How can this even?
We're all wizards. There's your answer.

And yeah, shippers have been shipped, as have shipping containers, and the various other permutations involved. Shipping is a lot like Rule 34 (it also overlaps with R34 fairly often). It probably exists, and if it doesn't, it will. The miracle of the written word is that it can turn colliding crates into salacious smut, and the miracle of the human mind is that many people out there find doing so to be intensely amusing.

It's a good time to be a wizard, trading tales of inanimate debauchery across the aetheric lines we've wrapped around this planet. We just need to hurry up and get off said planet, so we can wrap our swathing of sin across the entire galaxy.

Re: Monsters also has a fair chunk of the LN translated. I can't in good conscious recommend it -- its sudden interjection of tentacle-assisted harem fucking isn't really appropriate for B12 discussion -- but it was oddly enjoyable. The manga's indeed further along at the moment, though, last I checked. Fun to read it from both perspectives.

You can see broadly similar stuff (though generally with less surprise tentacoo) via japtem's translations (which actually is the group that trans'd part of the Re:Monster LN), the Ark LN project (currently primarily carried forward by Ark Machine Translations), and a few one-off projects. Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, Grimgal (early in the translation, but I'd fairly heartily recommend it.), stuff like that.

You... you do know the entire thing's premise is "Console Wars, the Anime" (/"the Game"), right? I mean. It's going to meme. The entire thing is based off what amounts to internet memes. Explicitly.

Mushmouthed idiot may be getting paid, that's why. Also probably easier these days to upload to youtube than bother with a website, honestly. Or at least folks are more comfortable with it or somethin'.

More seriously, a lot of people seem to prefer video tutorials and whatnot. Consequence of youtube and junk, maybe. Actually seeing it performed can sometimes be a bit more clear than text/picture, too... I've had a couple cases in the past where it worked out like that.

... definitely prefer the picture and text, though. Both is ideal.

... I'd think SG is a lot better at identifying which was which in 'is personal life, yeah? Work and dedication are necessary, but it's luck that's the sufficient component. All the leverage in the world can't do jack without a fulcrum. Which is what SG's noting.

There's unfortunately not actually consequences for hard work and dedication, save more of it (at best.). People just seem to like to think there were. Just world nonsense and whatnot, I guess...

Met more people than I'd like to count who have spent their entire life working their arse off for... basically nothing. Folks whose "consequence" was to die in poverty for nothing they had control over, 'cause they just never caught the proverbial break. S'always kinda' frustrating to hear people functionally say, "Well, if only you had worked harder things would have worked out." World doesn't actually work that way, unfortunately.

W... why does the opening sequence to xenosaga look like someone just woke up a necron tombworld?

An example suited for you: people may have urges to pee anywhere, but that doesn't make peeing in public not creepy.
... isn't that actually fairly normal in some places?

... can't say I've ever experienced that, m'self. When it's that hot, I'm usually too busy trying to die to notice other people. Ruddy heat stroke nonsense :-\

Most places with active volcanoes are actually more bearable, from what I've seen. They're either further north or have a good sea breeze going. Some places in the south have the latter, but it's never as good as a proper island or whathaveyou.

Other Games / Re: Modern game controllers and old games

Yeah, I had looked a little earlier and it sounded like the diagonal thing is actually a problem somewhat specific to the 360 controller. Almost a known issue.

I've been using this for a few months now, and outside of some oddities with the sticks (and occasionally needing to use joytokey or somethin') it's been basically sublime and very good for older games (though it does look like some folks have issue with inconsistent quality, so YMMV and all that). And cheap, as controllers in my region go. No clue if they're available in your area, though.

So I'd probably recommend just grabbing a cheapo one.

*checks*

Yes. Or at least something that looked much like it. 'Bout as bad as any I've had. Cold tea in general just doesn't agree with my taste buds, and southern sweet tea's close to the worst of it (that I've tasted, anyway).

As another southerner, I feel the need to also inform you that the rest of these people are insane -- the heat has melted their higher cognitive functions -- and sweet tea tastes of arse.

More seriously, people seem to like it for some reason. I've yet to taste a cold tea that didn't just taste nasty to me, though. And I've tasted basically every southern variation in existence that wasn't also alcoholic.* Hot ones are alright. Lukewarm or below, it's just... too much like coffee, I guess. Taste wise. Freaking aftertaste from hell.

More power to the people that can stomach it, though. Someone's gotta' finance the price gouging bastards that sell the stuff.

*Sometimes it is too hot for choice to come into the equation. Cold, wet. Now.

... so basically you want to see an anime where the main character uses vancian style magic. Spells slots!

That said, there's several (shonen, usually) manga out there that have similar conceits. Power that will kill(/corrupt/drive insane/etc.) you if overused is almost standard, really. Freaking Naruto did that, albeit not as a central focus. Other stuff manages it as a central focus -- Madoka, ferex, if somewhat more drawn out. Eva used power measured in minutes (after the power cord got cut) regularly. There's a decent sized chunk of more obscure stuff I'm forgetting the names of. Edgier stuff (or at least stuff that's trying to be edgy) seems to enjoy using the concept. Aiki (warning if you actually look for that one, it's thoroughly NSFW -- written/drawn by a critter probably better known for porn, and it shows. There's many amazing faces, though.) works with the concept via a more-or-less crippled protagonist/antagonist.

It's trivial compared to listening to friends, family, or otherwise unavoidable people complain about your ass ugly paved yard.

Also some of us have pets, and a grass lawn is... useful. For that.
