anyone who did financial bookwork before the advent of the digital spreadsheet, as well as those still today that are unable to avail themselves of such. Their lives were/are a dim, time consuming, error-prone existence.

... that combat picture is intriguing enough to me I might actually, finally, pick up one of the CoE games.

How to have non americans spinning around themselves for hours: Utter the word "soccer".

Seriously though, soccer is a much better word than football for soccer. It continues the proud tradition of sports being named something that is only tangentially (at best) related to the sport itself. We also need to fix the names of base, basket, and volley ball. Then everything can be like golf, tennis, rugby, cricket, etc., and all things will be consistent. American football already fits into the appropriate paradigm by having very little to do with feet connecting to balls, but FIFA-style football is an egregious violation of the norm by actually being vaguely descriptive. It is an abomination that must be brought in line.

Hey now, credit where it's due -- a good waltz is almost a tango, and a good tango can be about as close to sex on the dance floor as you can get without actively starting to grind. Critters back then knew what was up. It seems silly to us nowadays, but nowadays most folks probably wouldn't know a waltz if it waltzed up to them and started actively molesting them.

It's worth noting, just for the record and the poor uninformed, that a part of what Arc just posted is a complete lie. I won't say what part, though. Some men are wonderful in spandex.

Still haven't gotten around to watching any of madoka myself (Though I have played this fairly interesting fan game), but reviews for it in general are significantly positive. It's pretty good at what it sets out to do.

Well this is the most terrifying thing I've seen today. It's like the demented offspring of a mammoth, a Predator, and a serial rapist. Guess it's worth noting the link's to an hour and change long video -- important bit's at 13:12, if the link itself doesn't work right.

Spoiler: profile shot (click to show/hide)

I know I should laugh, but I don't know what sort of laugh it should be.

Across the nation, they tried 70 times to get contraband material, apparently including weapons and explosives, through airport screening measures. Over half a billion dollars have been invested into the screening measures in question.

They were caught thrice.

... it's really hard not to read that as moodiesbum and wonder exactly whether or not you've added another layer to the sheep joke or not.

Ehehehe, yeah, MC stuff was always fun. I still fondly remember the test I took in a dual-enrolled class -- college level american history, of all things -- where I had missed like the entire week beforehand, had no idea what particular subject class was on, nor any outside-school exposure to it, came back on a test day and ended up scoring as something like one of the top five or so of a 25-30-something person class. Had no bloody clue what the answers actually were, coming in to the test. Didn't matter.

Now mind you, it's very possible to design a multiple-choice test that actually tests retention and knowledge. It's just that, well. People generally don't, and when they do the incredible stink that gets roused by students and parents is just almost physically palpable. Being fair to them, a well designed MC test is generally absolute hell for any student that has anxiety issues and whatnot when it comes to test taking.

teachers figured out that their continued funding/employment rested overwhelmingly on the scores they produced.
Not just that, actually. The students often end up significantly bettered by being taught to the test, too, from what I've seen. Particularly those that have greater trouble with taking tests -- the ones that might know the material, but just can't get it out on test day. There's definite detriments, and it certainly shouldn't be done in the place of actual teaching, but making sure the student is capable of performing well for evaluation purposes, even if they're less proficient in other areas, does have its benefits (including a great deal of stress reduction, oft times). It's particularly true for those students that frankly don't need or want the education itself, but do need the diploma for employment purposes.

And remember that if they don't walk out in tears, you've failed your job as an administrator. Just... aim for happy tears.

I'd rather not actually spell out racist slurs on the forum :V

It should be pretty easy to figure out, though. Just stick what you'd imagine likely to be stuck in place of jury.

E: Though that doesn't stop RK. Sure, heh.

... you're just now figuring this out? Poh, these things are often explicitly called romcoms.

14338
So traditional it's got racist-slur equivalents, at least in my area.

I, for one, welcome our new Welsh overlords.
I cannot comprehend what a fourfold increase in sheep jokes across the nation would do to the Isles. I suspect absolute calamity.
Everybody gets a sheep. No exceptions. That's the new immigration policy. You can only get in if you bring a sheep. The entrance exam is to bugger it, after which you're welcome with open wooly arms.

E: Though, thinking on it, that would probably actually cause a intake rate along the lines folks like UKIP would prefer, wouldn't it? Interesting thought. Population management through sheep molestation, the newest trend in social engineering!

... but yeah, the reason folks are raising a kerfluffle about the fifa thing is mostly because, y'know, millions upon millions of dollars worth of corruption. Actually caught for once! Iirc the low-end figure is around 150 million USD-equivalent monies acquired by doing illegal shit. It's kind of a notable chunk of dosh. That plus it being soccer and hey, news.
