oh ffs black on black crime. First, your statistic about black cops is wrong because the majority of cops are white. I want to see some actual data to support your statement there.
... you're forgetting ph's earlier post, which notes not that black cops cause 78% of total police-on-black shootings, but that of the ones they do shoot, 78% are still black. The bit you're quoting is a mild misstatement. Insofar as actual points in contrast to the position Ph is trying to build by quoting the number in question, it's strongly worth noting that institutional racism is a thing, and it is entirely possible to be racist against one's own race. That minority LEOs also disproportionately target minorities doesn't really mean much insofar as general institutional equality goes. Doesn't mean that corruption and whatnot still isn't a larger problem, but it doesn't necessarily mean that racism within the system is reduced in magnitude and impact, either.

As for the general thread of thought that reducing or eliminating racism within the police force somehow wouldn't help, I... just have to look at those making the claim with extreme askance. If we could bring the levels of excess down to what's performed against non-minorities, that would frankly be a goddamn coup and a major improvement. Even if, by some incredibly unlikely occurrence, things met half-way, it would still be a notable step forward. This apparent sentiment that correcting for racism would do little to nothing to improve the situation is just... off. Fix everything, of course not, but major freaking improvement? Almost certainly.

... it's always the silliest thing, stuff like that. Our forefathers started off black, insofar as current nomenclature goes, last I paid attention. If white folks cared about them, they'd be trying to breed back to the original.

Though I guess the ones pushing that kind of line are also probably the sort that believes the skin tone differences were somehow magically created separate or somethin'.

I'd rather imagine they've already done animal testing, or intend to sooner or later. Poisoning (inflicting cancer upon, whatever) and torturing non-human animals for science is basically standard operating procedure.

Only if you've forgotten about Nyaruko-san.

I wish there was confusion in that appellation. But no. Unfortunately no.

It's only a small comfort that part of that lack of confusion comes from cthulhukitty.

... subject's probably leaning a bit close to the forum ToS at this point, though.

Be about the first person to defend the subject as a viable and impressive artform, but there's no denying that things can get more than a little weird.

E: And that australia stuff was oddly tame, Strange. Seen some of that over here in florida -- not the sharks, but snakes in odd places and lesser-crocs around and about, sure.

... you'll be back, one day. Just give it time.

Don't even know what /d/ has to do with hentai, though. Don't want to know. There's only two things surrounded by /s I want anything to do with, and that's the indicator used to note Incursion spells back in old discussions about it and internet addresses.

While it probably does make it easier to catch, you're also adding 'How do I record this thing?' into the mess, as well as likely-sizable video files you aren't actually going to use most of.
It's... also a lot rougher on the system, if you're trying to LP on a weaker rig. I'd probably churn out a few small VLPs myself, if it didn't mean my computer igniting and burning down the surrounding countryside, all while chugging horrifically.

I sorta' tried, once. To get it set up, anyway. Nevermind actually recording, the gorram software itself chortled at my CPU with a hearty GET REKT. Not pleasant. Screenshots are nicer. Or just text, when it's possible. Those, I actually produced a few (for Incursion, years back).

... pretty sure several image hosting sites allow for bulk uploads -- designate a folder instead of a specific picture file, that sort of thing. Getting the images themselves is via printscreen if you're being inefficient, varying screen capture software if not. Or built in screenshot features, for some games.

Definitely consider swinging a PM by one of the LPers over in Play with your Buddies -- we've got a good handful of screenshot LPs running over there that can probably point you in the right direction. Irony or someone probably wouldn't mind passing over some tips.

We don't know. Might as well ask why the friggin' safety was apparently off. Unless there ends up being a trial, we almost certainly won't find out (not that a trial would guarantee things, either, but it makes it more likely). Beyond that, adrenaline and whatnot tends to make for pretty terrible aim. And there's SG's point, yeah.

Considering the initial communication happened before the close approach? Yeah. Pretty impossible.

... nothin' wrong with a little protein, WF :P

I mean, sure, you wipe it off but if there's some leavings... eh. It's not like canned goods and whatnot don't have an acceptable level of bug bit saturation.

... if brown had been white, he almost certainly wouldn't have been aggressively approached by a cop for jaywalking to begin with, triggering the rest of the mess. It's also worth noting that the only other right-there testimony (Johnson) has wilson assaulting brown, including dragging the guy part way into the car himself.

Turning it around, I somehow doubt if he'd been white, brown would have been almost ran over for jaywalking, attacked, and then later shot after a short struggle, after fleeing and then trying to surrender.

Of course, maybe if we'd have had a trial we'd actually end up figuring out what the hell actually happened (doubtful, considering what a shit-poor job the prosecution did during the grand jury proceedings, but it's possible), but it's looking like that's not on the table anymore ::)

Huh. I just tried using Dwarf Fortress as another example, but as it turns out the media files in it are barely anything.
Actually, if you're looking for a similarly low-rez game that is an example, ToME 4 is a damned good one. The actual game data (for the no music version) is something like 20 megs -- the remaining ~130 megs of the program is entirely graphics. The music adds something like another 120 megs :-\

Ooh, perfect 40k game? Honestly, it would be something that would probably be better off as several different games. The core conceit I'd like to see from an ideal 40k game would be something along the lines of Distant Worlds, except with even further zoom-in.

Sandbox-style thing where you can choose to control as much or as little of the faction you're in control of as you like, with what amounts to extra game modes, dungeon keeper possession style, for individual unit control.

Slightly further out would be homeworld (for space stuff) or Attack of the Paper Zombies (for ground stuff) style control for individual battles/combat scenarios. Probably throw in some Sim City-styling and whatnot for potential planetary governance stuff (which would be radically different if you were playing, say, Ork, Necron, or 'Nid, and probably still significantly different if you were governing over, say, a hive world instead of a garden one or somethin').

Massive scale strategy where you can play anything down to an individual guardsmen if you wanted to, as well. Overarching sandbox/simulation with planetary/city wide, individual conflict, and single unit modes folded up into it.

Course, what that actually amounts to is wanting a massive 40k 4x game, a 40k citybuilding game (You have no idea how much I want one of those, actually. Potential to be so fluffy ;_;), a Homeworld style space RTS game, a scaled up (armies, damnit) DoW sequel, a RTT squad based game (DoW2's closer to that, but I'd prefer something like AotPZ or its sequel thing, Infested Planet), a space sim game (though I'd probably prefer something 2D, there, personally -- along the lines of Transcendence or somethin'), and a FPS and/or RPG and/or Action game.

It's just, if we were talking eye in the sky impossible madness, I'd want all of that to be the exact same game. Full scale, top to bottom immersion.
