General Discussion / Re: SCIENCE, the Higgs, and everything else!

Pretty sure trials in monkeys (or maybe apes) with head transplants have been semi successful, in as much as the subject lived for a number of hours before expiry. Not fab, but its a start.
My memory's definitely spotty, but weren't the test subjects put down instead of dying naturally/due to complications/whatever?

Drone strike on wedding does equal a drone strike on a civilian gathering (which would, y'know, include homes, apartment complexes, etc.), where many of those present are unaffiliated in any substantial sense to the target, though. Which is something we've shown a distinct willingness to indulge in.

BELLRI WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!
And suddenly my interest in catching back up to G-Reco has shriveled up like a naked teenager in the cold vacuum of space.

Aren't they both still pretty incomplete? It might be better to wait for development to, well, develop more, before choosing. Beyond that, it looks like there's quite a lot of gameplay videos putzing around youtube for both of 'em, for more comparison.

E: Though looking at some videos for vagante, it does look like, while they look fairly similar, they play very differently. V's considerably slower and more deliberate, to all appearances.

I'll cheerfully note that if Hilary had spent part of her time in office Xanatosing against a do-gooding time traveler, I would be considerably more likely to vote for her, evil ways or not. That's the kind of expertise you don't see in other potential candidates.

*waggles hand* Only a little, in practice, especially by this point. It's certainly more complicated -- being able to more-or-less custom design your units is going to do that, as is the research system -- but it still flows pretty well and controls pretty decently. There's quite a few really nice quality of life options (auto-retreat at low health, ferex). Arguably flows even better for the larger-scale combat, since the existence of commander units and how they work do a decent job on cutting down micromanagement and whatnot. There's a lot of things going for it.

TA would be Total Annihilation, Zanz.

Though note well some of the supplementary material for that series is... more blatant regarding the harem antics. Significantly.

I'd tentative recommend checking out some of the LPs floating around for the games, actually. They're sorta' good for a cringe-y kind of laugh.

Annnnddd... I just had a surprise trip dropped on me with zero prior warning. Fairly good chance I'll be on the road or about to hit it when the games start :-\

May still be able to join in, but it's now looking doubtful. Bleh.

And I'm sure there will be people who try to stretch the wording provided to the loosest possible interpretations.
... the wording there was intentional, wasn't it.

No need for a PS1, silly :P

Though I think technically some of the PSX emulators support netplay? I mean, if we really wanted to play the playstation version of WZ21k, we probably could.

... I wouldn't suggest it, as the fans have improved the PC version a fair amount, but we could.

Presumably because you're interacting with communities that are actually willing to commonly use such terms as "riot drone".

Uh, minor point of order, but valve had basically shit-all to do with DotA's champion roster.

Honestly, considering DotA's development has encompassed something like an entire bloody decade and spent a great deal of that shamelessly stealing ideas from other projects, it's not exactly a surprise it has a fair bit of variation in its skillsets and whatnot. Frankly, it's about the only thing approaching innovation the map has to its name (and is still notably weaker compared some other AoS maps :V).

Here, if you want to read whatever that site had to say on it. I personally haven't exactly been keeping up on WoW related news (I've played the game something like ten minutes, total.), so no clue how trustworthy the source is, but hey, it's there.

Obviously not the only way, but giving the country a deterrent against other ones (like, perhaps, israel) that want to just up and kill them all, liberal elements included, definitely sounds like a means of support t'me.

One of the other articles on that site mentioned that inactive accounts will be (already are? I didn't pay attention to the article's date) able to come back on under the free-play restrictions, which is... apparently no XP or gold gain past level 20 or 10 gold? No clue what that means for inactive accounts that actually had more gold than that -- presumably whatever the token cost is, is going to be higher than whatever limits are already placed on the free accounts.
