Hypnotoad only accepts worship of Arm_ok, so no worries there.

Well... good luck, LW. Hopefully you don't die and don't end up with long covid.

romcom shenanigans are better when there's giant robots involved

the captions on that thing were a joke

... didn't really look that interesting to me, personally, but someone was having fun with the subtitles on that footage

So, like. Little background. Since I started working in the department I'm in now (so around 4-5 years, now), we've been getting a particular monthly delivery. Every time they've shown up -- so probably somewhere over 200 deliveries, at this point -- it's been a delivery of two boxes. Two boxes, monthly, more or less consistently for half a decade.

Today, there was three boxes. Now, little odd, but okay, not really anything super unusual, yeah? Yeah. So I open the smallest box, and.

Inside the box was another, smaller box, with the usual order material in it. And, like. Okay, that was weird, but whatever, next box.

Next box also had another, smaller box in it. So did the last box.

After literally hundreds of consistent deliveries, instead of two boxes, they sent us the usual order in three sets of nested box pairs, six boxes total. Why they sent us matryoshka boxes, I don't know, but.

It definitely made me wtf a bit.

hypnotoad will presumably plug the guy into a power socket

it'll be fine, don't worry, once you're connected to infrastructure you don't have to worry about it anymore

If it makes you feel any better, the Bandicoot themed energy powder has papaya fruit powder in it.

...

though looking at a wumpa fruit those things look more like peaches anyway, so, uh

Kohan, maybe? There was the first and then a sequel.

Other thoughts are Heroes of Annihilated Empires or maybe the spellforce line. Any more details you could remember would help, heh. Dragonshard, maybe. There were a lot of old-ish RTS games with vaguely warcraft-y graphics and a random map option.

Like... yeah. I haven't (won't) used alcohol or weed, but the closest I've come to it (laughing gas, opioid painkillers post surgery, some of the antidepressants, etc.) have all just been... miserable experiences. Literal excercises in existential horror at worst, slow experiments in debilitating side effects that offered only marginal improvements in fuctionality at best. The best I can say is they're better than crippling pain, in the sense it's better to be kicked in the shin by a person than kicked in the crotch by a horse. Some folks just don't react well to certain substances.

And that's okay, just like it's okay that some folks do, so long as it's not actively harming folks around them.

... do hope the shroom/LSD/whatever that was experiments for anti-depression and whatnot treatments end up working as well as it's been looking like they might, though. Like, if we actually manage to figure out a way to clear up a lot of that shit without all the nasty problems our current attempts like to have... it'd be a goddamn godsend, signs it's time to worship the shroom god 'cause the rest of those fuckers didn't pony up.

wait, wait

when is "delicious pork fat is available for eating" not a sufficiently socially acceptable reason to eat pork fat?

Who put out a memo you need a reason for that, and how do I find them so this mistake can be corrected?

found out there is not, in fact, some sort of confirmation or any sort of warning or protection for making a decision that puts your max HP below zero

Somewhere between "musk is shit" and "it was inevitable". More specific than that, I ain't got.

E: though yeah, his opinion on the state of the economy has about as much to do with reality as tesla's stock prices, for what that's worth.

probably has more to do with some of his horseshit looking like it's coming home to roost than anything else, ha

I mean, it's a stupid idea to climb a towering deadly mountain, too, but people still climb Everest. If it won't run away fast enough, sooner or later a human will try to bang it, for reasons myriad.

...

Also that totally reminds me of... some comic or another. Particularly debauched guy was brought a live 'dillo on a silver platter. Wasn't anything depicted on-screen, so to speak, but I'm pretty sure its uncomprehending sound effect was fnarf. Somethin' like that.

but yeah they're one of the remaining leprosy reservoirs in the wild, though unlike koalas and their STDs I don't think it's killing them or anything

I "love" that we're quibbling over what the founding fathers meant.
They were people like us.  Imagine yourself in their shoes for a moment.  For an hour, for several hours in oppressive heat while wearing the stupid rough cloth clothes they wore.
I don't particularly feel like imagining myself in the shoes of someone that raped a slave, though. Can do without it, y'know? (which one am I talking about, exactly? Who knows, that wouldn't narrow down the list nearly as much as it should)

They were definitely people sharing our species, but with like maybe two or three exceptions what we know of them indicate that most of them were pretty intensely horrible people, of the sort I can't easily get my head into the same mental space of, and frankly hope to any bloody thing that will listen that I'll never be able to.

You can understand how someone would act without having to put yourself directly in their shoes, though, and thank consensual fornication for that.

e: though no aggro directed at you personally, rol, it's just a thought experiment that hit me as genuinely repugnant, the founding fathers were mostly immoral sacks of shit on the net, not a headspace you want to put yourself in

Decent starting point would probably some point a bit before you start endorsing replacement theory with any seriousness. If you felt like just starting at around Carlson and working your way down you'd probably end up alright.
