I've never played any of those games it's supposed to be a homage/spiritual successor to, though. Maybe heavy dose of nostalgia is the whole point.
Looking at the other games by the dev, that's likely a fairly strong component to their business plan, yeah. If it weren't for the homage part I never would have touched it, because outside of that basically everything about it is somewhere between meh and active turn off for me.

I'm not going through it very quickly (it's a'ight, but yeah, it doesn't scratch the same itches Ogre Battle did with nearly the degree of satisfaction), and it's definitely not particularly on par with Ogre Battle, mechanics wise, but, well. I will throw money at stuff using that general combat system just about every chance someone will give me, in probably vain hope someone will eventually one-up the OG Ogre Battle. This is one area where I absolutely am going to vote with my wallet until something good happens or I die/become too poor to do it and still eat.

Closest I've been exposed to that sounds like that is Time Break Chronicles. Is on steam.

Jupiter Moons: Mecha is on there, too... neat aesthetic card battler thing. Enough I'll probably grab the bundle.

... but seriously, if I ever actually get into playing PnP or tabletop, I'm going to have access to more rulesets than god. Part of me idly considers starting some kind of "ttrpg a week" thread or somethin'. You get one or two of these bundles and you'll have fodder for something like that that would last decades.

Only seen some video play... and not much at that, because for however pretty the art is, it's damn busy on the world map. I watched a bit of gameplay and bounced right off, couldn't tell what the hell was going on and what was something to pick up or just decoration. Art design was arguably the weakest bit of the game I was seeing, ha.

Good seasoning for grilled porkchop: Parsley/Thyme/Rosmary/Black pepper (i.e. super basic roast seasoning), plus unsweetened applesauce with a pile of cinnamon and a dash of sugar. Mix it all up and then bast over the porkchop, cook as desired.

So it's a friday before a holiday. What's the over/under on something super-shitty getting released end of day because it's a friday, or not getting released because people might have an extra day off to protest?
I think they've already closed the term, actually? SCOTUS is on holiday until october, or something like that.

one grandparent basically broke down for a while today, largely because dementia has fucked their brain just enough they can't tell how miscommunication is causing most of the problems they're having with a child while still leaving them coherent enough to tell something's wrong without being aware of how badly the shit's fucking with their brain

"but i haven't changed" says the person that just gave four different and conflicting accounts of something that happened the day before

just. fuck dementia. so hard.

More than anything, living with folks having this happen to them has convinced me beyond the shadow of a doubt there either is no god, or god is an evil piece of shit. There's no holy scripture in the world that can excuse the existence of this. Whatever led to this world existing was either unthinking or malicious, and there is no third option. No one should have to live with this. No one should have to live with this happening to others. There's no sin great enough to warrant this.

That sounds right, to my understanding. The decision is extremely narrow in a way that sets little precedent.
The precedent the SCOTUS will do this exact same thing to every other regulatory body the conservative majority doesn't like that crosses their desk is pretty damn large, actually. Calling it narrow is myopic; the threat is doing the same damn thing to everything else they encounter going forward, and this court has given every indication that is exactly what they will do.

The message is clear though. Any sweeping changes this country needs has to go through Congress, and the SC is banking on a continuing conservative majority.
It's not even congress; SCOTUS has made it clear with this one that the only one that gets to decide what Congress means is them. Congress can go screw itself, SCOTUS decides what it means now.

The fucked up thing is that this or Roe somehow isn't even the worst decision they might make in the next bit. Next term they're going to decide if state legislatures can shit on their own state constitutions in regards to elections (i.e. what Trump was asking them to do in 2020) -- if they decide yes (damn likely, at this point), that pretty literally means there's just flat out no more US democracy left, because red state fuckers will be able to just do whatever the fuck to their elections without any restraint whatsoever. At that point it's either going to be Fuck the SCOTUS or Fuck the US, with no other options left.

The TAS any% on that one is either sub 10 minutes... or actually 0 or somethin', depending on how you count the stuff that sometimes catches attempts by bots to make accounts. It's quite low, in any case.

... well, good luck. May you and your family avoid death and/or permanent organ damage.

Why would someone want to rob someone knowing they have a gun?

Isn’t that the entire reason people want guns in the first place?
They'll wait for you to leave the house, then burglarize it.

And since no-one in their right mind has the time and money to setup a Fort Knox for their guns, affordable gun lockers won't deter them either. They'll either pick the laughably insecure lock (cf. LockPickingLawyer), cut the locker open on-site, or just steal the whole damn thing and open it elsewhere.

One hour gone from the house and a bit of staking out the place is all that's needed.
Pretty much that, yup. Firearms are easy to lift, easy to sell stateside -- they're prime theft targets*. Firearms stolen from randos are something like 3rd as a source of firearms used/owned illegally, iirc, after stuff bought legally(ish) and ones stolen from family/friends.

*It's actually one of the smaller contributing factors to firearms in the home making you less safe, ha. They increase the likelihood of a home invasion by a bit.

Meanwhile one of my past french teachers hasnt locked his housedoor in 30 years.
Eh, I lock mine out of habit, but it's less to genuinely keep anyone out and more to slow them down. It's largely more important for folks that's fine to be coming in, even, because them not just walking in means we have time to make sure my grandfather isn't streaking again before they come in. It's a kindness to the visitor, really.

Even if this coach is sincere and has religious tolerance, others may not. The underlying risk is the development of "religious custom" that isn't religious, but exclusionary.
Like, don't even a little give them that much credit. Everything I've noticed about that case gives zero indication the coach was sincere (this is actually pretty close to impossible, 'cause the guy claims to be christian and there's extremely blunt scripture on whether or not that sort of public prayer is acceptable behavior) or had any tolerance whatsoever for other religious positions (pointedly, if he did, he would have gone along with the school's other attempts at accommodation that would have easily avoided issues on that front). This was exclusionary from the start, and in a way that was an outright violation of the scripture of the coach's own stated religious affiliation.

It seems like the symptoms are getting milder with each new variant.
I... haven't noticed any reporting on anything even remotely looking like that. Treatments have been improving, but symptomatic severity and overall danger/lethality/etc. has largely seemed to be about the same (while infectiousness increases) with each new variant.

Though, like. Just 100 hours of zapping might actually be an improvement over the current state of things. Assuming it could be sequential, that's just five days or so, which... I'm pretty sure a lot of people would take over a 20 year sentence for shoplifting, or whatever.
