someone has apparently been telling my grandmother i've been running a red light in my room (i.e. advertising for prostitution in the most rock stupid way possible, which, just. No, on several levels starting at practical) at night

and my non-verbal reaction just, like. Honey, 1, I don't get nearly that much play, 2, you literally couldn't pay me to fuck anyone that would be a customer for that in the county I live in -- they way too damn poor and too damn std ridden to be able to afford the floor price on that one

this is what happens when old people talk to drug addicts, i guess, i'unno what the hell's going on with this one

Being throw into a volcano sounds like a pretty bad ass way to be buried, the next most bad ass thing I can think of would be for my corpse to be put in the drivers seat of a car filled with explosives then thrown off a cliff so it explodes when it hits the ground.
I mean, why not both? If you're lucky(?) your corpse will even trigger an eruption!

It's held up decently enough to still be a pretty enjoyable play these days, yeah, even if you're not particularly attached to it otherwise (the first AoW I played was shadow magic, aow1 came many years later). I think the campaign might actually be somewhat more compelling than the immediate sequel (and about on par with SM).

Some days it's indistinguishable from a bot. All days the particularly contentless ones warrants a hypnotoad. The train is on, now, it only stops at ribbity death.

Pointedly, there is buy-in to that mess from folks pretty high up the sociopolitical ladder. Their imagination has done more to put us where we are in terms of world hunger and whatnot than doing anything to solve it.

The fact that they have had contact with us without subjugating or eradicating us means they know how to interact peacefully.
Well, either that or they're just real good at one or the other and we just haven't noticed that they've already managed it. The former is often proposed by conspiracy nuts... the latter I haven't seen as much, but the proposition that the current course we're on in regards to global warming (i.e. severe reduction in population and/or capability, or outright extinction) is being influenced by hostile aliens fits right into that.

Hell, it wouldn't even take much effort, just time. Few technological nudges to encourage us towards self-destructive technology, little bit of push here and there to keep the social landscape tore up enough to prevent sufficient mitigation efforts... if you're looking for low personnel investment global xenocide, it could look a lot like our current situation.

It's almost a shame we don't actually have hostile extraterrestrials to blame for us own-goaling our species, heh. There'd at least be some respect to be given there for a well performed engineered extinction event.

yeah, that's one of the reasons i have no intention of giving any instructions for my funeral whenever the time comes

i'd be telling those buggers to be blaring aqua necromancer (Warning: Noise Music*) or something on repeat, loudly

and, like

people might be mourning at that point, but it'd probably be more due to the hearing damage than my passing

*that I actually kinda' enjoy; it's like waves crashing on the beach by way of fornicating industrial machinery

Quick check suggests Doom was kicked out of his university prior to graduation, so it's possible he doesn't actually have a doctorate. Fairly unlikely, though, what with the whole "rules a country" thing -- I'd be wildly surprised if Latveria didn't have at least one accredited university willing and able to give either an honorary one, or work with him to properly graduate.

Doctor Bong actually canonically achieved a PhD in psychology, so. Doctor Bong really was... though after becoming a supervillain, so he wasn't for a bit but eventually took time off to graduate.

At least one of the Fates probably was, too -- Nelson, at least, was both a physician and archeologist at one point or another, so it's fairly likely he actually did have a doctorate, maybe multiple. There's several doctor fates, though, so it's entirely possible any particular one wasn't.

Eh, the only reason to worry about it is if you trust scripture more than you do your god, imo. If there's something there to worry about, have faith god's going to get it right regardless of what some book written by humans say :V

They're making another Predator movie? This time versus Native Americans?

Also apparently it's a Hulu exclusive.  WTF?
but the real question is if the pope thinks predators have souls

...

... though in all seriousness, the soul status of possible extraterrestrials have been bugging theologians for a while now, so, y'know. That might actually be a question someone poses to a religious authority as something other than a joke.

wait, does that mean celestials have blue skin due to silver overdose

Threw in some edits -- there's literally debate among the catholic popes on the issue of animal souls. There's debate in the major branches.

e: but yeah, you saw the edits

generally when it comes to christianity I just assume everything is up for debate, even among major denominations, because every time I bother looking it up the answer ends up "yep, they've been arguing over that one"

I'unno, there's parts of christianity that debate whether or not Jesus actually existed, nevermind smaller issues. There's probably some denomination or another that either directly says animals have souls, or are amenable enough to the concept they don't disagree when someone else holds to it.

e: as in, like 5 seconds of googling will pull up mention of straight up popes (John Paul II back in the 90s, for one example) saying animals do, in fact, have souls, so. Yeah, there's actually debate among christianity on that one.

e2: the pope after Paul 2 held otherwise, the current pope seems to be in the "all dogs go to heaven" camp, there's a history of debate and different positions on animals souls probably going back longer than most of us have been alive :P

Yeah, the game's store page or whatever makes it exceedingly clear it's not a fallout style RPG or anything. Just a point&click/puzzle one with fallout aesthetics.
