Quote from: article
“The day wasn’t all about the money,” Lembo said Tuesday, answering those who called the fete “wasteful”  and “vulgar.”
"Just 99% about the money. 1% about other things."

What kind of nightmare hellscape did that kid create to deserve a 200+ person birthday party inflicted upon them, anyway? Do these parents hate the child, or are they just unintentionally cruel?

Few I saw on campus never ground on anything that I saw, personally. Just used 'em to get around. It was mildly envy inducing to see them coast around in 90+ degree weather instead of walking.

They weren't nearly as interesting as the dude that got around campus on the unicycle, though. That guy was a'ight.

...

Also, why are we having this conversation in the sales thread?

There's no rule against having duplicate sigs, though...

Just... just to check, but. You don't know the name of what you've been watching/talking about?

Wouldn't... wouldn't it be difficult to do a review if you don't know the title?

I mean. I guess it's not necessary?

but it would help

Well, this is interesting. Swiss have jacked a truckload of high up sports muckity-mucks and are (in the process of?) throwing them to the US to get hit with a book (and apparently some of the euro countries are getting in on the game, too). Apparently FIFA is incredibly corrupt and finally getting caught at it? I don't pay even the most remote of attention to sports, so I had no idea at all (though surprised, I am not), but here it is. And it seems like there's going to be a lot of money involved in the shenanigans related to this.

Also damn, sq. That guy looks like a cannibal toad. Is he gonna' eats jarjar?

I'd complain if the Humble Bundle was purely commercial, but partnering with possibly the biggest name in the industry is going to rake in a lot of money for charity so this is still pretty cool.
And for what it's worth, the games being offered are still mostly indie produced, near as I can tell. I'd rate th'bundle as less of a not!humble thing than, say, one of the EA or squeenix bundles or whatev'. They're pimping nintendo, but at least they're catching some of the little dogs in the process (along with the charity, of course) as opposed to just doing a big dog.

Also cheers, burimon~

Zog if I know. I haven't kept up with it past somewhere around the start of the timeskip, beyond fanfic osmosis. Vaguely remember some kind of magazine/manga picture of N having like three kids, though? Pretty sure it was in this thread somewhere, as I got fed up with kishi looong before the series "ended" and wouldn't have noticed if someone hadn't brought it up.

Probably roughly equivalent to blue dog democrats. Which kinda' doesn't sound too far off, really. Tories're still further left than republicans, by and large. Just... seemingly trying to dig their way into the same foxhole.

Probably talking about Pataki, which is two parts ignorance and one part mispronunciation from being Takei. Takei's unfortunately both too old and probably too smart to run for president. I'd be pretty willing to toss the guy a vote, though.

I'd generally say that if you're that conflicted about it, it's probably best to wait a while, maybe check out a few youtube gameplay vids, stuff like that. Or just pass on it entirely.

Google offered this within two seconds of googling. Youtube link, all the first page website ones were sketchy as hell. Also I haven't looked at it, because youtube and effort required to unmute computer, etc., etc., etc.

E:Few seconds more and found a transcript, straight from the whitehouse. The full bit is
Quote from: Obama!
Unfortunately, you’ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that’s at the root of all our problems; some of these same voices also doing their best to gum up the works.  They’ll warn that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner.  You should reject these voices.  Because what they suggest is that our brave and creative and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can’t be trusted.

Context being the (mostly) right wing crazies that see government as absolutely nothing but a vehicle of tyranny and harp about it constantly. Basically saying that you shouldn't listen to people who's connection with reality is tenuous at best, and maybe listen to people who actually have something of a fully nuanced view of the situation.

Cameron's context is... well, it's exactly what it looks like. There's no ostensibly faintly reasonable spin, there.

When you've spent something like 2/3rds of your life with the air functionally trying to kill you, and repeatedly coming close to succeeding, your wording gets frisky.

... I'm not sure if that's fair to Doom, alway. Doom's actually a faintly competent tyrant, innit he? Comparing him to cameron is just... unkind. To Victor.

I'd say me too, but it's been more like two pauses between the torrential downpours and now the sun's going away, having given up trying to burn away the clouds and decided to go home. Which... thank you, sun. Please stay gone. I know you won't, but I can ask.

As for what the weather is doing, well, here it's doing florida, as usual. Just with rain and almost sane temperatures gentle fingering instead of the steady humidity and flaming air strap-on of Greater Temporal Recursive Reaming, that slams you three times at the same time every second.

I like this better, really. It's interfering with some yard work, but... it's under 70 outside, right now. For late may, in florida? That's like hell freezing over.

It is gasping its final, labored breaths. Like Naruto, or has that actually finished? I remember it being 'near to finishing' over a year ago.
Naruto has "finished" and moved on to the next generation series, yes.
