N... no, you're just someone that baked a lime pie. Which is okay. No here.

Mind you, if you still call it a key lime pie despite not baking it with key limes, we've got a problem.

IO mentions Afro Samurai and doesn't mention that delicious Samuel L. Jackson voice acting. Shame, Ferrousbird. Shame.

Eh, it seems to mostly be because that was the wording already on the books, established who-knows how long ago. It probably originated less as a calculated "fuck you" and more out of ignorance, though its current form being maintained is likely because of spite.

E: Well, the entire bill is constructed out of spite, just not directed specifically at islam. They're just cheerful collateral damage to the hate-gays agenda, in this case.

Only if they're muslim or buddhist or non-religious or somethin'. You'd still be in the "good" if you're willing to see a priest or rabbi to get hitched.

I mean, conceptually they're going to be allowing same-sex marriages outright, since some denominations are okay with it and presumably are either already in-state or will cheerfully show up soon after,* and the constitutional ban on it has either been ruled unconstitutional or will be soon enough.

*If it passes all the way it would probably be a really good time for someone in-state to get ordained by one of the permissive sects and open up a nice church in their living room or somethin'. Pretty easy money, really.

... so, uh, wow. Apparently Oklahoma's house this past tuesday passed a bill (.pdf here, with the particularly relevant bit starting in section 7, near the bottom of page 8.) that intends to completely remove civil marriages from their state. It'll make it so the only people capable of officiating a marriage are clergy of the christian, jewish, or baha'i faiths -- state personnel will be there only to record marriages, and everyone that doesn't want to go down that route either has to take up a common law marriage (which is very much not the same thing) or presumably go out of state.

It's still got to get through their senate, but considering both are republican majority...

Tally another point on the list of "Stay the hell away from Oklahoma", I guess.

Yeah... yeah. You people just hold still for a little bit while I go get that knife and blowtorch. I'll be taking all y'alls tongues. Though I guess I'd need an icepick or something, too, to get to the taste interpreting brainmeats but we can get to that after y've stopped being able to run away.

It'd be nice to be able to eat more things without the tastebuds recoiling and stomach rebelling...

Serg, half the things onion get stuck in has enough salt it in to cause your blood pressure to rise just looking at it.* Don't think salt is the answer.

*And that's despite the fact that salt probably doesn't actually cause high blood pressure :V

Onion is pure magic. It can be used for cooking practically everything you ever want. And it's tasty, too, if you know how to deal with it.
Onion is tasty to someone who finds onions tasty. Which I am not. With how often they show up in basically everything, I've ended up tasting a lot of onion over my lifetime. Each and every one of them was dish-destroyingly terrible. Insofar as I've been able to tell, it's physically impossible to cook an onion or cook with onion in a way that doesn't taste vile to me.

Except those potato chips. They're alright.

... ah.

Well, now you know not to do that again. So long as you don't do it again and the house isn't on fire, you should be alright. After you clean up the mess, anyway.

And mostly agreed, PK. Except for the onion bits. Freaking hate onions. Except occasionally fairly mild onion powder, I guess. For some reason I like sour cream and onion potato chips, but detest both sour cream and onion. Is the taste of culinary death for everything else. And they're put in so many things ;_;

I should never be trusted to cook without supervision.

I was supposed to put the pot full of food into the crock pot. I poured the food out of the pot and into the crock pot.
Put... putting a pot with food in it into a crock pot actually sounds like a rather silly thing to do, t'me? If someone wasn't pretty explicit about needing to do that, I'd be doing the same thing you did. And I've kinda' cooked a wee bit at this point.

Unless you're talking about the pot that normally goes into a crock pot (they're often a two-stage thing for easier cleaning, iirc), in which case I'd be questioning why it wasn't in there to begin with...

Though putting a pot in a pot so you can pot while you pot does kinda' sound like something unsurprising re: your situation, if my memory's working.

Pratchett's final tweets are a thing of beauty though:

Quote
AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER.
11:06 AM - 12 Mar 2015

Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night.
11:07 AM - 12 Mar 2015

The End.
11:07 AM - 12 Mar 2015

Right in the goddamn feels.  :'(
Yeah, that got a tear or three. RIP, P.

The Logan Act, yes. Which... in the ~236 years it's been on the books, there has been one indictment (that happened over two centuries ago.) and zero convictions.

I mean, it's there, and a felony crime, but...

E: It does make them look like people that are attempting to undermine the government's functioning, but, uh. That's more or less been an explicit GOP platform for a while now. Not exactly unusual.
