Only when you involve long pork, which apparently they do on the continent. We may be degenerate scum, but at least we don't eat each other.
... incidentally, it's called "rolling with the joke".

... white gravy is not made from people, TD1. There's no race involved.
Though if there is in europe, remind me to A) never eat the gravy, and B) avoid the cannibals. Y'all should probably do something about that.

... if it's white gravy, that should be fairly trivial with some added food coloring. I think, anyway.
The real trick would be getting anyone to eat it.

General Discussion / Re: SCIENCE, the Higgs, and everything else!
« on: December 30, 2014, 02:54:48 pm »Judging by your comment of "humans aren't lazy", you don't really understand just how deep the roots of laziness go... understand quite well, and the answer is "not very". Humans as a species are considerably inclined towards action, particularly creative action, and it takes fairly substantial environmental pressures and/or mental illness to actually make us inclined towards substantial inaction. Laziness is very much not inherent to humankind.
"Too much effort" isn't a sign of laziness, it's a sign of depression, generally. A lazy person can and will still improve, just at a slower pace. People like to do things, even if they're lazy.
If anything, laziness just breeds efficiency, getting more done with less effort.

... pretty sure there's nothing out there that's actually inherently lazy. Humans certainly aren't, and neither are any animal species I can recall. Occasionally optimized for long downtimes or large amounts of sleep, but that's a very different sort of thing.
Regardless, even something substantially lazier than a lazy human can still end the world if that results in exponentially more uptime regardless. Wasting 75% of your time is fairly irrelevant if you're working 100,000% faster or whatever. Hell, wasting 99+% of one's time is still irrelevant if the thing in question is able to self-upgrade -- eventually that .0001% potential will still exceed mankind's capability or build something less wasteful or whatnot.
Laziness wouldn't prevent an AI end of times, it would just slow it down. Marginally.

« on: December 30, 2014, 11:26:07 am »I rarely use block. I mainly use shields for attacking. The closest I get to blocking is using shield slam.Yeah... I didn't use block much, either, until I actually nabbed that eternal guard prodigy. Not sure how effective it is on insane or whatnot, but I'm fairly sure at nightmare or below that plus a good shield makes you pretty close to functionally invincible -- shaving 2-300 damage off of everything, after resists, damage shields, etc., is... it's a thing. And then there's the counterstrikes, especially if you've got access to the talent that lets you counter off incomplete blocks. Functional invincibility and double damage vs. everything is, well. Is.
Currently, my level 50 sun paladin deals 1400 bump damage, which is better than my old mindslayer. Flexible Combat is better than I expected.
You really need the eternal guard prodigy to really get your mileage out of block, though. Probably the other block prodigy, too, if you're not going to keep a few swap-ins around to round out your elemental coverage.

« on: December 30, 2014, 11:20:55 am »My favorite scroll was Windwalker. <3 (Or the other one with a similar effect that I can't remember)Hoptoad was my travel spell of choice. Flying and running fast is alright, but nothing beats jumping over mountains, between levels in vivec, on top of mushrooms, etc., etc.
Made getting around sooo much faster.
Gotta' be jump, though. That chance of splattering yourself across the countryside on a missed jump is part of the experience. Just bumping acrobatics is cheating

(Note: Frumple is entirely okay with cheating.)

« on: December 29, 2014, 11:47:20 pm »In Bloodmoon the hard stuff can spawn at any level but it's spawn chance was based on your level, so at level 1 your unlikely to find a werewolf.Though, of course, there's some areas on the island that are, y'know, filled with werewolves anyway.
I ended up getting a mod to delay the attacks, getting attacked at level 1 is no fun.
It's a pretty interesting experience to clear out those caves when everything inside it one-shots you and can't be outran.
(The secret is levitation and ranged attacks. And modding in passive magicka regeneration, if you want to save some effort and alchemy exploitation. Which I always did anyway, because it made using magic so. much. less. painful.)

Arguably. It really is considerably clunkier than even morrowind, so you'll be fighting UI and whatnot if you go back to it. It's alright if you can get past stuff like that, but it's definitely something that's even more of an acquired taste than the more recent elder scrolls game. Fairly rewarding once you get to that point, but...
... that said, this is still the morrowind thread, and we really should be keeping discussion centered on that. Elder scrolls threads have an incredibly nasty tendency to implode when people start getting into pissing matches over the different games. Which they do, close to inevitably.
So... yeah. If y'all want a inter-elder scrolls discussion thread, maybe make it? Safer that way.

Ahh, that plot/mechanic disconnect.
Playing game.* Main character worrying about future -- money, position, etc. Main character is capable of laying waste the countryside and raking in several thousand gold pieces per nap**, easily -- alone, nevermind with help. Main character is capable of generating a gigantic fuckoff energy sword that could probably chunk through a castle wall. Still worried about making end's meat.
Is also capable of easily turning himself into a miracle healer, easily able to cure death, mass groups of injured, all sorts of diseases...
... but still somehow doubtful of own capabilities and position in the world.
...
s'just. dude. I think you're going to be okay. Just maybe. Appreciate the character building and growth and whatnot, but it's kinda' out of place when you're a walking siege engine and trauma center...
*Crimson Gem Saga. It's... alright.
**And has accumulated -- and spent -- sums of gold several times in excess of the amount given as sufficient to set someone for life, earlier in the game, already... trivially.
