It is somewhat enthralling.

Especially how wildly out of character it is.

... don't we have varying conditions that can cause bits (maybe everything?) to start rotting without actually killing someone? I guess one of the more advanced stages of decomposition is the line?

Pictured: 90%* of slash fiction. Reference: Naruto, Harry Potter, <insert mile long dong list of other fandoms>.
I have succinctly summarized your post, ahaha!

*This is, naturally enough, a bullshit statistic. Substitute "significant portion" at your leisure.

It got immensely popular and got its own film for absolutely no reason other then marketing.

Methinks you missed your own statement.

Marketing, of course, has something to do with it, though. Publishers wanna' get the dough.

reads more like a young adult romance slash fanfiction than anything else.
And that is a large portion of why it's popular. Young adult slash fiction is incredibly prolific for a reason. Stuff that reads like it is very likely to do well if it escapes from the clutches of the rabid yaoi writers and into society at large.

E: Though now I'm suddenly curious if anyone's bothered to try to track the internet's slash fiction output. How many words per day are being released online? Hundreds of thousands? Millions? It would be an interesting statistic to follow. It would be really interesting to see what kind of seasonal etc. variance there is, among a bunch of other stuff. Someone needs to write some kind of program that collects that data.

lrn2internet.
There's your problem, yes. Lot of people really can't wrap their heads around reading on a computer or non-published material. That and fanfiction stigmatization. 50 Shades is what happens when your fairly standard shitty lemon fic gets published. Take it off the internet, strip off the fanfiction label, and lo' and behold a style of writing that produces great pulsating heaps of non-published fiction is popular!

It's almost like things people like are things people like when they're framed appropriately >_>

Can't really say why people like 'em, though. Could probably make some WAGs, but eh.

... though really, Xant, you seem to have forgotten that 50 Shades was terrible online erotica. It's a twilight fanfic with the names filed off that managed to get off the internet.

There's not much out there that's better on delivering huge fields of wreckage, though. That's always pretty nice.

On the other hand, I will say I kinda' prefer some of the Spring games for that. Haven't been able to play supcom that much, but the scale actually seems to detract a lil' from that whole huge-bulks-of-metal-slamming-into-each-other feeling. Spring's stuff has similar UI and gameplay, but has a tighter focus that makes that cluttered battlefield of explosions thing a bit more there, y'know? Much like TA did, though that was at least in part due to said wreckage buggering the (already spotty) pathing to hell.

... I'll admit, though, I never really liked the air in the TA lineage games. I'd use the builders extensively and generally the gunships a fair bit, but it was the ground combat that was where it was at. Much more punchy, visceral, etc. Air stuff generally didn't leave wreckage, and that was a shame. Though SupCom was a little better about that, iirc -- dying flying crap crashing into things was more of thing.

I.e. you may immediately construct your giant floating sky phallus, but you may not yet make it glow.

E: Except with torches, I guess. You can probably set your nimbus dong on fire right from the start, which is something!

Echo that. Not knowing what the zog they're saying often significantly improves the experience of listening to vocals. There are many people with wonderful voices singing absolutely awful songs.

Now now, FD. That comment on effectiveness didn't clarify for which team the statement would be true.

I'm sure the teamfight potential of the team without veigar will indeed gain significant effectiveness, compared to the current incarnation.

Mm... well, do remember we had that discussion in relation to kancolle a little bit back that noted that anything that's not a complete and abject demonization of the axis powers is basically the devil to some folks. That a nazi is working with the protagonists and isn't the nazi equivalent of an old-school racist caricature of a jew is a negative thing, to some. Gotta' have dem jackboots like the antisemites need those hooked noses, or somethin' along those lines.

These... korean video game novel things. They get gloriously immoral, apparently.

Main character of the one I'm reading decided to solve the issue of recalcitrant natives by feeding the lot of them highly addictive narcotic berserker cookies. Something along the lines of PCP laced confections. Can't convince untrained non-combatants to armor up and attack rampaging murder plants that used to be their relatives and loved ones? DRUG THE LOT OF THEM, AHAHAHAHAAA

zeus hell and now he's charging them for the fix what the hell, hero

Echo that. Jojo's definitely one of the best bits of anime the industry's produced to date.

It does, indeed, have a good guy cyborg nazi, though.

It's Jojo's Bizarre Adventure for a reason.

Several reasons, really.

Plenty of various gameplay and whatnot videos, at least. It's... almost certainly too pretty for me to play. Totes agree it has a very appealing aesthetic, though. Very lego, it's nice.
