Also pretty sure they've got smash bros characters in saltybet, at the least. Dunno about TF2 ones, but eh.

... I'd speak against the latter half of that statement, at least. The OTP to found all OTPs was, more or less literally, Kirk/Spock.

Hell, credit where it's due, that basically founded modern day fanfiction in its entirety.

Ever played League of Legends?

Oh my looooooooooooooooooord.
... honestly, what I've played of LoL actually had lower jackhole saturation than normal for multiplayer games. Never did try to get into ranked or anything, but the strong majority of people I've ended up in games with were fairly chill. Played DotA 2 even less, but the same statement applies fairly well. Bit less chill, but that's probably more because of its ancestry than anything.

Now, DotA 1? That shit was toxic as hell, especially once the bots and crap started showing up.

If the fanfiction is anything to go by...

... let's just go with no and save all of us some sanity.

But when the answer doesn't cost much at all, then why shouldn't they do it in a private fashion?
... well, if you're going to use a "least cost" heuristic, the least cost involved is probably "don't look", as opposed to the people in question moving out of their way to some hidden place or screwing with their schedule or whatnot to provide for some people's sensibilities.

Having been around breast feeding folks fairly recently, it's... not a big deal to just not stare or whathaveyou. First time or two is maybe a little unsettling because it's unusual, but after that it's... just a thing.

It's not oppression, either- the woman can choose to do it if she wishes, but it's rather out of taste to subject people to a sight they don't want to see. Constraint, where constraint is possible, is a reasonable request.
It kinda' isn't. That same line of reasoning leads to complete concealment and whatnot. Constraint, where constraint is necessary (significantly beneficial, if one prefers a less loaded word), is a reasonable request -- hygiene, public safety, etc. Not where it's merely possible.

I personally would find it rather disconcerting seeing naked people everywhere, and not because of sexual reasons. I don't suppose I know the real reason, just it would make me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable.
... it's called socialization and your cultural mores. That's more or less all of it, though, barring potential environmental issues. If it actually became common in your society, it wouldn't take too terribly long for it to become just a thing to you. There's nothing deep seated to it, just familiarity.

As for the breastfeeding thing, y'all do realize there's (several) fairly simple means to cover up and continue breastfeeding anyway, right? If bared breasts are that big of an issue for folks, just offer government issued shawls or something. Prudes get to stfu, kids get what they need, everybody wins.

General Discussion / Re: Religion Questions Thread

In regards to the concept of tearing apart one's beliefs, I can't understand how people can feel like that and then try to stop it and maintain there beliefs.
The actual issue in this case is that this thread is not the place for it. As the rules make quite clear.

Whoever owns the mountain probably has a gun.

... though generally the actual problem with going and meditating on a mountain for a year isn't necessarily doing that, it's coming back down. And starting your life back up with a year-sized gap.

Well, and surviving the year, but that's a given.

E: But, uh. If you're actually serious, you might look around your area for any religious faiths that have strong connection to ascetic practices -- buddhism's an obvious go-to. Even if you're not an adherent -- even outright irreligious, in some cases -- it's not unlikely they might be able to offer advice, contacts with folks who work with those who do things like hermitages, and things like that. There are organizations out there that actually have experience with enabling long disconnections from society, and some of them are fairly friendly, from what I understand.

Brosnorkeph, I don't even know what dual destinies is.

Except a game, apparently.

I... uh. Um.

... m... mild overreaction?

Nice listy things, though...

... though, thinking on it. There was an anime-style animated movie about a... prison? Type thing. Saw it on TV in the states... gods, probably over a decade ago? It was definitely action/sci-fi, and fairly odd and quite colorful, but I've completely forgotten, like. Everything. That wouldn't happen to ring any bells for anyone? Think the title had a number in it, if that helps any.

... huh.

And yeah, succeeded, which somehow ran afoul of (often ignored, if internet resources are anything to go by >_>) japanese censorship laws.

Which is just... okay. Why not offshore production? Well, beyond the apparent activist leaning of the project itself, I guess.

Why does my computer have to die so often when I play DF. :-\
Overheating? DF can be pretty rough on the CPU, after all...

That makes menwonder if a koala would actually be willing to eat a potato. Obviously they aren't designed to, but that in and of itself wouldn't necessarily stop an animal from doing something if it felt like it.
... maybe if you sliced the potatoes into eucalyptus leaf shaped pieces... and then attached them to a eucalyptus tree?
