General Discussion / Re: I like anime, do you like anime?

Yep. The AK wielding sections were pretty great. The manga's not entirely without its creative merits, skeeziness aside. Incidentally, as mentioned earlier re: HunterxHunter, Hisoka is kinda' awesome.*

More seriously, if you're actually looking for a series that tops either ZnT or that one on the abuse-for-laughs, you want Domina no Do. It is literally that, as a series of manga. All other things being equal, there's some amazing imagery in it. E2: Though, sweet hell alive I shouldn't have to note it, while there's nothing straight up explicit in the manga (though a couple of scenes come really damn close), it is most definitely NSFW.

*E: Though, now that I remember it probably needs clarification, I've not seen the anime of anything I've mentioned in these last few posts. Been talking strictly about the manga :P

If nothing else, the alligator in that thing redeems it to some small degree. That's all I can really say.

That... actually is how we do things in 'murrica? Being politically active is actually kinda' risky if you're not active along fairly specific lines... sometimes even if you are. We've got a pretty nasty history regarding how we treat protesters and whatnot. Maybe not quite as straight up murderous as some other societies, but you've still got plenty of harassment and abuse.

Why is the orientation of the criminals relevant in the first place?
Page views? Gay bank robbers are going to attract more viewer attention than hetero bank robbers, all other things being equal. Least in most places, anyway. I mean, the former is considerably more rare than the latter, after all, so it's more unusual, thus more people pay attention, thus more money for the news shills.

Yeah, good ol' Stone Man end. That's a flag you hope never gets tripped. Among a lot of other stuff, much of it able to be induced. It's a dark road to contemplate.

... not even remotely the worst case scenario. Dead is pretty much never the worst case scenario, really. It's a bad end, usually, but never the worst end. Actually describing worst case scenarios is probably something we shouldn't start getting into, though.

But....but Shades of Grey. But...bad movies. And the social interaction. And the awkwardness. And the second season of Diablo 3 starts that weekend. Think of the looting, guys. And the demon slaying. And the looting dead demons. And the dead loot demons.
must... resist... pirate joke... Will save failed: "Think of the booty, space!"

Yeah... it would need serious bootstrapping from some other system to be viable as anything but a return-to-wilderness sort of thing. Maybe after that point, sure -- with significant automation and AI-Overlord tier technology, each tribe would basically be a pantheon unto itself in terms of creative capability -- but without something like that... there's significant issues.

By the time we've reached that point, though, most of my concerns regarding potential progress would be addressed. We'd already have the capability of, if nothing else, world-ship type stuff or whatev', probably immortality of some sort or another, etc., etc. We would have effectively won the metaphorical game -- anything that comes after that's not actively destroying our capability is just free-play mode, y'know?

... can see where the appeal is, but the thought of that sort of societal organization always makes me kinda' melancholy. It would mean... well, basically that our species is functionally dead. There'd be no great projects, no great innovations -- certainly none that lasted very long -- no... anything, really. We'd never reach the stars, never get off Earth. It would be stagnation. Pretty stagnation, and maybe fairly happy, but it would effectively be species level suicide. Any chance we'd have of being more than what we currently are would be gone.

Personally, I couldn't live with that. We've got hella' problems nowadays, but at least there's some sort of slim chance of escape in there, eventually, y'know? Slim hope is better than none.

Okay, okay, I'll admit if I actually had a computer and a mouse instead of a laptop, I'd have... more tabs.
USB mouse is best thing.

Also opera, which can navigate tabs fairly easily with just the keyboard (ctrl+tab is the most amazing thing, also hotkeys for tab navigation if you so want), and incredibly trivially with keyboard+touchpad (you can click the inside the ctrl+tab menu, it is glorious).

As noted previously, repeatedly, I tend to use tabs as basically!bookmarks. Things I bookmark get forgotten and never opened again, with incredibly rare exception. Things I have in tabbed have a visual reminder of their existence pretty much every time I switch tabs (since I generally use the ctrl+tab menu instead of clicking on a tab especially when there's so many of them the individual tabs are so small they have no icon), so I actually end up going back to them, sooner or later.

... then that bit is simply not applicable? Even with a religious parent there's going to be times one or the other just isn't there. From the religious perspective, it'd likely be about the same as a (shit, is there any way to better frame it than "un-owned"? Much of the marriage cruft in the bible arose from a culture that had women as basically property, so the original context is kinda' toxic.) widow or single parent or somethin', at least insofar as religious leadership goes.

Just, uh. Without the brother in law knocking the mother up or something. Hopefully. Unless they're okay with that, I'unno how it'd work exactly.

Honestly, that bit is rapidly becoming kinda' useless nowadays. Lot of single parent families, yeah.

You could be incredulous towards their lack of quality instead of angered by their maker's lack of competence. That would fit in here, so you could still complain.
