dog got haircut today

recently acquired kitten literally no longer recognized the pupper

kitten normally chases dog around, tries to rub up on/play with, instead was puffing up and hissing/spatting and whatnot, running away, etc.

After a hour or two it looks like she's starting to figure out it's the same critter, but... yeah. Don't think I've seen that behavior before from a kitten, though it may just be because she's so young and the dog lost a lot of hair (i.e. pupper radius has like more than halved).

So it sounds like the machine has got the "perceiving" thing down, but can it feel?

This would be my test: can you make it mad?
So what would that test conclude when you encounter a human it couldn't? There's people out there that are largely emotionally numb, either to specific ones or in general, so there's good odds you'd find people that would fail that test.

... y'know, if you mispronounce your username as koogas, that makes you bird farts.

I have just realized this, and it's definitely thread relevant.

time to get a ball gag so you can't bite your cheek anymore

... i think they actually make like non-recreational aids for dealing with stuff like that, too? Might be worth looking into.

It seems to be a thing that actually happened, at least. The insurance company's lawyers seem to have fucked up before the proverbial race even started, by not getting involved when initially contacted about the issue.

So far as liability goes, well, it's harm (the other person involved was both aware and didn't inform the woman they had a STD) that occured inside one of their insured vehicles. That's apparently enough, and it's not like that's much of a stretch. Car insurance doesn't always just cover wrecks, y'know? This would pretty cleanly fall under harmful negligent behavior by the insured individual, while in an insured vehicle, which depending on the insurance policy may genuinely be covered.

e:I'm 110% behind a worldview that amounts to "fuck the insurance companies and make them pay out", though :V

That sounds like it could be either Evoland or its sequel.

Hey now, they're even more unfalsifiable since there's a bunch of different kinds of them instead of ostensibly just the one. Give them the credit they're due :V

Hold up, now, the thread said unofficial religions only. I know for a fact anubis and ammit still have worshippers and official recognition in places. Kokopelli, too, though less sure about the other non-discworld ones.

... could you, like, coat the finished fencing in something they dislike? Spray it down with mace or somethin'. Lean something they wouldn't bother in front of it, stuff like that.

Quit job, read until die. Shit ain't complicated, do what you love and don't worry about the rest of it. Hopefully you've already either arranged for a will or are okay with whatever the applicable gov't's default behavior is.

... also make sure to reply to all your threads with mentions of hypnotoad instead of just most of them. Might as well stay on top of it if it's only going to go for a few more months.

They even come in multiple varieties, from written erotica to CGI animation. I'm not even sure if it's a sad thing, hirsute folks deserve love, too, y'know?

Lefty probably helps notice how pervasively right hand dominant most cultures' design processes are, though. Even as a righty I'll occasionally spend a while having trouble ignoring how much basically everything is designed around right handed folks as a default. Doors tend to be designed around it, building construction, all sorts of stuff has a clear bias towards right-handed people. It's honestly kinda' distracting when you're picking up on it...

I mean, yeah, that's more or less what I figured, too. Still odd it's taken like a half-decade for it to happen, but still. It'd be a reasonable explanation.

I suppose they packed the stuff into smaller boxes by mistake, which meant they needed a third box, and then put those smaller boxes into the normal sized boxes because those are the boxed they're actually supposed to send things in?
It's possible for the two larger boxes -- the smaller, presumably angrier boxes inside of them were actually notably smaller (had packing paper and everything to keep stuff from rattling around). The smaller box had its smaller box just flush. No space, no give, the smaller smaller box was barely any smaller than the smaller box itself. Would have been fine to just ship the smaller smaller box instead of putting it into the smaller box and shipping the smaller smaller box inside the smaller box.

There was definitely mild disappointment there was only one iteration of smaller boxes per box, though. It's better when there's a smaller box inside the smaller box inside the box. theeere we go, smaller has finally stopped looking like a word to me now i can post
