Well, the good thing about living into the internet age (or better, being born into it) is that cultural appropriation is now your (retroactive, if necessary) birthright. Everything that can't run away is yours, now.

And nothing can run from the internet. Nothing.

... if it means anything, I think the qualification for legal native american status in the US is either 1/16th or 1/8th. One great or great-great grandparent, something like that.

England nothing, chunks of the US are about like that, as well. Probably other places, too. It often seems like the only thing as common to royalty as inbreeding is philandery.

Both sides of my family are, iirc (possibly from the same king, don't quite recall). Mind you, I think we're also descended from high-status irish, scottish, and native american as well, at the very least. There's branches of the family we don't have info on, so there could be more :V

You know what I find weird?

when Authors make their protagonist, who is almost always female, talk about how unattractive they are... But then they go an describe themselves as beautiful anyhow.

It is like the author WANTS them to have relatable traits but doesn't want to genuinely detract from how beautiful the are... so they give them body issues but such shallow ones.
I've... actually seen this played well a handful of times. Worm fanfics, most recently. The protag not realizing they're attractive (or the extent to which they are), as part of a larger set of character flaws (often at least partially a more general problem with recognizing how others view them), can make for some interestingly flawed character interaction. All sorts of subtext and whatnot available to the reader that the narrator/character is (sometimes gloriously painfully) unaware of. It can be fun, heh.

General Discussion / Re: Mac laptop vs other laptops?
« on: January 29, 2015, 01:15:14 pm »
It's definitely a question of what you want to do. Most college students can very much easily get everything they need for college out of a piddly sub-$300 laptop that manages text editing, maybe a little multimedia editing, internet, and basically nothing else. In some ways, it's even better for them to run cheap, since there's less they can run on it and it's more difficult to make it both a distraction from schoolwork and an expensive distraction from schoolwork -- plus if something goes wrong (like a particularly bad roommate that manages to defile the machine to the point of non-functioning, or whathaveyou) it's considerably less of a loss.

Personally, I'd recommend getting a cheapo machine, maybe even second-hand, and set aside whatever extra you were intending to spend for after college, when you'll have a better idea of exactly what sort of machine you'll need for work or leisure, as well as being in a situation that's considerably less likely to have something go wrong (you'll also be considerably more likely to be able to get a notably stronger machine for the same price at that point, for what it's worth).

Other than that, listen to the folks above me -- their words are truth.

*mumbles something about Incursion and the possibility of significant class defining features from level 1*

... which is to say, homebrew. Homebrew like you want to live. Level 1 warrior boring? Stuff in something that makes it not boring. Same for the rest of 'em.

The quote basically re-defines racism as not at all what racism is, then says "see, black people can't be that".
I think her PoV was associating racism == the treatment towards blacks, instead of knowing what racism really is. :P
Misunderstanding there, it seems.
Or just thinking systemic instead of individual, and not thinking to expand consideration beyond their immediate culture. I'd call it more miscommunication instead of misunderstanding... assuming the person attempting to persuade wasn't just making a blatantly ignorant statement, anyway. It's one of those topics that can get muddied simply because there's not really a single sort of racism, despite us only having one word for it (barring adjectives, anyway).

If it's a legitimate zompocalypse, all the sobriety in the world is not going to save you. Presumably the thought pattern is if you're stoned out of your mind, at least the quality of what little time you have left to live will be positive, and you'll hopefully be too out of it to feel the existential horror that comes from being bitten and slowly zombifying and/or being eaten.

... if we were going for stuff like that, I'd want a side story telling the tale of that MS that got headshot.

It'd be nice to see how a grunt mech pilot makes it to national level to begin with, y'know? Plus it could be the most amazingly troll ending scene, ha.

LETS TRY ON

It's-  it's so beautiful TT_TT
*paraphrased* "Was... was there a point to that?"

"... no."

You could just kinda' feel the politeness warring with incredulity after they won. Entire stadium just going, "What is this shit. Awww, crap. We have to clap." Can just imagine something along the ceiling rapidly blinking "APPLAUSE" and then the shills in the audience remember what they're paid for :P

... also, that interview. Yuuma. Yuuuuumaaaaa. Eyes are up there. And hey, surprise sibling. Where'd that come from?

---

Oh gods. That headshot. *dakkadakkadakka-boom-slow tilt* That needs to be a .gif.

Ninja team got chumped. Which is a shame, they were kinda' awesome in their few seconds of existence. And hey, nameless was actually pretty awesome. Shame he got plot-shanked by the little sister. Woulda' been nice to see 'im get at least one win in...

1) That's probably not bloodless.
2) They can still scream without a tongue. Go for the vocal cords and maybe collapse the lungs a lil'bit.

Ear muffs. Nice, noise canceling, ear muffs. Maybe some ear plugs, too. Or just stick some ear-bud headphones inside the ear muffs and play some low classical or somethin'.
