... thing I've been noting, though, is I'm doubtful the show has actually, well... shown that.
The point about the batteries exploding only noted (t'me, anyway) that they needed zero/low-g environments to produce, not that folks weren't able to reverse engineer 'em. It's also worth noting that like half the non-chaff MS produced so far have made pretty good showings against the gundam -- part of that's because hair-fetish is badly untrained and inexperienced, but pretty much everyone has been as well. Or at least I hope to zog they have been, otherwise most of this show has been very sad. I haven't been getting any sort of vibe that the earthfolk are having substantial trouble on the tech side of thing, though. Playing a little catchup, maybe, but basically everyone seems to be rapid teching like goddamn.
There's also not really been any strong indication of where the zog the G-Self came from, or what the blazes is actually going on up there. Space, yes (well, maybe, because everyone apparently has launch capability (as the "space pirates" came from a earth faction), so who the hell knows at this point, ahahaha!), but where, how, why... we've got nothing (by ~2/3rds of the way through ep 11, anyway). Beyond maybe the imbecilic ramblings of an infantilized amnesiac, and the total that has revealed is one word completely without context. Well, and some more stuff popping up around the moon, but maybe two people (space-pope, R&D dude) actually have any indication of knowing what the hell's up with that and they haven't actually said anything yet.
There's something to be said about showing instead of telling and letting folks piece stuff together, but... so far (and maybe it'll improve over the next two episodes, I'unno), there's not really been any of either. Some stuff folks can make WAGs about, but that's about it.
... all that said, there's still plenty of completely ridiculous stuff going on in Ep 11. Omnom Foureyes (... are the food people ever going to actually be a substantial plot point?) pausing to pose and style his hair was just beautiful. Supposedly ace pilots continuing to do that bughumping crazy "let's idle down, open our cockpits, and have a chat in the middle of a raging dogfight" thing. Sweet mother of hell they just flew out of their machines to have a slap fight in the middle of space, while shit explodes all around them.
