That game is awesome.  I highly recommend it!
Is pretty alright to watch, and I'd call it overall a darn good game. I've just found it fairly miserable to actually play. Something about the platforming rubs me wrong, which is a serious problem for enjoying a platforming game :V

Is basically an entire game of that. It doesn't count :P

"Attack" tends to imply an isolated nature, though. Even "attacks" points more to a series of discrete, mostly unconnected, events when you're often dealing with a very coherent and directed campaign of action. May be the better term for individual instances, but I'd call it too narrow to really describe the sort of thing we're talking about. Abuse may be closer, but I'd still say that doesn't quite fit. Implies a degree of closeness between actors you don't always have with violence.

Not sure english really has an entirely apt term for it, really. "Violence" is just closer than about any other word we have for distilling the nature of the act in question. Directed and intentional harm, backed by some form of force.

... watching a playthrough (speedrun, I guess) of Treasure Adventure Game.

It's now on the list of one of the relatively few games I've seen that has the player trip massive amounts of balls. Full on acid/shroom trip. Player feeds a giant sentient mushroom a smaller sentient mushroom, big 'shroom chews up the little one in a cannibalistic consumption orgy, breaths multi-colored 'shroom spew all over the player. Screen proceeds to flip out, player proceeds to trip like goddamn. Gets +1 heart!

What the hell.

We fundamentally disagree on what falls under the scope of force, then. Force within and outside the law is no different, t'me, and driving someone into the dirt with money or emotional abuse is straight equivalent in nature to just breaking their legs and shoving their face to the ground. "Conflict" is entirely too tame a word for what's being talked about, and not nearly descriptive enough of the intent or the outcomes.

Has anybody suggested Treasure Adventure Game in this thread? It's not in the list, and I don't think I've ever heard its existence acknowledged anywhere on the internet. Which is a shame, because it's a really fun game.
I've played it a little... never got particularly far, though.

For what it's worth, there's been a couple theads. From a bit back and not exactly much attention either time, but they're there.

For garbage collection to be 5th you'd need 4 figures and... I just don't understand how.
Low training, heavy machinery, heavy weights, toxic waste, even more crazy people than cops deal with (with even less training and equipment), smaller operating teams than most construction workplaces, pretty much constantly on the road (without the stupid-driving suppressant that is a police cruiser). There's just kind of a sundry list. It's not safe work.

... isn't that the one that got banned for being excessively creepy? Think that was mentioned in relation to 'em. Never actually saw the critter in action, though.

Is a soul, iirc. From what I recall, the original interpretation saw no difference between a soul and the flesh. Soul was less some kind of odd immaterial thing than it was simple animating force, back then. Or at least the living part was. Pretty sure that's (one of) the basis(/bases) of physical reincarnation beliefs within the denominations, actually...

It holds the same information, but it's just not the same.
... well, the binding wouldn't be. The book itself would still be the same thing, unless your ratty old one had pages missing or somethin'.

It's not what I'd call a good comparison. Binding doesn't really have a substantiative effect on a book -- one's as good as another, generally, and incidental affectation for a particular binding is more human insanity than anything meaningful. Human body on the other hand has a very substantiative effect on how we store, process, and recall information. You take the information in one body and stick it in another and it's not going to be the same information, because the new container will literally cause the information to change.

Why shouldn't it?

I feel like people give more significance to certain things solely because they're valued by other people.
Annnd... fixed.

Of course people give more significance to things a lot of other people value, for several different reasons. That's not a phenomena unique to religion, agnostics, or unverifiable things.

Contentment is really hard to maintain, even if you've got every material thing you'd need to do so. Human psych just has trouble with sustained action, to all appearances.

Which is honestly really goddamn annoying. Would like it if the bloody chemical cocktail would stop fucking with me when I'm in an objectively and sustainably happy situation, yeah. Can learn to ignore it, but 'tis a ruddy nuisance.
