... hopefully the incoming outpouring of contrary vitriol will change their mind, assuming the whole thing isn't someone's idea of a joke?

Making the custom maps P2P would straight kill the last glimmer of interest I had in ever reinstalling DotA >_>

You have any links or something to who's saying that, Umi?

"Show me what you are doing on that! It better not be fucking porn or something."
Is there any other kind of porn?
...what am I saying.  It is the internet, of course there is.
Scenery porn is kinda' amazing and should be viewed by everyone. Bunch of other kinds, too -- violence porn is even a mainstay of modern television. The word's been appropriated into a fairly versatile set of meanings, really.

I don't normally think of God when I think of the stereotypical portrayal of country music, nah.
Methinks you've either listened to too much or too little, then. Reference is usually pretty common in country music, either to church or religious belief/behavior in general.

E: How's it go again? "My dog died, my wife left me, and my tractor's cheating on me, so thank God I'm drunk." Something along those lines.

E2: 'course, it was because of the hootch you entered into relations with farm equipment to begin with, but eh. More songs should start off with a hangover and a john deer giving you doe eyes from underneath the blankets. Just don't ask how it fit under 'em, or what happened to your bed. Or where the eyes came from. Actually, at that point it's probably a good idea to have another drink. Or fifty. Whatever makes it stop.

But there's only six slots to fill, Arc. Enough warmogs is an unobtainable goal.

Why must eye contact be mandatory?
It's not. Eye contact frequency is a strongly cultural thing, at least past the fairly early stages of development.

Shoujo manga is a world all its very own, FD. It's where you turn if you want to see some really goddamn weird stuff played disturbingly straight.

... agreeing with palin is something akin to an ideological kiss of death, pk. Except somehow even less competent than a dead person. Dead people at least stop talking :-\

I guess what my biggest concern overall is, is something to do with something I remember hearing: "As technology advances, morals decline."
You should be happy to know that that statement is complete and utter bullshit, then.

We've got all kinds of crazy crap going on with tech these days. I'm actually a bit worried, especially if RFID chips take off, and work as well as I fear they would. I mean, those things would be like a traveling companion that knows your entire history (once implemented), and posts to Facebook at all hours with or without your consent (clever method to track activity and location).
You mean like huge swathes of the population's phones already do?

There's also mods, obviously enough. Watched a youtube vid of a round where an entire team jumped into an Io and did horrible terrible things to the other team. It was pretty great.

E: And it took me a second to remember the basic courtesy that is providing a link when making any statements like that, so here.

... so what would happen if an infester from each team jumped into the same critter? Is that possible?

There's not really anything strange about that, especially if you're someone for whom vocalization is an important part of cognition and whatnot. Somewhat societally ill-fitting, in general (for politeness/noise pollution reasons, if nothing else, vocalization as a part of normal thinking is disincentivized, even if it can be really helpful), but not actually strange.

Personally, I've generally found that the more ways you have to express something, the better. Talking to yourself can be incredibly helpful for the creative process. Write, talk, draw... attack the subject from all sides, basically.

Totes empathize with the solo motivation thing, though. Among other things, I actually get worse at interpersonal communication if I'm consistently around people for a lengthy period -- since I've been living with folks, my tonal control and whatnot has actually suffered. Can't really chatter at myself appropriately to keep things in order when other folks are around, because things get thrown at you. Hopefully shifting back over to more comfortably living arrangements shortly, though...

Fairly sure I've been in that rough state for the last... ten years? At least?

You get used to it.

And compartmentalize it, stick it in a little box, shove it into a corner of your psyche so it will stop bothering you, and only pull it out when it can actually do something useful for you. Which is roughly never, if your writing gumption doesn't feel like gumping.

Seems to make for really consistently nice dreams, if nothing else.
